I tried so hard with this game but in the end it just pisses me off more than anything. Huniepop 1 was a cute game and was over before I had a chance to get bored of the gameplay, so I was looking forward to this game!

Man oh man...The gameplay in this feels so RNG based at times that it feels like I'm just hitting a slot machine! Huniepop 1 was like this at times but never so offensively, it feels like you're always getting fucked over in some way by this game. It's not horrible or anything but it's super mediocre. Baggage, while cute in concept, can be really fucking annoying more often than not, and hinders my experience rather than helps it. This is Huniepop man I'm not here to tryhard I'm here to chill out, match 3, and see some boobs.

The characters though...I hate like 90% of the cast, most of them are really fucking annoying or weird and are just insufferable to talk to. One thing I do like is the double date system allows for some interactions between characters, which Huniepop 1 had very few of, so that was kinda cute I guess. But when the characters are THIS annoying I don't really care to see them interact at all! Shoutout to Lailani for being the only new character I actually liked, she's super cute.

Not even the porn is good. The artstyle is way worse than the first game.

So I'm sitting here 70% of the way done with the game and it hits me, I hate the gameplay, I hate the characters, I even hate the porn, why am I playing this?

And so, I'm not.

huniepop OG is an actually good puzzle game, this one is not. even outside of the main, real part of the game (the puzzles), the characters you're forced to interact with to get to the puzzles are way more annoying than the first game. and the dev got like, super political with this one which just means that when you're not playing the actual game (the puzzles) you're just dealing with a bunch of transphobic and islamophobic "jokes", and one of the characters is underage (or like, they joke that she's underage but i mean, come on now), which i just hate. worst crime being that the puzzles are bad

I honestly really like the first game, I think it's one of the few porn games that are actually interesting and I genuinely like most of the girls.
Unfortunately the charm is gone for me. The vast majority of the new girls are not really well-written, or not interesting, or their gimmick is just sad (Candace ...). The sex happens way faster than in the first game (I mean sure, it's a sex game) + you can only double date, so you feel less close to the girls. New artstyle is good imo, UI is nice although the shop is a little complicated to navigate through.
The big strength of the game is the gameplay, having way more depth in this sequel, specifically the "baggage" mechanic that actually ties together characters and gameplay !

Before I go on I am a Homosexual man so I'm probably not the demographic aimed for this game, so I have no biases whatsoever.

Being real for one sec I don't hate the first Huniepop,
I don't like any of the dating sim parts but I felt like the puzzle part was actually fun.
Huniepop 2 ruined both the dating part and the puzzle part, it turned a fun at times "sexy?" puzzle porn into a repetitive slugfest that was neither fun nor sexy.
I hate games that are really bad
but I really hate stuff that wastes my time.

So much of this game feels like padding for time because they didn't have that much content for a whole sequel.

There are 12 girls in the game, and you have to have sex with 1 of those girls about 4 times with another girl. Overall you have to have sex with 2 girls about 24 times to get to the final boss, but you also have to date 2 girls at least 1 time in order to get the sex
that means in total the number of dates you need to go on is 48, not counting for all the times you will fail since the new mechanics they added making the game way too fucking hard.

On one hand: better gameplay than the first game, an excuse plot so unapologetically stupid that it's hilarious, some great new additions to the cast, no Momo.
On the other hand: worse art style (imo), some weird pairings/dynamics, some not so great additions to the cast, you cannot bang Kyu.
On both hands: Porn. Lots of it. Pretty good too.

I bought this game on release day. I regret nothing.

If you ever wanted to know how it feels to go on a date with two women and become the ultimate third wheel, play HuniePop 2. You, the player, may as well not even be there, in what is the ultimate failing of the new double date system. The hell is the point of a game designed around self-inserting if the characters are more interested in fucking each other than the player?

I would say it's a little silly to feel disappointment over what is primarily a porn game, but that comes in large part due to how surprisingly GOOD the first HuniePop was. In its place here is just a far shallower attempt to recreate that magic, with less interesting characters and scenarios, along with the puzzle gameplay that, while still somewhat enjoyable, relies far more on levelling up stats to advance than actual strategy. Which, sadly, is about the only real grinding you'll feel like your character is participating in.
