Esse jogo é tão perfeito que chega dói. Eu amo o desenvolvimento do arco do Dom, os novos personagens introduzidos, os mapas mais abertos e tudo mais, é simplesmente uma sequência perfeita, aumenta pra krl o escopo em relação ao primeiro jogo, fooooooooooooooda.
Despite not being as diverse and complex gameplay-wise like the following installments, this game hold a special place in my heart and still is my favorite Gears game.

This game is insanely good. Period. It is amazing how they make you care about the story and boring, military guys who seem tougher than nails, and giving them emotional scenes is fantastic. I wish more games could do this properly. Along with that the gameplay feels a little bit better, as they didn't need to improve upon much. My biggest issue is the fact that, well, there are WAY too many 'holdout' autoscroller sections. One would've been fine. Same with the turret section. But otherwise this game is a masterpiece.

Getting back with these characters and seeing the seeds of character development if really fun. Finding Maria in 2023 is just as hard hitting as in 2008.

Correr, correr, matar monstros, explodir coisas e é isso até o final. Divertidinho, mas nada demais.

Horde mode! I played Horde for days and nights. The Campaign made me cry for the first time playing a game.
Unfortunately, I could not enjoy the multiplayer (not the games fault). Campaign was fun, but not as good as the first. Ending seemed a bit off.
Gears of War 2 certainly shows its age playing it all these years later. My first experience with the series was the Ultimate Edition of the original GOW so taking this step backwards was certainly sobering. Despite the rough edges the games still plays very well all these years later. The loop of getting into cover, taking your shot and then 'instant' reload is consistently enjoyable. I was pretty impressed with the number of large scale set pieces in this game, from riding on multiple Locust beasts to an entire city collapsing around you as you continue to fight. The additions to Dom's character are also fairly compelling, especially from a 2008 perspective. However I think this game certainly suffers from playing it after many other superior cover-based shooters in the years since. Even a game like Uncharted 2, which came out within a year or so of GOW2 completely outclasses it in terms of set pieces, story and general presentation. GOW2 is a fun romp, with still surprisingly crunchy and satisfying combat. It's a step up from the original in terms of story and gameplay but GOW2 has been far surpassed by similar shooters since it's release. It's a good time capsule of what shooters were like at the time and certainly was a major step forward in their evolution , but in retrospect this was only the first tentative step of many still to come.

El mejor de la franquicia, bajo mi punto de vista. Supo mejorar aún más la fórmula que ya planteó el anterior y darnos una historia sublime.
