I adore the simplicity of this game. The story is beautiful, and richly satisfying. It's three notches above the original trilogy, and its mind boggling how well this works on just about every single level.
1
God of War Ragnarök
It feels like a disservice to the game to put it 2nd... because it really is truly marvelous in every regard.
I've literally said this before: It has my favorite moment in a video game I have ever experienced.
If it was just a bit leaner... It could've taken the top spot.
2
God of War III
A satisfying, and heartfelt conclusion to the trilogy. It surprised me in many ways... and did just about all of things I wanted it to. And maybe a couple things I could've lived without.
3
God of War II
Wicked level design, some new combat mechanics I loved, and a badass story. Hell, yes.
4
God of War
A game I initially disliked, and somehow grew to love!
I think the difficulty was a major hindrance on me initially. But the storytelling... oh boy yeah.
