343 really know how to make a beautiful looking game, and the fact it's runs at 60fps on the OG XBone is incredible. But for All of their accomplishments with this game their are numerous trade offs and flaws to get there. 60fps campaign, no split screen co-op. Beautiful graphics, but overly cluttered and busy art design, etc.

The biggest issue with the game comes from the campaign. The multiplayer can be fun in warzone and customs. The multiple boss fights against the same boss is unforgivable. But overall the game was doomed to fail purely from the changes made to the mechanics. Yes you can sprint, but the enemies are made farther away, but they don't want you to snipe from far away so you get less ammo, you have four team mates, but you do a quarter of the damage you should with said less ammo, leaving you to try and pick off and move in against enemies that hide in cover too often and have weapons with homing shots that do too much damage because there are now four of you. You can clamber, but that means we are making ledges so high you can't see over them until clambering, you also can't shoot while clambering said blind climb.

And then the levels pacing. Far too many levels as blue team and not as much as master chief. Far too many levels on the same planet. Walking simulator levels. Making Sanghelios feel ultra mid. Misleading marketing campaign pre launch, etc.

Some levels are fun, but it's so few and far between that overall the game makes you hate playing it.

One of the greatest JRPGs of all time, play it!. Amazing story, characters, progression, world, and it will truely make you question your existence.

Amazing gameplay, amazing world, let down by a greedy publisher who gutted the games story and cut out content to sell as DLC later on. It was still great fun to play, but always felt like you were getting small fragments of a greater narrative that we would never get.
