Nintendo is like Tarantino but instead of feet its just some big ass foreheads.

This one was a lot more interesting and I really like Dynamax Adventures, will definitely be coming back to this for more legendaries

I actually didnt enjoy this as much as the first expansion. I think the biggest issue I have with this (and even expansion 1 to an extent) is that there is like no battling at all. I wish these were somehting a little more akin to the Delta Episode in ORAS, where they are largely story focused, but brought you through some end game battles. The Crown Tundra more so feels like its just an excuse to reintroduce a TON of Pokemon that werent in the Galar Dex, while also introducing cool varients for the birds and gollems. But after a while, theres just nothing to break up the wash rinse and repeat nature of catching everything in sight. (I also dont like the dynamax raids at all, so I didnt mess with that). Its a cool idea, but feels like it was even moreso a precursor to Legends Arceus. (Also, Galarian Zapdos is very cool.)

At this point, the Gen 8 games are what they are. Crown Tundra is a somewhat fun piece of DLC that adds a few cool new Pokemon and brings all the legendaries back through a sort-of RNG-based minigame system, but that's kind of it. The area is smaller than the Isle of Armor, and in general just felt less cohesive and tied together. The Galarian birds are pretty neat though.

Definitivamente melhor que The Isle of Armor mas ainda é bem ok, a DLC é basicamente uma caça aos lendários que é bem divertida e o design dos novos lendários é bem bonito, principalmente o Moltres que foi o que eu mais gostei.

Score: 79/100

Good DLC, with a better story than expected, but those damn birds just wouldn't stay in the balls.

I couldnt complete all the crown tundra had to offer bc by the time i got to it i was sick of SwSh. I got some fun out of this and see more on the horizon perhaps someday, the best experience in SwSh nonetheless

To be fair to the DLC, by the time I'd finished the main story, I was 'done' with the game and a bit tired of the mechanics. It was fun enough, but just more grindy content.

It's a pretty good lore-focused story and the Crown Tundra itself is decent to roam around.

It doesn't seem as focused on QoL upgrades as the Isle of Armor (things like resetting EVs or Dynamax soup). Instead they added an entire new game mode, which is basically boss rush of raid battles. It's pretty neat, and a great way to get any legendary in any Pokéball of your choice.

It also has more new Pokémon than Isle of Armor. Though I really really wish they put more non-legendaries than just Galarian Slowking.

It definitely brings to light how much of a pain in the ass catching legendaries really is though when you need to do it 10 times in a row.

The Max raids are annoying especially when it comes to the ultra beasts, took a lot of shots to find Necrozy. Star Tournament is a nice addition.

Some pretty good stuff, really like the rogue-like raids but it turns out that having to sit through 4 max raids in a row to get one pokemon is hell.

I put off playing the DLC forever, and came back to knock them out real quick before the release of Scarlet/Violet. I was kind of disappointed by the Crown Tundra, which I know was the one I was more looking forward to when the DLC was first shown off. I always liked the postgame legendary hunting in games like B2W2, and I was hungry to collect more at the end of the base game, but I expected that to be on top of a solid DLC like Isle of Armor. Instead, nearly the whole focus was just on the legendary collection, which tries to justify itself with the 2 new Regis and the new forms for the birds. But I found these quests pretty barebones for what they were, and the rest of the legendaries being stuck in Max Raid hell didn't help. Those raids were already very slow and tiring in the base game, so stringing 4 of them in a row does not help there (especially when you can only keep 1 per run). The "main story" here (Calyrex quest) was also far less engaging and endearing than Isle of Armor's, and I just didn't care much for it or the characters like I did for IoA. The actual new areas mostly being ice areas didn't help, as that's just not really my favorite. Again, the new old mons were nice though, including some favorites for me this time. Overall, definitely the weaker DLC and a bit of a letdown.

Incredible bonus to the story

Dynamax adventures goes hard

Never officially finished it since i wanted to Shiny Hunt the Regis, but said fuck it, and caught them all today.

DLC muito legal, uma adição maravilhosa ! Areás novas, pokemon novos, história legal. Tudo maravilhoso.

I wasn't a big fan of The Isle of Armor, so I went in to The Crown Tundra with zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised! Hopefully Gamefreak decided to expand on some of these design choices in whatever they make next, because I genuinely enjoyed the more open ended approach they took here.

I wanna go to Gamefreak, slap them across the face and ask them why they thought that bringing every legendary back while still omitting others Pokemon because of Dexit thus completely shattering the meta game was a good idea. This basically took a game I was playing for quite some time and turned me away from picking up the franchise ever again, I am dead serious.

I'll defend Pokémon Sword, and don't think there's much wrong with this DLC either, but it feels like it's too much of a good thing. Been playing for a while now, Isle of Armor still looked fantastic, and parts of the Crown Tundra did too, but there are annoying characters, a really lame story, and in the end just not very much that would make this worth playing besides the fact that you can catch A LOT of legendary Pokémon in this one. I only finished the main story, caught Calyrex, Spectrier, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos, but I couldn't be arsed to catch the Ultra Beasts or Swords of Justice. Maybe another time, this was more than enough Pokémon Sword for now. A great game, an average DLC.

whoever designed calyrex deserves a raise

(Review from Nov 2022) Better expansion, with a more compelling set of Pokémon to chase after. Bigger downside for me was the map, which was more interesting than in Isle of Armor but was also impossible to navigate

I actually did enjoy Isle of Armor quite a bit, but I do understand why people found it a bit underwhelming at times. That said, Crown Tundra is an improvement in pretty much every way. The charming character writing that has been one of the game's strengths continues to be great, even if I wish there had been more of a proper arc for Peony and Nia. Like, come on, you have these two going through the plot of A Goofy Movie and you don't even get a real resolution! When do they go to see Powerline!

