How far can you before you die? Classic rogue-lite question.. and they made it part of the story! That and every part of the story land so well, this game is full of characters that have personality, and I always want to know what there up to (not something I usually say about this genre).
The gameplay offers you different weapons to find the way you want to fight through the depths of the underworld to get your way out. Weapons you don't use will intermittently offer you rewards for giving them a try. This is sort of MO for the difficulty curve of the whole game; you'll be offered rewards for trying new things or making it harder, but you'll never be punished for making the game easier for yourself.

I only ever messed around and punched random people on the street and stole vehicles, but I had a great time..
Lovely pixelated rogue-like. The 2d platforming feels good, and all the characters and items give endless replayability. Also, the music slaps.
