I distinctly remember going to buy this at the local Walmart in 2009 along with a copy of Sonic Unleashed on the ps2. The woman at checkout scanned the ps2 game and even offered a warranty on the disk.
Unfortunately, she forgot to scan Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.
It was just OK even for a free game. Not fun enough to potentially lose a job over.
The figure skating portion was pretty fun though.

In certain situations, it seems like DS developers try a bit harder than their console counterparts. In this situation, I'm not sure whether it was to accommodate for the inferior hardware or simply to make the game stand out in order to justify buying it a second time. Whatever the case may be, they definitely did well to add quite a bit of content via story mode and minigames. Not the worst title in the series by a long-shot.
I got this from a family member off-hand or something? I vaguely remember how I got it, I just know that I spent a day home from school playing this for an extended period of time. Was a good time too and it having a story mode that got the two franchises' characters to interact was cool even though I barely progressed through it.

it’s realistically not anything special, but it’s the exact kind of lame b grade adventure mode that i really like! some really fun mini games with a dumb silly story that had some neat little mini games and puzzies!

Sports games on DS are cursed. Like why would you do this?
Honestly I did not expect much, but its a really fun game. The events and dream events are fun, and I did not expect there to be a story mode with a whole overworld to run around in. Honestly a really good time.
This is for the story mode of the Nintendo DS version. I'm gonna keep this one short, I had a ton of fun with this one. The story mode is a hub world like an old school RPG and you get challenges from other characters where you play the Olympic mini games. You collect characters that join your team and use their abilities to access more areas. The presentation is extremely charming and the writing is nice and I loved every second of it. Near the end some of the puzzles did get kind of annoying but other than that I loved this.

Mario and Sonic go to Canada to take on the world's second most corrupt sports organization, the International Olympic Committee! The DS versions of the Olympic minigames are mostly worse than the Wii ones, but this game surprisingly has a decent story mode, and the dream events like Snowboarding and Bobsled are a blast!
This game has nothing going for it, except for one thing... Its story mode... Idk what is it about the story mode in this game, but it was so nice to play every mission available, progress through every world, unlock new characters, it even spreads winter olympics facts here and there. A magic game.

The game that brought to my attention a huge number of sports I hadn't heard of and as a result ended up feeling quite fresh compared to its counterpart. The standard of the main campaign is pretty much the same here, and that's ok.

I am being completely and totally unironic when I say this is one of my favorite games ever made. I play this game almost every summer (because I like winter more lol) and still have fun with it. Still have my original copy from when I was a kid too. Charming little minigame collection with an actually fire story mode. Also, the music is really good for no reason. I love this game so much that no other game in the series has ever lived up to this one. I refuse to play the Wii version of this game because I know it'll never be as good as the DS version.
