As a childhood fan of the original, I both appreciate various aspects of this remake and find myself frustrated with others. They manage to stick very close to what is a pretty solid blueprint to begin with, and many deviations serve to flesh out and inject more humanity into the world and characters, but ultimately you're left with a questioning feeling of why they felt necessary to make this remake stick so closely to the original anyway when a full reboot that takes this concept and goes further would have been so much more interesting.
It's worth picking up and playing through on sale as a weekend binge game, but I would recommend most people just stick with the original, which is full of a charm all its own.

Though a very spooky, perhaps perfect introductory experience for one who is new to the medium, DDLC ultimately left me wanting more. Don't play this expecting the game to launch into a grand finale that will make its myriad set of tricks and tools feel earned, and you'll likely have a much better time.
HITMAN soars above and beyond, revitalizing a series once thought doomed. Through a process of radical reinvention that pays off handsomely, it manages to both embrace and take the sandbox level design that made previous series standout Blood Money so beloved to completely new heights, adding a mindblowing amount of complexity and replayability that the franchise has never seen before.
