So I understand how this game wasn't a "true" sly game and it isn't. Sly 4 tried very hard to fit into the trilogy, the humor and voice acting was horrible, i did not like the jobs as they were tedious and very annoying, and even though the whole concept of Sly's ancestors was pretty cool, it wasn't executed right. It's not a bad game overall, maybe im just spoiled by the trilogy but it was a chore tryna to complete. Took me so long to finish, and i did not like the last chapter. The characters did not control the way the trilogy did and it was tough trying to navigate through the jobs.
72% of bottles, collected for first 2 episodes and got bored, the map layouts were horrible.
Took me like 6 hours prolly
ehh i prolly gon appreciate this game later on...
but i did like the belly dancing
note:
aiight i prolly was annoyed by how the last chapter and epilogue played because that was absolutely terrible. The first half of this game was decent, started off as a sly game and out of nowhere the difficulty got stupid. Bentley's damn motion control hacking game was my worst nightmare. The stupid elephant trumpet villian, i died a lot when i had to have her ram into the pillar thing, would miss the entire pillar and hit me and i die. game idea is a cool concept, i get the hype but the execution was painful to play. sorry not sorry.

Been off/on playing this recently and while there are some nice elements, it ultimately feels too much like an attempt at returning to form, rather than building on the previous games strengths and taking the franchise further. More of the same, but not quite as good, and therefore just not that engrossing. Having said that, I admire what Sanzaru games have managed to do - it's pretty rare for a different developer to pick up a game and get it feeling this close to home. So hats off to them.
Loving the unique abilities that come with Sly's different ancestors, not so keen on the graphics. I don't know if it's just me, but there seems to be this extremely smudgy, brash colouring both to this and Sly 3 that just looks ugly to me. Too dark in places, too bright in others. I feel like I tweak my TV settings endlessly to get the game looking half decent while playing.
I'm sure I'll complete it at some stage, but it's just not that much of a draw for me currently.

Bad stuff: Story and writing don't hold a candle to sucker punch's games especially the terrible ending, the loading times are pretty damn bad and personal gripe the character redesigns aren't that good.
Not bad stuff: visually it's great, controls and game feel are just as satisfying and free flowing as ever and it's still super fun to play, also tennessee cooper's a pretty cool dude.

The more time goes on the more I hate this game. The writing and story is so bad, boring and derivative. The sceneries look really really nice but the clunky controls and the insanely long loadtimes renders this game almost unplayable. Sanzaru games and the people who work there are unserious and don't take pride in their work, as a result we have this game.
A shame. A fine shame. Thieves in Time is a bland imitation of the second and third Sly Cooper games. Despite how complete the original trilogy felt, I was still so happy to see a fourth Sly game released - unfortunately I never finished it. My excitement never peaked very high while playing and by about halfway though I'd lost interest and given up.
Sly 4.....oh boy.
I could make a 2 hour video essay about my feelings concerning this game but I'll summarize.
Awful plot, but I enjoy the Sly gameplay formula so much that I found joy. I absolutely understand why this game is hated by many, but honestly if I put on my Sly Cooper fanboy goggles and turn my brain off, it's fun to see the Cooper gang back in action (despite the fact that their character arcs were completed in Sly 3 and this game thusly feels like a bad fanfic). The definition of a guilty pleasure.
