a little short for my taste, but this game is great. the gameplay loop feels amazing. managing your cult and villagers is honestly more fun than the combat usually, the combat can get pretty frustrating and clunky at times. but again, the cult management and villagers are the high point of the game, it's really satisfying building up your own village with your animal crossing villagers.

compared within the other soulsborne series entries, this game excels in worldbuilding, pacing, visuals, and boss design. what it does lack, however, is difficulty. this game can rock you if it's your first souls title, but after beating it once it never poses a threat again. but again, it absolutely excels in about every other aspect. this game has absolutely breathtaking views and worlds and bosses that will make you mad but look amazing while doing it. but that doesn't mean your character can't look amazing either, there is amazing armor options and overall amazing customization.

amazing gameplay loop, sort of roguelite aspects. great daily life/adventure style and both gameplay styles were enjoyable. the story was also very casual but pulled off what it wanted to do perfectly, imo. very casual and goofy game that took itself just seriously enough to have a charm to it.

2018

my favorite game ever, amazingly paced story with great roguelike aspects and fast-paced gameplay that rewards practice and playtime. the progression feels rewarding, and no two runs will ever be the same because of the different boons, keepsakes, weapons, mirror talents, and pact conditions.
