Being able to save your high scores already makes this my preferred version over the original. The additional game modes are also nice, specially ultra.

However, I think this lacks the charm of that Game Boy version, at least with its simplicity and iconic music. I honestly prefer the way it looked there too.

Overall, some pros, some cons, just about lukewarm on it overall.

Castle of Ordeal and class change was brief and fun! Cool to see the sprite change

23

Completed Mount Gulg and Ice Cave. Got airship.

Airship has made my life so much easier. Feels amazing to fly it for the first time.

05

Completed the Aldean Sea section, ready to go past the canal

04

Defeated Astos, collecting loot. Still need to loot the bottom floor of marsh cave.

02

Honestly the fact that you miss extra attacks is good. Gives some strategy and nuance to an otherwise stale, bread and butter battle system.

Other than that, man, things are expensive. Took a while to grind out pre-marsh cave prep.

Love the charm of the world. Its music, the enemies, and the opening titles are awesome.

Completed Chapter 1

Loving the music and the presentation of it. Gameplay is incredibly fun and not frustrating yet. The B-Side was very satisfying to pull off and looking for remaining strawberries wasn’t as annoying as I thought it would be.

Completed Yukiko’s castle

Lacking in nuance compared to P3’s storytelling, though not entirely as its setting tells a story of its own.

Making your own characters and band already adds so much to the experience. Feels much more immersive. Also no intrusive sound effects during overdrive and much better mixing.
