finally beat this, and yea i loved it.

dungeons were a big step up from botw, i just wish they were all on the same level as the gerudo temple. that one's wayyyy better than the other ones (fuck the goron one that one stinks). the building is so fun, its like botw meets garry mod. i also love that the game is open ended enough that you dont always have to build shit to progress.

its hard to compare this directly to botw in terms of which is better, cause like yea this is way better as a game But, it never made me feel the same way as playing botw for the first time and really exploring the world. the cave systems sometimes got close, and i think thats far and away the best addition, cuz the depths kinda suck 80% of the time, and the sky is such a small part that eh. I probably couldnt go back to botw after all the stuff this game added but man its hard to say that this definitively ranks higher for me idk.

also the story was fun but link and zelda shouldve kissed, 0/5

it was very cute and funny, I should've probably played this sooner. all the music is great and the art was stellar!

im surprised how much trouble i had with some of those later minigames

if you like the blue rat and his friends dont skip this!!!!


extra note not directly about this game:
considering the "braindead sonic twitter discourse of the week" is currently about this franchise over relying on self referential nods to "better times" in its writing, I think you can point to this an example of doing that in a non-overbearing and fun way. (although i guess it being a visual novel heavily focusing on the characters as opposed to a sonic centric platformer certainly leaves more space for that idk)

very fun season and map, the train is a cool idea even if it got stale pretty quick, the weapons mods are fun and i like the bosses

the cosmetics this time around felt personally targeted to me, mgs, tmnt and cell all being added back to back made me feel like epic games was watching me from within my walls

also it shocked me just how good this game can look, this was the first season ive played on ps5 and it looks stunning at times

update: immediately after this I did this review they dropped a whole mini pass which yes i did buy and complete, so yea they got me for two more weeks right after I said i was done... anyway the turtles pass was fun :3
