this is such a strange game to me. i understand that it is totally just more open world ubisoft slop, but i fucking love it. i think there's something to the first thing you experience in a medium, and far cry 5 was the first far cry game i ever played. so with no prior concept of a far cry game, of course i would fall in love with this one. beyond just the fact that this was my first FC game, i love the midwest. i mean, i do live in it, and at times want only to leave it. but i love the midwest. there's an energy of community that permeates most towns in the midwest and far cry 5 captures that so well. everyone is so weirdly friendly and accommodating. the game world is beautiful. i found myself pulling over on the side of the road and getting out of my stolen cult truck to look at the views. its a truly gorgeous looking game. i am also obsessed with cults and how they control masses of people so this game's overarching story kept me enthralled the whole way through. great game, understand how ppl dont like it but it is endlessly replayable to me. every time i see a picture of this game i just want to jump right in again

genuinely one of the RPG's of all time. an all timer behemoth of a game that pulls all the punches and gives so much to the player. so many ways to play, so many ways to get around, so much to do. I have replayed this game many many times and every time i do its like a new experience. i find so many new and exciting things to do. the world is beautiful. night city is rendered in such an excruciating detail that i spent lots of my 170 hours just gawking at the buildings and vistas.

also incredibly poignant. ive said this before that games almost never give you slow moments where you get to take in a slice of someone's life in this world. cyberpunk gives you these little slices of life constantly. my favorite is when you snorkel with judy. all you're doing is snorkeling and talking about her past. no killing. just two people talking. it's really beautiful. ten minutes ago you were brutally assaulting gang members in santo domingo and now you're swimming underwater with judy. it's peaceful. another quiet moment i love is when you go to jackie's memorial service. its a really easy mission to never do, but i always make a point to do it. it brings a tear to my eye every time i do because a lot of care was put into this side mission. all of these characters have come to grieve and mourn jackie and you get to do so right along with them. i found myself thinking back to the konpeki plaza heist like it was real, like jackie was a real person. quiet moments in video games is something i look for. i value being able to slow down and take a moment to be brought into the world and shown something that wouldn't be obvious from a normal playthrough. the monks in night city, however annoying they may be, provide wonderful quiet moments amongst the hustle of the city around them. never change night city. your quiet moments do not go unnoticed by my V.
