after finally playing mass effect 2 on loop for years after middle school classes, i finally get to experience the trilogy in full and oooo boy is it worth it.

even though i have a clear attachment to the 2nd game, playing the 1st one actually overtook that spot, surprisingly. the way they introduce you to the world is nothing short of amazing - i will never get enough of the storytelling in this first game. i got attached to almost all the characters (sorry, ash) as they were introduced, and shepard of course is an amazing playable character that is so so iconic. the world building is unreal and something ive never seen in a video game before, and doubt i ever will. it truly felt like i was a part of it and it was a magical world to be in. i cant say much for the actual combat gameplay. i played adept and vanguard on my 2 runs and both times i ended up not using my powers almost Ever. maybe its from backtracking from ME2, but the lack of auto lock/tracking for the powers makes it Very tricky to land - plus, it felt like most of the time the powers werent effective or impactful at all. the guns were more than adequate. and My God - i will forever miss the heat sink system now that ive had a taste for it. no idea why theyd ever get rid of it.

(will edit this to include more indepth on ME2 and ME3 when its not 2 am but v good games i love)

Mass Effect Trilogy lives up to the space opera label. its been one hell of a ride, commander.

first ever final fantasy, only ff ive finished (so far) and i love it to bits.

love love Love the combat - its so in-depth, from paradigm setting to actually knowing the best time to switch them mid-battle, to pairing up the characters and equipping them properly. character customisation is great but the actual levelling is both hell with the grind, and linearity.

i love the mythology, lore and pantheon but the actual plot execution is very...eh. yes i hate the linearity. yes i hate the (very pretty) hallways and the fact that the party really opens up like, 8 chapters in. but the theme and message of the game is pretty great.

the characters also go through very clear arcs and change - no one can tell me otherwise. from hopes cowardice, to wrathful vengeance, to steadfast leadership, or vanille's balance of remorseful guilt and fake happiness - these characters are full of life and enrichen the story even more. it doesnt take a rocket-science formula to understand what drives them and why they act the way they do in-game.

overall 9/10 would not replay the first 10 chapters tho bc thats true hell
