Ongoing first playthrough, why would I not use the dual-wielding starting class?

@yagihimesama confusingly, the PS3 does have a release called "Scholar of the First Sin" but it's not the one everyone complains about--it's basically a "game of the year edition" with the DLC.

I don't have and probably won't get a PS4/5 so KF is the next Fromsoft for me.
