literally so mid except for raid

still does not stand up to the part time job sort of playstyle bungie can sometimes ask of the player, but the environments and art style in this are still some of the most extravagant in any sort of modern visual medium.

due to sunsetting, you now have to play the mind numbingly tedious DLC drops in order to have the gear to be ready for day 1 raids. i no longer have the time and patience for engaging with the parts of the game i don't enjoy, so deep stone crypt was probably my last day 1 raid. while experiencing this previously entirely unknown activity with 5 other players is one of the greatest gaming experiences you could ever have, its questionable if its worth all of the work throughout the year to make sure you are ready for it.

Deep Stone Crypt is fucking amazing

didnt enjoy it much, i guess i came in too late to get into it

This might be the most embarrassing game i've ever purchased

It was ok at best. Very mediocure story which is suprising by bungie and a failed attempt at getting rid of old weapons done before this expansion. It was rough for the player base and honestly the only thing of value that the expansion truly gave to the community were the new subclasses and the exotics that came with the expansion (we forget one stasis exotic just becuase it was shit :) ). This was a rough patch for Destiny and Im glad we moved on from it.

Man we deleted 60% of the game for this?

Beyond Light was...okay, but the loss of a fuckton of content made the experience really sour. Beginning of the end to the Light v Darkness , does a meh job at setting up future events

this expansion paired with season of the hunt stopped me playing destiny for months and potentially would have stopped me forever if season of the chosen and the subsequent seasons didn't fuck as hard as they did

I have two stories to tell about Destiny 2. This one happened second.

When the Prophecy dungeon released, I talked myself into miserably grinding up to the level to enter the dungeon. "Surely I will have a great time with these combat encounters. They're very good at those." All four of my drops in my first run were boots. None of them were upgrades. Three of them were visually identical. I uninstalled the game that evening and will never return.

This wasn't bad but I had really high expectations and it didn't deliver

Eris, the Exo Stranger, and the Drifter on a fireteam together made me cum my lorts (lort jorts (jean shorts))

The campaign is somewhere between Forsaken and Shadowkeep in terms of quality, but the new environments and subclasses are neat. Also heard the raid is great, but I haven't been able to give that a go yet.

What could have been a pretty solid expansion, plagued by terrible choices by the developer.

Europa is a unique and pretty map, the endgame progression is decent, and the raid is very enjoyable if a bit on the easy side.

On the other hand, the new Stasis subclasses are overwhelmingly strong compared to the old ones, especially in PvP, to an extent that calling Stasis pay-to-win isn't too much of an exaggeration.

Furthermore, the patch that brought BL also brought a "sunsetting" of most gear in the game, preventing their level from being raised to the point where they can be used in BL content or any endgame activities. All items in the game that have yet to be sunset now have an "expiration date" of roughly one year after they were introduced, after which the item can't be leveled up past whatever the level cap is at that time, requiring players to keep playing not only to get new gear, but to find replacements for their gear as it sunsets.

I fell back into Destiny 2 pretty hard. Though there are times that I hate the choices that Bungie makes, I love so much about what they put together as a studio. Beyond Light shows off what they do best. The new Statis Powers are an absolute revelation, and make so much of the story missions and PvE events so fun to play. Those story missions are interesting, though I don’t think they quite reach the eldritch highs of Shadowkeep. The new Exotics and the quests are lengthy, but not disrespectful of your time. The environment of Europa is suitability and predictably breathtaking, especially on the new consoles.

A significant step in the right direction from Shadowkeep. Beyond Light does not quite offer the magic that Forsaken did but is getting there. Backed by a fantastic soundtrack, Beyond Light began the on-going storytelling of D2 Year 4 that has improved the narrative of the game so much. The Stranger and Clovis Bray are two very welcome additions to the cast, and add some of the most intriguing lore to date. While Stasis had a rough start, the addition of an entirely new element with a much better system of customization has been an overall success and added an important level of depth to the game. Beyond Light's exotics were great, although the quantity could still have been better. Europa is a great location as well, with secrets and lots of unique and interesting locations. Beyond Light kickstarted a great year of Destiny, and is not at all the best expansion in Destiny history but is a promising step as we await Witch Queen.

despite the content vault and sunsetting, the content here is fantastic with one of the best planets introduced in the series ever, and with fantastic music to boot

Stasis? Great. PvP with stasis? Awful. DSC? Great. All the other content? Awful. New weapons? Alright. Old weapons? Massacred. All in all? A headache.

Standard destiny 2 PvE gameplay with a story that was occasionally interesting, though nothing here was truly amazing.

Decent fun but it just feels like typical Destiny 2. The new subclass is very cool, though.

An okay expansion storywise, but introduced a whole new subclass to the game, and dramatically changed the face of buildcrafting.

Formulaic. Nothing we've not seen a hundred times before from these guys.

Stasis was a unique addition to D2 and the story was just alright, the content and post launch additions surrounding this expac were pretty solid though.

It’s peak. This expansion locked me in for Destinys future and I’m still here enjoying it

I’m a sucker for snowy maps ⛄️
