Like others have said, this is 2/3 an incredible game. The early to mid game is the most interesting when you have all three chosen around, harassing and putting pressure on you. When the game is on point, it is at the top of its class. Every decision in and out of combat is filled with tension as you have tons of decisions and they all feel weighty.
Towards the end of the game, your decision pool shrinks dramatically, the game becomes much easier and just kind of loses its shine. That plus the fact that there are some pretty bad game breaking bugs still in this... very not new game mean that I can't give it a full 5 stars.

A decent uncharted inspired over the top cinematic adventure game. When I say over the top, I mean, constantly (almost every two minutes of gameplay) barely making a 20 foot jump from a crumbling/flaming tower while being shot at...
The 'anthropology' is laughable. It isn't successful at the open worldy kind of things it tries to pull off, and Laura feels like a weak character. Not weak in a physical or mental sense. No, she is super human, constantly being tortured, stabbed, cut, taking huge deadly falls, etc... There just isn't much to her. The strongest part to her is the pseudo-LBTQ relationship she has with Sam, who you are trying to save throughout the game. A little nice it's a girl trying to save a girl in this video game, but still, it's very worn territory.
Despite all of that, I still enjoyed it for the visuals and the fun exploration and movement that the game offers. Even 8 years later, running the game on max settings looks really great most of the time and the story has enough of a pull that it at least keeps you entertained while you enjoy running around the environments.

Interesting as perhaps one of the first games Shigeru Miyamoto worked on, though it's unclear in what capacity. It is not bad, despite my rating, but after playing it for a few minutes, I didn't have any desire to continue. It's a twin stick shooter essentially with understandably antiquated feeling controls.
The motif of saving a woman, only to have to do it all over again, though certainly not a unique concept does reoccur in Donkey Kong, which makes you wonder if it was Miyamoto's idea.
