343 really know how to make a beautiful looking game, and the fact it's runs at 60fps on the OG XBone is incredible. But for All of their accomplishments with this game their are numerous trade offs and flaws to get there. 60fps campaign, no split screen co-op. Beautiful graphics, but overly cluttered and busy art design, etc.
The biggest issue with the game comes from the campaign. The multiplayer can be fun in warzone and customs. The multiple boss fights against the same boss is unforgivable. But overall the game was doomed to fail purely from the changes made to the mechanics. Yes you can sprint, but the enemies are made farther away, but they don't want you to snipe from far away so you get less ammo, you have four team mates, but you do a quarter of the damage you should with said less ammo, leaving you to try and pick off and move in against enemies that hide in cover too often and have weapons with homing shots that do too much damage because there are now four of you. You can clamber, but that means we are making ledges so high you can't see over them until clambering, you also can't shoot while clambering said blind climb.
And then the levels pacing. Far too many levels as blue team and not as much as master chief. Far too many levels on the same planet. Walking simulator levels. Making Sanghelios feel ultra mid. Misleading marketing campaign pre launch, etc.
Some levels are fun, but it's so few and far between that overall the game makes you hate playing it.

I finished this game on release and again a few years ago. Overall, its a fine game, nothing more nothing less. It beats the socks off a lot of other games, but not what was expected of it. The game is unfinished, and is essentially a bunch of missions in large maps with only a handful of interesting outposts with deep mechanics and hardly anything to use them on. What we got of the story is fine, but sad we didn't ever get the proper ending.

This is a weird one. The game feels like a slog the first time through. The story is campy but varied, the characters annoying yet charming, and the battle system boring yet deep. The game is pretty to look at, but there are only and handful of interesting locations. It's a weird game that you will love and hate at the same time.

This game is Mistwalkers finest. If you like FFX then this game is perfect for you. The story is incredibly slow, and some levels and dungeons will make you screen with the slow animations. But the leveling of the characters and mastering the battle system are super satisfying. Especially when you start to destroy end game bosses.
This version has a few changes such as added stamps instead of loot, and vastly different textures not always for the better. There is also a late game battle gauntlet that has been changed due to the introduction of the Wolf Link Amiibo. It includes the best parts of the Wii and GameCube versions and is the best way to play the game.

This is where the trilogy came to die. The ticking clock of the game counting down days loses all of its urgency and utility when you find out there is ample time to do everything in those set days. The graphics are aweful, the gameplay is aweful. However, the world locations are beautiful, and the battle system is fantastic if you stick with it. If you played the other two, play this too.
