Interesting narrative about going against corporations. Gameplay was really repetitive though.

Creatively very cool; I love the story and art and the acting is great. Unfortunately the game just keeps hanging on my Series X, and only when saving a checkpoint. And of course, when this happens the checkpoint isn’t saved and I have to go back and replay a substantial amount of content, none of which is skippable. Too much of this just wore out my patience. Maybe I’ll revisit it in a year or two and see if they’ve fixed it.

The last worker is a game that starts out really strong, it sets up interesting movement, gameplay and abilities, it sets up an interesting world and story that could make a real statement.... And then proceeds to not do anything with any of it. I spent the whole game waiting for the level where parcel fetching and scoreboarding kicked into overdrive, or where the story really got interesting, but it just never happens. On the one hand, it simulates the monotony of werehouse work well, on the other hand - it's still monotony...

You play as the last human worker in an Amazon-like warehouse in a dystopian future where all the other workers have been replaced by robots.
The base mechanics behind the day to day routine is fun, it’s basically “Papers please” with package inspections instead of passports, and the cell shaded cartoony graphics are nice and crisp. For a narrative driven game though, it’s such a shame that the worst part of the package is the story. It’s not only very predictable but it’s also not very well told so some of the story beats just don’t make sense at all or don’t hit the way they should. It’s a shame as the voice acting is top notch, the material they have to work with just isn’t good enough.
On top of that the second half of the game relies on being able to use fiddly mechanics in bad stealth sections and with time limits. This is the first PS VR2 game that has made me swear out loud and wanting to throw my controllers across the room after failing some of these sections 10 times in a row. It’s a shame as there is a lot to like about The Last Worker, it just needed a few more gameplay ideas and a second pass at the story.

6,8/10
The stylization from Borderlands, the plot from the Portal, the gameplay from "Papers, Please", but somehow.. not one of the aspects of the game can be called "core", the game does not stand out in any way, I won't remember any from it in the future, but I can`t turn a finger down on it.
The plot here is very bad, banal, does not cause any emotions, based on 2 flying micro-robots with terrible designs, with a bunch of "penis-ass" mediocre humor, there is no lore, just.. we are the last person in the robotic futuristic "Amazon", there is a warehouse, there are secret ventilations, that's the whole universe of the game.
The gameplay is divided into 2 types: the main work of transferring boxes, marking damaged/inappropriate, this type is quite small, and you may not even get all types of goods in 1 walktrough, and the second: this is the simplest stealth/puzzle in ventilation, and runner-sections. On the gamepad, the controls are more or less convenient, all the mechanics seem to be done well, it has variety, they don’t have time to get bored, there are only a couple of annoying places, a mission with throwing rats into robots, and a mini-game like "Flappy bird",
In general, I can only recommend if you like the concept of a future warehouse worker on a flying chair, but don't expect depth in story and mechanics. I don’t know what about VR, maybe there are more impressions in it, by the way, there will be nice on Steam Deck.
p.s. A very similar situation with the recent game - "Backfirewall_" , there was also a good concept, but very simple mechanics, which for some reason were very stretched for more than 4 hours of timing, although there were obviously fewer ideas, I'm starting to lose faith in indie games (
