great great asset great great asset
i only play with friends and we're mostly vanilla and it's still really fun without extra mods thats how good the game s

Boy do i have thoughts about this game. I got my physical copy on feb 12 somehow so i blasted thru it.

general non spoiler review:

gameplay: 4/5
overall aesthetic: 3/5
story premise: 3/5
story execution: 1.5/5
new character concepts: 4/5
new character execution: 3/5
spirits: 2.5/5
returning characters: 3.5/5
cgs: -500/5
Yashiki: 3.5/5

gameplay is simple and solid, the 2d sidescrolling is visually a cool change of pace !! it kinda plays funny when turning around though but its endearing to me so i like it a lot. Also i like seeing chara height differences directly its super cute. i do like the story premise since it had a lot of potential. keyword had. the art in general is still nice but i am not a fan of most of the cg content.

if i had to rate the 3 spirit hunter games so far of best to worst (generally speaking): NG (peak) > death mark 1 (foundation) > death mark 2 (looks into camera)

i will say though i have room for Tolerance for this game because the devs did experience (haha) data corruption that wiped all of their work at some point. so that probably affected how the final game ended up being. this is my copium. if anybody wants my unhinged long ramble review i put it on my tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/iunner/744360498081021952/this-is-my-full-death-mark-2shibito-magire?source=share

when she takes you to the candy store

this game felt rly short but sweet! the story is super interesting and fun to piece together. the art bangs. the writing is really funny too these characters are soooo fun to follow and interact with. there are a few spots where its clear what u have to do, but its a little confusing on How to get it done but otherwise it didnt require a lot of brainpower for me (as someone who does not think too hard when playing these kinds of vns)
it was all around a good time i enjoyed it a lot!!!!!! i may go back to try and get all the achievements eventually.

omg wasn't expecting this on this site LMAOAHWR;GOILSDJ
i dont think ive fully read any of the main story so do i actually know whats going on? not really! i mostly just read for gou, kaname, shion, and ikuto cus i like those guys the most. i reopened the game for the ace attorney collab, didnt get anything, haven't touched it again since. i love anime men candy crush with drugs. i tried to watch the anime becus i wanted to hear everyone talk together but i honestly snzzzzz

nikki is everybodys girlfriend and i like collecting clothes for her but dont actually know how to make her look hot or cute

This review contains spoilers

ryuki kuruto is mentally stable. trust bro

i'm still finishing the game so no rating yet but so far i love the tamagotchi feature it does absolutely nothing for the story/overall gameplay but it makes me happy

(i hit "spoiler warning" but idk if that's working so theres mild spoilers ahead)

UPDATE 4/19/2023 I finished the game and have Thoughts(tm) so this has now been marked for spoilers. Ill update with details later but general post-game thoughts and feelings are This sure is an uchikoshi experience. Story premise IS cool but it could've been handled a lot better. Gameplay-wise it was enjoyable for the most part, some somnium controls felt a bit janky but it didn't affect my overall experience too much

okay 4/21/23 i will condense my thoughts. i think if i knew absolutely nothing about aitsf and played this as a standalone game i couldve enjoyed it a lot more. the core story is pretty good & interesting i like it a lot. the characters that actually matter to the central plot are good. can't say the same for some other charas that feel like theyre just there as . "flavor text" for lack of better wording.
all of my complaints for this game go to the writing because for the sake of "not spoiling aitsf" mizuki and date are NOT interesting. that's why i say maybe not knowing anything about aitsf would make this experience different. i have so many gripes with how they handled a lot of the characterizations and then one of the twists blows a BLARING hole into one of the core themes/messages of aitsf so its like. Cmon man.

i will say though i really enjoyed the silly 999 "somnium" bonus i love aiba tenmyouji they didnt need to program any of this but its really fun that they did. i wonder what its like to experience this without knowing anything about 999

i have not played ruina or lobocorp so i have like zero clue wht the deeper universal lore here is but im enjoying this. the gameplay is the most ive ever had to think in a long while

i swear to god my game data never saved because i didnt have a memory card and also i borrowed this game from a friend so i thought the whole game was just the farm and temple levels

feel like i almost broke my touch screen with how much i would play this

i have no body coordination so i definitely wasnt moving smoothly but god i miss this

fundamental to my developing 13 yr old brain. how does the music still go so hard

BWAAAAAP BWAAAAAP BWAP BWAP BWAAAAAP

dont think i ever finished this because i didnt know how to read (probably) when i played it but GOD it was fun

i dont think i ever finished this. i never played the first games. but i still loved the experience. the animations are so cute

my very first horror game that ive revisited a few times. i always get lost running around but thats on me. very fun eerie environments
