Hot Gamer Opinions (XenonNV Edition)

Uuuuuh special thinks to Squigglydot for the inspiration for this list
(You can see their original one here: https://www.backloggd.com/u/Squigglydot/list/hotted-takes-ahead-ratings-against-the-norm)

Here are games where I have some Heated Differing Opinions™ from alot of people who rate this on this site, look at how cool and correct I am
(also they have to have a difference of at least one whole point or more I guess)

My rating: 5.0 (avg of 3.1)
Pretty wild how influential a cheap mobile game is to me personally. I honestly might not even be here if it weren't for this game, and even still the absurd amount of creative potential at your disposal here is something to behold. You can make something that looks cool, make something that's fun to play through, make something to see how far you can push what a human is capable of, make absurd looking effects, make entire short movies, you can even make your own game inside a singular level. It's insane how much a game like this has gone past it's simple rage game origins. It's a whole community of people creating and playing with near unlimited potential.

(though it kinda sucks how long 2.2 has been taking to release but I guess that's just a testament to how well this game is able to thrive)

fuck game

Simple yet brutal scorerunning brilliance. Immensely fun to just pick up and play just to see how long you can survive. Also Hyper Hexagonest is honestly one of the most raw stages I've seen in a game, it's insane

What's up with this guy

Perhaps I'm a sucker of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games but the amount of backlash this one gets feels immensely unfair. Sure it has it's issues with certain questionable gameplay changes but treating this game as if it murdered their entire family because it doesn't live up to the previous entries is just really mean. I still find it delightfully endearing despite not being on the same level of something like Explorers of Sky.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is that I wish people would stop treating this like the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon version of Sticker Star.

Is it silly that I rate certain flash games so high? Maybe. Am I nostalgically biased? Perhaps. I don't really care though this game rules
My rating: 1.5 (avg of 2.9)
All this does for me now is bring back miserable sickness memories but I'd rather not get into that rn
My rating: 1.5 (avg of 4.5)
Probably the hottest take that I have. Look, I admire alot about it, but the experience I had with this chapter was so overwhelmingly exhausting that I can't help but feel bitter. I understand all of the great things that it does, but I just significantly prefer the original game in comparison.
My rating: 1.0 (avg of 2.8)
I haven't played much of Super Meat Boy but I hope to god it's much different from this. Why does he move like that. What is this level design. Why does he move like that. What are these hitboxes. WHY DOES HE MOVE LIKE THAT. Thank fucking GOD the custom levels pack in The Basement Collection is completely optional, even for 100%. Like, seriously, you want me to do all that shit with controls like these?! No fuckin thanks dude I have better things to struggle on
My rating: 1.0 (avg of 3.0)
One of the most infuriatingly nothing games I've ever played. Weightless and bland, annoying and confusing. I legitimately have no clue how this got popular in the 3DS indie scene. Maybe people were just desperate for anything back then? I also have no clue why they had the audacity to raise the price on the collection to 20 goddamn dollars, making it more expensive that many other, much more worthwhile indies out there. Hollow Knight, Undertale, Cuphead, Katana Zero, Nuclear Throne, Hyper Light Drifter, Night in the Woods, Everhood, Spelunky 1 & 2, Stardew Valley; all of these games cost $20 or less but NO I want Mutant goddamn Mudds, that'll be a real bang for my buck.

In fact, just get Kero Blaster if you want a 2D shooting platformer, it basically does everything this does but significantly better and more enjoyable, plus it's infinitely more charming.
