Completed with 100% of achievements unlocked. Bad End Theater is a short, enjoyable puzzle-based visual novel, where the player takes control of one of four characters who then play through a short sequence based around a fantasy hero/demon conflict. Gameplay takes the form of several text-based choices, which ultimately lead to one of the titular bad end(ing)s. The novel twist comes from the four characters each taking part in a given run, and once you've experienced a given choice as one character, you can set then behaviour that they follow before starting a run with a different character - and thereby experience a different path through the decision tree of outcomes. It's a neat mechanic that works well, especially as you gradually find different paths and then different decision points. Despite the inevitably bleak outcomes, it all plays out with a sense of fun - and maybe there's a 'true ending' in there somewhere? The lack of long-term depth limits the game's overall potential, but it's fun while it lasts.

Very cute, and the ending is very sweet. I love the art style and the character designs add to the adorable aesthetic very well.

Ultimately it is very short, and there isn't a lot of depth, but it's a pleasant time if you're wanting something to keep you entertained for a few hours.

Goddamn. This was fantastic. Loved it.

Solid Game but definitely didn't make me feel emotional towards the characters.

Really short and fun visual novel, also Yuri

Kinda lives up to the title but also doesn't.

Very sweet story, well written, beautiful art and the i guess final ending was very very strong and made me tear up. A quick game but i highly recommend it!!

i hate to say it but it really is just too short and underbaked for the asking price. i got it on sale for $7.50 and 100% the game in 90 minutes. it’s a cute idea but could’ve gone a lot further and the true ending is kinda weird and ill fitting

A "Pick your own adventure" kind of Visual Novel, each branch the game offers has a duration of around 2 minutes, so it's a short game that doesn't burn you out for trying all the possible outcomes, which are a requirement to watch the True Ending and put the end to the whole story, because of that fact and the length of the game, I totally recommend going for the 100% to everyone who gives this game a try.

An interesting take on visual novels' bad endings, it's short and sweet.

A light and very simple puzzle element lets you program the characters' behaviours to reach and collect the different endings.

Lesbians are so awesome

this is what happens when ur mean to lesbians

OMG VOUS SPOILEZ RIEN ET JOUEZ Y
les frisson finaux vallent le coups

Very cute short game. It’s like a choose your own adventure, but with multiple characters. It seems like the typical hero rescues the maiden from the demon’s tower, but the characters have more than what meets the eye. I enjoyed the completionist aspect of getting all the different actions and endings. One of the coolest part is the color change with the true ending along with the final boss.

Very Gay, Love Them <3

JUST KISS ALREADY.

Endings get kinda stale once you've seen them from 1 perspective already and have to repeat it 3 more times. Narrative is handled pretty good anyway.

i didn't technically play it but i liked it a lot

I played it with the thought this would be a visual novel and it is, but when trying to get all the endings it becomes a very tragic puzzle game.
The end threw me for a loop twice, though glad the lesbians won in the end

In BAD END THEATER you get to choose from 4 different protagonists to play as; The Hero, The Maiden, The Underling and The Overlord. You go through the story to explore their traits and getting different endings for the characters.

The stories are all connected together and your choices as the characters affect how the story goes forward even when you change the character you play as. A series of bad, tragic ends that seem to be never ending, until finally tragedy will strike you and you will find the true end for yourself.

It's definitely a fantastic game that will suck you right in. The artstyle is lovely and the soundtrack is an absolute delight. The ending is also cute and wholesome. Highly recommended for everyone, even at full price.

This is gonna be hard to review for me, because I usually dont spoil anything in my reviews, and its a visual novel, but TLDR, despite the fact that I dont like at all visual novel, this one is shockingly incredible

Despite the really short lenght of this one, the game's story manage to be engaging and memorable, and even if, at first, the game seems REALLY simple, it really isnt

I REALLY love how the game evolve as the story progress, and when i mean the game, i dont just mean the story, i also mean the entirety of it, and the creator of this game herself

Again, no spoil, but that true ending is fucking worth the small price alone

You know what ? Fuck it, i give it 4 stars, because it just perfectly execute what it sets out to do, and please, dont let the game thinks that its simpler than it truly is : its beauty is hidden, and you will have to dig it throught to make it shine

Also, lesbanism...yeah, im just saying that in honor of one of my friend who recommended the game to me ;)

Puzzle game disguised as a visual novel, not a lot of replay value but definitely worth the playthrough. Great characters and art, makes me nostalgic for something that doesn't exist.

There's always a good ending!

pequeno, legal , bonito , interresante , engraçadinho , 10/10

the end really puts this whole game together.

Guide stereotypical but loveable RPG characters through different timelines to find them a happy ending.

A very short and fun little adventure, starring cute, loveable characters. The puzzle of trying to get a good ending was pretty interesting, and I really enjoyed trying to figure out just the right combination.
Honestly, this game feels like a REALLY good dream that you wake up from right at the conclusion. Just the perfect dream, with the perfect end, where you wake up with a single tear in your eye. Yeah. There's really no reason not to play this, there's hardly a price to speak of.

The experience is worth the money. Totally try this one.
