Played for RetroAchievements. Nothing too special here. The powerups are cool but I ended up just using the climbing one unless I needed to shoot something. As retro(ish) platformers go there's nothing worth checking out here, really. There's a few secrets though that might make a replay kind of interesting, didn't go for any of that this time around.

Played for RetroAchievements. I know I've played this before, but I have no idea why or when. I liked it well enough, but the final boss really soured my taste, especially with the emulator issues I was having (but I can't fault the game for that). It's a fun take on Mario 64, the levels are a bit barebones but the minigames are a fun diversion. Super polished which you don't see in a lot of SM64 hacks.

Mastered for RetroAchievements. I was really impressed by this. Unfortunately I had to look up a bunch of stuff, I never would have found half the stuff in this game, at least not with the level of patience I had while playing it. But there's nothing wrong with looking stuff up, I guess. It's nice to see a more ambitious hack especially when it was made by one person. The polish is off the charts for sure. This is enjoyable if you like both of these games.

Played for RetroAchievements. This is a big one, I've heard great things about this game for a long time and never tried it out. And it's fine! I love Diddy Kong Racing and this is a lot like that, but it isn't as good! Just what I think! The overworld stuff is less interesting, the tracks are less interesting, the boss battles are less interesting. It's a good kart racer, I've certainly played worse, but it's just barely there. But I see why people love it.

Played for RetroAchievements. I haven't played much Crash at all, and I get the feeling this wasn't the best introduction to it. But I prefer 2D platformers to whatever Crash normally is, so I enjoyed it. It's a short game, but the levels are so samey it felt like it dragged on too long (especially the rail shooter ones).

Mastered for RetroAchievements. I didn't realize until now that there were Banjo romhacks. This is a cool demo, and honestly for what it is it's designed pretty well, but there's not much to it. I had fun running around the island collecting stuff though.

2010

Mastered for RetroAchievements. When I was into SMW hacking (around when this hack came out, though I don't remember it from those days), I really liked the unique ones that did fun stuff with the game mechanics. This is the platonic ideal of that. 8 levels with completely original ideas that are all fun and all play differently enough to keep you on your toes. This is probably my favorite SMW hack I've ever played. If it's a whole series I really need to check the rest out.

2022

Played for RetroAchievements. Fun little homebrew. Bought for 2 bucks on itch.io, I think this is the first time I've spent money on a homebrew game. It deserves it though, it has a lot of polish and it's a fun little game.

Played for RetroAchievements. It's just Mega Man X. I haven't even played the original recently enough to notice what was different. I think the Mega Buster worked a bit differently? But not enough to matter. Fun game but can't really give the hack credit for that.

Played for RetroAchievements. You might think it's stupid to rate a game like this 5 stars. It isn't. This game honestly blew me away. I played a ton of Guitar Hero around when 3 came out and I haven't played many rhythm games since then. The system in D-Pad Hero is so simple but so difficult, and very satisfying to nail a hard part.

When I realized what was happening I said "oh my god" out loud, and that kept happening whenever the game threw more and more complex patterns at me. It's unbelievable how this simple game made me feel while playing. Never got old during the hour of attempts it took me to get bronze on all 4 songs. Would love to go back to it and try and really get good sometime. If you like Guitar Hero and similar games, please give this a try.

Played for RetroAchievements. Haven't played the original, I'm sure it's just as good, but I really liked this. Always been a fan of Wario games but I haven't played a bunch of them. This was honestly really good, and assuming all the levels were original designs, really impressive for a hack. (But even by normal standards it was still great.)

Mastered for RetroAchievements. Subpar port of minesweeper that drops inputs all the time. I like minesweeper a lot but this version was not fun to play.

Mastered for RetroAchievements. Fun little distraction and a couple of the challenge achievements are hard enough to be engaging. You'd struggle to stick to this one for more than 30 or so minutes but I think you'd have fun during that time.

Mastered for RetroAchievements. I actually liked this a lot, the puzzles were challenging towards the end and it's high quality despite the short length. My main gripe is the touch-only controls, which I'm sure feel a lot better on a console. With a mouse though it's a bit of a chore. Cool homebrew!

Played for RetroAchievements. Pretty barebones kart racer, with subpar controls and items that don't help you basically at all. It's not offensively bad I guess but I wouldn't choose to play it again.
