Emulated it. I wanted to try out more of the Fate series videogames, and this seemed interesting. I find the whole Moon Cell storyline quite intriguing, so I was curious. Yeah, its alright. I've played worse games. The combat is mostly chance based, every turn there is a series of 6 rock paper scissors games. Depending on the result, you deal or receive damage. By the end of the game there is a bit of strategy involved, and the fights against other Servants and Masters at the end of each ingame week are quite compelling, but to be honest if you don't use a guide and refuse to memorize all of the enemy patterns (which there aren't a lot, to be fair) you just have to hope to god you don't die. Despite this game's short length of about 20 hours or so, I was kind of dreading having to fight anything but the Servants I mentioned. It got very repetitive and uninteresting, to the point I just used the fast forward option on the emulator to remove at least some of the tedium. Said tedium is not helped by the boring fucking music that repeats a lot or the bland graphics. All of the dungeons are just corridors with different colored ceiling and walls, and the school where you spend all your time not fighting is just that, a boring looking school with not much to see due to its small size. Still, if you like Fate, you are bound to find at least something enjoyable here, like I did. The story is cool, I liked the main character's arc, and I really enjoyed the extra perspective this game gives on Archer, from Stay Night. I always found him pretty interesting, so getting to see more of him was great. You can choose two other servants if you don't want a cynical asshole like him though, and I like them as well.

''I’m usually pretty amnesiac and therefore only review games that I’ve played in the past few months for accuracy purposes. It has actually been more than a few months since I last played Fate/Extra, but I get a warm nostalgic feeling whenever I look back on the game. Most of that has to do with the memorable characters, and the close relationship you ended up forming with your Servant. This is nothing uncommon for Visual Novel games, but I feel it was particularly executed well here as creating that relationship is also one of the major driving forces behind the story; gain their trust, and become stronger together. I am personally mixed on the combat however, which is the part of the game I don’t necessarily have warm nostalgic feelings for. The idea of learning your enemies combat behaviour through (optional) dialogue and recurring battles is brilliant, but it makes early battles very RNG-heavy and can often result in a game over. There are also a few too many pointless spaces in the school that I visited every day for completion, but most of the time it was just a time-waster. That aside, I did really enjoy Fate/Extra and therefore it truly deserves the 8.5 out of 10!''

This would be one of my favourite games weren't the gameplay so boring, seriously, the school parts are passable, but the dungeons? Jesus, not only they are bland, it takes FOREVER to level up, and the battle system is stupid, unfair and unforgiving, I have to say that boss fights are enjoyable because they make you think very carefully on what you have to do, but all it takes is 3 attacks (in a row) from the enemy to get killed, it's just not a good combat system man
Meanwhile the story is pretty good, I loved Hakuno and their (you choose their gender) progress from someone lost and without purpose to a strong willed person...weird phrasing I know, the setting's cool too, like how spells are basically programming methods, "heal(8);" the Servants aren't too relevant because the focus is on Hakuno, but I still loved playing with all 3, Nero ended up being one of my favourite characters from this franchise
When will the CCC english patch come out...

SABER MY EMPEROR caster's great too BUT SABER KYAA
Hakuno's development from no one to someone (idk the right words for it) is amazing and by far my favourite part of the game.
Settings cool I LOVE THE MOON, ost is good and i liked the gameplay, it wasn't full random cause there's set patterns but it is a lot of trial and error dungeons were ass though.