Though, one character I didn't even expect to BE a character got a really good arc. Seriously, I didn't expect to like Calyrex based on their frankly kind of silly design, but the game made me love them. The Galarian Star Tournament also brings in a bunch of fun interactions between the cast, which makes me smile.

The gameplay front is where the most significant improvements are. The Isle of Armor was considerably more fun to explore than the original Wild Area, and the Crown Tundra improves even upon that, with tons of nooks and crannies to explore. It was also pretty fun seeing the exploration aspect actively being implemented into some of the Legendary searches, too. Hunting down the birds in various ways had a real sense of adventure to it, and it was also fun to see little riddles for the Regis again. I think the game could have benefited from a more detailed mini-map that gets filled out as you explore, though, as the ingame map was basically useless in trying to orient yourself. That's the one real gameplay complaint I have, though.

Speaking of Legendaries, Max Raid Adventures were way more fun than I was expecting them to be. Granted, they're probably more fun with friends than randos or, god forbid, NPCs, but as a co-op experience to enjoy with friends they've been a blast. It's also pretty fun showing off your Legendary catches to Peony after your adventures and seeing his color commentary.

All in all, I'd say the Crown Tundra alone is worth the price of admission, and the Isle of Armor is a fun bonus. Hopefully we get good stuff like this in the series future instead of third versions that are mostly the same full price game you already played but with occasional writing alterations and something actually resembling a postgame...!

The best part of SwSh cause this plot line was better than the main story by far cause it has actual lore and world building and a decent story. the Map is really cool with all the legendary interactions but Max Liar isn't a fun a to catch legendries like Ultra Wormhole especially since it ruins Necrozma and Ultra Beasts by trying to act like they would be important to it which got my hopes up when I didn't see a single Ultra Wormhole.

Calyrex was the best character in the entire Galar playthrough :/

infinitely better than anything the main game and the first dlc has to offer

Was expecting this to be better than the last dlc but it was worse :( The story was just “go to this place” and “do this thing” with excessive cutscenes. At least I finally get Uxie I guess.

While it’s not as bad as I originally let it on to be and I do like some of the additions added, I still believe Crown Tundra is bad and unlike Isle of Armor I don’t think most of those ideas were executed well. The return of a lot of older Pokemon, especially the pseudo legendaries and minor legendaries, are appreciated but the return of every major legendary was just overkill for me. Also, the Crown Tundra itself has a messy layout and suffers from the same problems that the open world usually has and Dynamax Adventures are a neat idea but turn out to be a fucking mess. I like Sword and Shield, but holy fuck they are far from great.

The Crown Tundra is the second half of SW/SH's DLC, and offers a more legendary focused experience than Isle of Armor. Peony and Calyrex are great new characters you meet in the main legendary storyline, making up for the fact this DLC is much less NPC focused. While you'll be talking to Peony and even Sonia as you hunt down legendaries, they'll only really have a few comments to make. Instead of that, the DLC is much more focused on Pokemon itself - in the snowy wild area, there's 100+ new (to the game) Pokemon to discover, with the main attraction being the legendaries. The Galarian forms of the legendary birds must be hunted down after you startle them during a scuffle at the mysterious giant tree, the Regis are locked behind temples with each one having a puzzle you must do before they open for you, the Three Musketeers require you to track down their footprints so Sonia can narrow down their location (with Keldeo having a little puzzle required to catch him), Calyrex and his steed are obtained through the main storyline, and the remaining legendaries are obtained via the new Legendary Dens - pick up a rental Pokemon and traverse several raid battles in a row, swapping out for other Pokemon you catch until you finally confront the den's legendary. Thanks to that, this DLC has the potential to add a decent chunk of time to your playtime.
The new content isn't just limited to the Crown Tundra - once you've completed all the story content of CT, IoA, and the base game, you'll now get the Galarian Star Tournament. 17 different partners to choose from (most unlocked via wins in the mode) as you engage in a multi battle tournament, made for those who prefer to engage in battles rather than do raids or explore a new wild area.
Overall, Crown Tundra is an incredibly solid DLC to round out SW/SH, fleshing out an already solid game with extra content.

really conflicted on how i feel about this expansion. i feel like the only true enjoyment i've gotten out of it has been doing dynamax adventures to shiny hunt for legendaries, and yeah thats pretty cool, but apart from the dynamax adventures feature it's still pretty barebones. I think the tundra itself is still extremely rough looking and pretty boring, and the only area i thought truly built off of the wild area was the small ocean coast and the near the top of the cave system, but even that was somewhat ruined by the cave's uninteresting textures and the fact there's nothing really to do at the top of the mountain other than catch calyrex at the end of the story. story wise, i thought peony and nia were cute but they don't do much and they hardly interact together which sucks. lastly i think the new pokemon are just fine, with the exception of calyrex who sticks out as one of the worst designed pokemon of gen 8. overall i don't see the swsh dlc as a huge improvement of the base game, only a small glimpse at what features like raid battles and the wild should've been in the base game, and even then it's hard for me to not compare swsh to countless better rpgs.
