i remember hearing about the announcement of this game, and hated the idea that they were gonna make random encounters like the GO catching mechanics. but, i ended up picking it up recently at a discount cause i felt like playing a pokemon game again and hadn't played this one yet!
surprisingly, i actually enjoyed it more than i thought i would. at the time i had forgotten about the GO mechanics, but once i had gotten into it, it really didn't bother me. though with the rare times that you battle wild pokemon (the sleeping snorlaxes, legendaries) i wish there hadn't been a 5 minute time limit for them. other than that, it was alright. i really liked that you can see pokemon on the overworld now, that's something else i thought i wouldn't like (as it would take away the ~surprise~, but honestly it just saves time).
post game seems cool, i like that there's a master trainer for every pokemon and that you can fly on a pokemon on the overworld. seeing blue in the game was nice, and i heard you can fight red and green too.. not sure if i'll get that far, but if i were a kid i'd definitely have fun doing that haha
