this is seriously the hardest i've cried over any game ever. i was curled up in a ball sobbing for hours after finishing it

literally the perfect game. it was robbed of the GOTY i tell you!!!

i absolutely loved the gameplay in this one! finding all the ways to mess around with the ai was probably my favorite part.

my main gripe is how, despite having a very enjoyable and thought-provoking plot (that i'm honestly still coming to terms with), it got a bit overwhelming having ~3 plot twists per cutscene sequence.

apart from that, this is a great game to play, and i think the message is something that really stands now, even after the decades since launch

sims 3 is absolutely my favorite mainline sims game, if only you didn't have to mod it to death to run it smoothly 😔

i'm just so grateful i went into this game for the first time not knowing the main plot twist

the best sigcorp series game in my opinion. every time i replay this game i just cry harder.

i played it for the first time on the day it launched, and after coming to terms with the games itself, went into an absolute frenzy over what it could mean for the future of the series. it's just such a perfect episode, both as a standalone entry, as well as a piece to the puzzle that is this series.

anyways, it's been about 4 years now and i still constantly think about this game.

This review contains spoilers

i've seen a lot of people complaining about how meaningless this game feels with the ultimate twist of everything being a simulation, but honestly i'd digress.

the entire point of the series is that there's value in fantasy as well as reality. to the quincy and lynri we saw in this game, it was reality. i just think there's a lot of power in the fact that they actively choose to live their best life, despite knowing they may not be at the top of the layer.

that said, i have some gripes with the way the plot is presented compared to the other games in the series, but overall i think this entry in the series is just as great as the others.

truly the most video game i have ever played. i made everyone i know buy this

this game is honestly such a blast to play, i got a bit scared starting out because there were an alarming amount of new systems in place, but somehow it just works perfectly.

the story is a bit confusing at first, but once it gets rolling it all just falls together beautifully. i cried like a baby at the end too, 10/10 i absolutely understand why people hype this game up so much now

steam randomizer pulling this game up for me was either the best or worst thing that's ever happened to me, and i can't decide which one

on a serious note, the horror is perfection, and i'm not even a horror fan. i think the power of this game really comes in seeing all the different endings and secrets it has to offer! some of them have genuinely had me questioning certain implications to the plot for weeks.

i love the sound-based radar system and i love recruiting soliders, but sadly those are the only parts of the gameplay i found enjoyable. it's just really annoying and clunky having to go into first person each and every time you have to shoot, especially after how good the combat was in mgs3!

the cutscenes were EXCELLENT, i loved the comic book style they had, honestly seeing all the cutscenes was my main reason for pushing through this game in its entirety

that said, i love the story! i've seen a lot of people complaining about how fanservice-y this game is, which, while i do see, i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing here. in this game's case, seeing all these characters from the past games meet works perfectly for the story it's trying to tell.

banging pots and pans together until they drop chapter 12

speaking as someone who doesn't have any sort of nostalgic connection to metal gear (i only just started playing the series) i really think this is the perfect conclusion to the series as a whole

i loved the gameplay in this one so much, the level design was on point, especially some of those boss fights!! i just wish there was more of it between all the cutscenes (i don't really mind, they were very fun to watch)

it's super neat seeing how far the graphics have come, as well! but honestly i think this game is a bit ugly, especially compared to the past games. it's meant to be realistic, of course, but it doesn't have that same stylistic charm that the other solid games have. it's just a bit...bland looking

my main gripe has to be how forced/rushed some parts of the story felt, but ultimately it's not something i really mind. the rest of the game and all the homages to the past more than made up for it, in my opinion
