when i was in elementary school i got a massive fullscreen ad for this game that i didn't know how to close and our teacher saw it, got really pissed off and put me in detention while i was crying and pleading like "i don't even know what this lame ass wizard game is please."

gave it a go solo on switch and it wasn't really my type of game, w stuff moving in real time stressing me out. second time around i played w my friends on steam and it was a far more enjoyable experience with my urge to micromanage everything kept in check.

While frequently compared to BotW for seemingly no reason other than being open world games that released in the same week, HZD is a solid new IP that is about god damn robot dinosaurs. I don't think very highly of Aloy, but the setting and world building are exceptional.

Genshin Impact Fun Facts! The age of consent is 18 years old!

genshin copies from a lot of different games (botw, okami etc etc) and bakes it into a gacha system meant to rob people of money, in the end resulting in a game that's a little of everything and doesn't particularly excel at any of them. it's fun for a while, and being able to do combos with different elements by switching party members is a great concept, but in the end it's a free to play game and the drawbacks come in the form of a lot of pointless filler and gated lategame.
