Really a product of its time, but also very charming. It does have its flaws of course, but every first in series' has. Music was really good, although there's only a few tracks. Encounter rate was really the most annoying thing. Hard to recommend to everyone since I know that people that are accustomed to modern games will probably not really like it, but one can always try and see, be it for the history then.

First "real" rally game. Because of that, it was really challenging for me. Gold trophy in championship on intermediate.

Gameplay wise it did improve a lot, but on the story definitely did not. Luckily the world is almost as great as in the first one, but that kind of depends which one you've played first. The first one is still my favourite.

Childhood game, banger music and of all the GBC driving games it's actually fine!

Finally got translated! It was really different experience than what I was expecting it to be. Contained a few nuisances but overall was a great experience. Maybe the controls were a bit outdated tho, nothing against point n clicks, but I'm sure it was its weak spot.

A short classic, doesn't require that much effort to complete at least once. Fun and it's not even that janky.

Huge nostalgia factor for me. Almost did not make through the first few levels, but it got fun after those. I don't know why, it just did. Not sure if I would recommend this nowadays tho. Product of its time

1996

Finished on Nightmare as well as on Normal. In retrospect it feels like the next obvious step after DOOM, but the truth is not often that clear. Too many game companies aren't able to make a good follow up for anything. ID is of course of another breed, just glad that it feels good years later and the new source port is great way to experience this right now.

I don't know I don't hate it that much as others may. Well the jokes are outdated of course. Levels were fun, played the expansions also. Have hard time deciding between this and Duke. Maybe Duke was more polished tho. As a Build engine fan, i'm very biased and liked to play this very much.

Completed while playing all of the big build engine games. I mean just a classic. Not sure if I like this more than Shadow Warrior, probably tho. Played the base game, and the expansions. The expansions levels were not that remarkable but still worth playing and they have fun themes. I have a bias for build engine games, I just love them.

Played all of the episodes, Cryptic Passage and Death Wish. Possibly the best FPS game ever? Easily the best Build engine game. Enemy design and style is just so spot on that it's easy to be a fan. So satisfying to play, even tho it's harder than your average FPS. My favourite especially is the sound design, all of the voice lines just perfect. Why am I even saying anything, just go play it.

2015

As a remaster it does the job very well, nothing wrong with that. Keeping this short, enjoyed all of the game, except the end levels just ruined it for me, or at least lessened the feeling of the experience. Otherwise greatly recommend this classic FPS for retro gamers specifically.

It's very interesting to see how far we've come, but if I'm really honest, level design in this can really be grinding your gears. It's understandable tho, since the choices were really limited when it came to the engine possibilities. Enjoyed this mostly, but the last chapter was tedious. Recommended for anyone interested in retro shooters or history of fps games.

What a great example of remake. Supposedly you could think this would've been Resident Evil 2 back in the day if it weren't for the technical limitations then. I have to play the originals now for sure. Leon completed, maybe other scenario later. Definitely enjoyed this one a lot.

Different "boomer shooter" for a change. Weapons are not the typical type and the gameplay is somewhat different because of that. Above average in it's genre given its uniqueness.
