both of my play sessions were marked by game-induced headaches. it's probably not as bad as this rating would suggest, and i might even invest a bit more time in it just to see, but by cribbing so directly from their previous multiplayer outing while tailoring it to modern specifications, turtle rock have done an astounding job of demonstrating just how totally impoverished our multiplayer games have become in the past decade. shortlist for the most depressing game in a long while.

It's a shame that it is abandoned because it had the potential to be a great game. Nice concept and gameplay and fun with friends for a short time. It's one of those games that you download once in every one or two years with your friends and then that one friend stops playing it because he's bored and then the other friends stop playing because it's not fun anymore without the whole gang and eventually you have to stop playing too because you are clinging onto the memories of the fun times you had with your friends while you all were playing together.

I have as much fun as drinking poison.

plays more like a weird mix of save the world and call of duty rather than a left4dead ripoff

this is not a good thing

Most useless bots I've ever played. Too glitchy, crashes 5 times on my PS4 Pro

Okay so picture Left 4 Dead. Alright? Now get that out of your head because this game is nothing like Left 4 Dead nor is it a good game.

Left 4 dead without the soul, doesn't understand the design of L4D and what makes it so unique and perfect like the special infected that change depending on your pacing of the game and makes it interesting thanks to the sound queue of each one, with every design so memorable and telling you the backstory of the SI without saying a word

And that's just on one thing, I can't remember one campaign from this game or what makes it unique, contrary to L4D where I can remember every campaign with their own taste and feel like Dark Carnival, Death Toll, The Parish, here we only have city city mountain? city city, same blue grayish feel

Just play L4D2 for real, that game is perfect, this is a lot of peepee poopoo

Personally I think this game is better than Left 4 Dead, and absolutely succeeded in creating a modern reimagining of that classic formula. I understand people being disappointed that there was no campaign versus mode, but as someone who is all about the co-op, this game really delivers. The shooting feels satisfying, and the various mutations and difficulty modes give fantastic replay value that helps make each playthrough feel very distinct. Also, I love how you tilt your gun when crouched, that's the true innovation. Impractical, maybe, but it sure is cool.

turtle rock has achieved something so fascinating here by painstakingly crafting a game that at no point manages to convince you that you wouldn't be having more fun by immediately alt-f4ing and booting up left 4 dead

left 4 dead 2 servers are still online btw, guys

Having tried out the beta I was optimistic in thinking that maybe the rest of the campaign would be better, but to put it simply no it's not good, it sucks and it would be a waste of money if I didn't get it for free

É muito esquisito que ele é praticamente igual Left 4 Dead, mas ao mesmo tempo... Sei lá, falta algo que L4D tinha. Mas ainda me diverti horrores apesar de não ter achado tao bom quanto L4D

I wish they just made Left 4 Dead III.

Only enjoyable if you play through it with friends.

A marked improvement, so many years later, over the Left 4 Dead games. But you'd certainly expect that much! I had plenty of fun and more than a little frustration working through this campaign with two buddies over the past month and a half, starting out mostly just spraying bullets and swinging bats and running from Point A to Point B, ending up having lengthy conversations about deck builds and level strategies. We learned the game together, and taught each other as we went. And that's kind of cool and rare these days, no? All that said, the game itself was repetitive and sometimes felt borderline broken in the early going. There'll be no need whatsoever to go back for this one a few years from now if you pass on it now.

A fairly interesting take on the Left 4 Dead formula by part of the original team (granted, essentially the 3rd string on those games, but still). The card system was a fun way to differentiate builds that was unfortunately gutted. I enjoyed my time with it on release, though.

Decent, but nothing like L4D2, the extra mechanics aren’t great, the special infected are spongey, and the netplay is worse than stepping on a Lego brick.

the zombies called me the n word

>> Contras
• ZUMBIS ESPECIAIS : Não achei nenhum deles interessante.
• CARTAS : Não entendi nada pra q serve aquilo.

Barebones, weak and dull. Back 4 Blood is only a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead in name and the fact it has zombies, but everything else lacks the style, effort and fun that a 10+ year old game has. Nice job.

It's an inferior Left 4 Dead clone. It does some things right like having unlockable weapon and character skins, but it's bogged down by a needlessly convoluted card system and is plagued with bugs even after two years of release.

I gave up on Act 4 (of 6) of the campaign - played nothing else - and so far I've: Fallen through the map, had my character "die" hanging on a ledge that didn't exist, and got insta-killed in the final phase of a really annoying and unfun boss fight at Act 4.

Speaking of said boss fight, it's needlessly hard to do with the bots on the easiest difficulty and quite frankly, I can't be bothered to try to go through it again or to finish the slog that is this solo campaign.

I don't know about other platforms, but it's pretty telling to the quality of the game when only 9% of the Xbox playerbase has finished Act II of the game (yes, I'm aware it being on Gamepass has a bit to do with it, but still).

It's a shame that Turtle Rock couldn't nail down the formula and make a good Left 4 Dead successor with this (or presumably Evolve). Maybe they'll get it right the next time, but I wouldn't count on it.

I got exactly what was advertised to me. I got a new zombie shooter that was made for the original studio that made Left 4 Dead, and that's it. I can't say it's awful, and in all honesty I did have some fun; but that's it. I can't say that this game released Left 4 Dead, but it did indeed.................................do..........ssssomething...........................uuuhhhmmmmmmm............yeah I don't know I don't really have anything to say about this game.

Really wish more people gave this game a fair shake, because I honestly think it might be better than L4D. The card system is pretty great and anybody who says that they're just incremental upgrades simply didn't level up past the first row of cards and didn't bother trying to actually learn the systems of the game. There's a lot of different choices for unique character builds and team synergy (something completely lacking in L4D mind you) and the economy is pretty fun to try and manage.

Gunplay is pretty great and while some early levels are a bit weak, the mid to late stages of the game are kinda fantastic and offer some of the most fun and intense horde gameplay I've ever experienced. That being said, balancing was a bit of an issue as the difference between normal and veteran is pretty drastic, but the more you level up your cards and learn the strategies for each map, the easier it becomes. It's hard, but I'd prefer a challenge that makes you actually work with the right builds and team-comp as opposed to just mindlessly mashing zombies with no sort of abilities or characters builds.

IDK. I was thoroughly impressed with the level of depth in the game and I really wish people played it for more than 2 seconds before calling it trash.

The video game equivalent of seeing your high school crush becoming a burntout drug addict after not seeing her for over a decade.

ive only played the beta so i can't really say much on the complete game, maybe its actually really good
in no fucking world is this game worth 60 dollars + dlc, especially when the superior left 4 deads are a sixth of a price
for what is supposed to be a retro revival made by the classic l4d dev team, it misses all the little details that made those games so great
this game is feature bloated to the max, making every little step you take into this dull and drab universe needlessly confusing
asking 60 dollars for this game is a borderline scam
