SWEDISH WOMEN WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT THIS 💯💯

this is that good good killer shit. as the final game in the series, Face Of the Killer is absolutely fantastic.

in its presentation, it's the most advanced, with even more from the game's camera. the prior games do cool things with the camera, yes, but this one kicks so much ass with all the new things it tries. narrative is progressed through the new uses of the camera, moods are set, and yet the classic Of the Killer camera 'jank' is all still wholly present. the use of 3D is increased, effectively, while still maintaining the delightful cartoony art style the series is known for. our main protagonist, BB, is even more expressive than ever, too. there are so many more unique facial expressions for our girlie, and i love her so so much.

everything really comes together in this one. with references to all the past games, it's an excellent send-off, and definitely my new favorite in the series. it's just as surreal as its siblings, if not more so. all of thecatamites' presented themes over the course of the series are present, while still covering new territory that makes his games so damn delightful and so damn meaningful as art. the concept of history is fuckin weird! the way that manmade constructions just kinda stack on top of each other is fuckin weird! figuring out what you're going to do after college sucks! what the fuck even is immersive theater?? yet Of the Killer doesn't stop there at those surface level observations, and makes whole games out of those concepts adorned with juicy social commentary. this one blends all of those fuckers together in a wonderful cacophony and honestly? i don't even feel smart enough to talk about any of it in a way that's constructive. maybe some day when i replay all of these games in the future, i'll take a deeper dive into the politics "of the killer". just know that i fucking love it and i agree so hard with many of the sentiments thecatamites presents in this series.

the game makes fun of many horror tropes, and then flips the script ropes you in with them. it's a constant back and forth, and it isn't afraid to even make fun of its own construction at times. the humor is incredibly casual and so effortless, yet the more grim moments are still unsettling. he has this way of writing that makes you feel like you forgot how to read while still being coherent, and i love it to death. i'm sad that this is the last one, but damn, it did not disappoint me.

y'know, maybe they're right. history IS a nightmare-- and loving it!

[Much to think about.]

Edit:
[Okay I thought.]
[Psycholonials is an amazing art piece that delves deeply into the emotions & situations that surround art & mental illness & how the feedback loop they can create with each other can obliterate everyone involved but especially those so close to the epicenter of it.]

[A lot of this comic is ugly, especially in the beginning. The coldness that comes from a lack of care about the current self, that will always lead to acts of suicide, either literal or social. In this case we see Zhen embrace the vilifying agony of social suicide, & embrace the destruction of herself.]

[This is perhaps one of the most mentally ill creations I have ever experienced, along with things like Girl Interrupted, Midsommar, Lady Bird, or even Celeste; but Psycholonials uses its medium in a very important way that alters the perception of this special type of story that we may have experienced before. It gives the illusion of choice to the "player" when really it is just dictating the proof that Zhen had many moments where she could stop indulging in her self destruction.]

[When in a self-destructive state, it becomes really hard to see things for what they truly are; & the projected self will always permeate through every perception of the events that transpire. It is impossible to not see everything as some aspect of yourself & some aspect of your responsibility; & with that you need all of this trauma to prove that you are suffering & that you either deserve it or this shows that you are TRULY mentally ill & therefore more valid in your pain.]

[The epilogue subverts the entire medium, & gives autonomy & choice to the sufferer, the character themselves. In a claim of selfishness that says "there is never a need for suffering, & nothing is ever as big as it seems, you can pick yourself & it will be okay. Choosing to heal is okay, besides, if you can't fight for yourself how do you expect to fight for anyone else?"]

Before the Green Moon effortlessly distills a moment of life in all of its harsh, tearing, enduring beauty. It is the rare kind of game which promises that you never have to say goodbye to wonderful people you meet, and it says so with as much cruel sincerity as someone would in real life.

If you can truly open your heart, please pick up this beautiful game. Play it and reflect on where you're at, and why you're going. I promise it is worth your time.

Ctrl Alt Ego Is One Of The Better Gaming Experiences I've Had In Recent Memory

With its fair amount of uniqueness and quickness, the only way I can describe this piece is as the aftermath of a rough, drunk, unprotected sex session between a puzzle game like Portal and a sci-fi immersive sim like Prey. It's the most 'immsimmy' immersive sim game on the market, if that makes any sense. The player creativity here is equal to none – so great that, in some aspects, it's even a sandbox game of some sort. The puzzle-like structure here is top-notch too; it's consistent throughout the whole experience, and the fact that it's infused with some sandbox elements just adds to the almost infinite ways you can deal with each scenario. Whether it's going hog-wild on some robot enemies or actually using your brain and controlling them with EGO, which brings me to the next topic in my review: the game mechanics. Ctrl Alt Ego's combat consists of basic tools like a teleportation device, a shotgun, and even a vacuum cleaner (it's the absolute best tool, believe me). But most importantly, the EGO system sets this game apart. In this game, you control an entity that can hijack the body of any electronic device in the game by using a currency called EGO. By hijacking enemies, you can open up an infinite amount of player approach options for any scenario in each level. To this day, I still can't grasp the fact that this masterclass was made by only two (but incredible) individuals. I cannot recommend it enough, and if you're reading this, please go and support this awesome project – it's truly one of a kind.

Rating: 10/10, it's incredible
