It seems like some franchises are not meant to cross over with anybody. Mortal Kombat is one of those franchises. For example, that Street Fighter x Mortal Kombat crossover that never was. Why didn't it happen? Because nobody wants to see Chun-Li being sliced in half by Kung Lao. Applying it to this game, nobody wants to see Wonder Woman having her spine pulled out in a bloody mess.
So if we can't have the DC characters being mutilated in a Day of the Dead-level bloodbath, then tone down the gameplay and fatalities until there's barely any violence. But, it's still a Mortal Kombat game, and what is MK without the violence and blood? Plus, there's nothing in this game that hasn't been done better in previous MK games.
Never mind the fact that it's DC, it could have been anybody else and it wouldn't make a difference. I love my crossovers fun and wacky (Capcom vs. SNK, Marvel vs. Capcom, etc.), but this doesn't feel like it's even trying.

A game that is decent is most regards but is extremely hated by some. Most complaints are that there's no blood and gore and that makes me believe that all people want are fatalities. Which at that point you arent even criticizing anything meaningful about the game besides a finishing move that you will do a couple of times before you end up skipping them because you want to get back to fighting quicker. This game is decent and plays similarly to armagedon but is more balanced.
Why it failed. No gore, slim roster, 3D instead of 2D, horrendous finishers.
What worked. The premise, and story mode.
Although impossible, an M rating would drastically improve this and allow for more creativity in the movesets and fatalities. A roster the size of Injustice, 16/16. More costume options and the 2D fighting scale would have made this a very special MK entry.

Streamed it for some friends expecting to laugh at it for being terrible, and that's exactly what happened. The story mode was just really bad and dumb.
The game feels like crap to play. I will admit i'm not really an MK player but i don't remember MKX or the old games feeling this... wrong.
Rage has to be one of the worst mechanics i've ever seen in a fighting game.
I don't know how it was in the competitive scene (if this game even had one in the first place) but for i could tell by playing the story mode it basically forces the other player to run away until the rage turns off because of the super armor and unblockable attacks, the only counterplay seems to be activating your own rage or running away. It's annoying and it sucks, it also builds up really easily even if we use combo breakers.
