Her şeyin başlangıçı

My father continue playing this for many many years and so i

This game launched probably 1000 times on our high-school PCs as word.exe

Made millions of south americans and eastern europeans happy for decades, still played today. Runs on a toaster, active playerbase, hell, with bots you don't even need an internet connection. Give it a try if you haven't.

it introduced me to online gaming and some real homies that m still friends with my goat fr

Um clássico! Ir pra lanhouse e jogar CS1.6, meu tio que me introduziu a este mundo quando eu tinha apenas 3 anos e que com certeza me moldou.

Para Mi Uno De Los Mejores Juegos De Disparo Por En Que Todos Empiezan La Inconica Saga De Counter Por Aqui Donde Podemos Jugar Con Terrorista y Policias A Matanos A Disparos

If a zoomer tries to tell you this is their favourite one do not sleep with them, their hands will be kinda freakishly fast

I used to wake up at 5am with my friend just so we can play together for a couple of hours till we left for school, we defnitely didn't ditch to play it ocasionally

>> Contras
• Nenhum.

Nada mejor para jugar a las 3 am

I love listening to Argentinians screaming through a low quality voice chat, 10/10

Ultimate classic that still holds up today

Counter-Strike (1.6) is an all-time classic and one of the first games that I owned and played on my Steam account. I even bought it boxed and with that, started my journey on Steam.

Counter-Strike is a simple, yet so fun, game. You choose a team, in which your objectives vary. You can play as terrorists or Counter-terrorists. As terrorists, you keep and defend hostages, place bombs at specific sites and prevent the counter-terrorists from defusing them. As counter-terrorists, you try to save the hostages and defuse the bombs that terrorist have placed.

Meanwhile, you pump each other full of lead. I especially liked the VIP mode, in which one player is appointed as a target that will win the round if eliminated. The other players on your team need to defend you with their lives until the time is up to win. It is a unique and fun experience that was most fun at LAN parties.

When starting the round, you choose/buy your weapons. You can choose a variety of pistols, sub-machine guns, heavy assault rifles, sniper rifles and grenades. Some weapons work better for you than others, so half the fun is trying to figure out which weapon has the right feeling and handling for you. The weapons themselves however, are well balanced and I did not experience any unfair advantages with a specific weapon.

The Graphics in Counter-Strike are really nice for the time. They are well rendered and textured, and the frame rate is spot on. No tearing, no lag, it runs smooth as butter. The animations are stiff and when killed, you drop dead as a brick, but this the charm that the game has.

In terms of sound, this game nails it, especially for the time period. Guns sound aggressive and loud, and explosions can be felt through your headset. It is spot on and holds up great with today’s standards.

The controls are easy to learn and work fluent and responsive.

My only problem at the time with Counter-Strike was the limited time to choose your gear before the round starts. It is completely logical that players do not wait until everyone choose their shiny guns, but when first playing, I was still checking what weapon would be best for me, and before I knew it, I had forty holes in me. But, like with many other First Person Shooters, especially online, I just need to git gut.

I still cherish the memories of this game at the many LAN parties I attended to, the pure joy, tension and competitive game play that had this unique experience back then. The thrill when you finally blow someone up with a well lobbed grenade, the satisfaction when you finally sent a successful sniper bullet through someone’s skull, it was just amazing. Counter-Strike will always be one of my favorite online shooters today.

The upgraded Counter-Strike: Source introduces new graphics and an even smoother experience, however, Counter-Strike (1.6) will always remain an all-time gem that can be played any time. When I am feeling old, I just play this version over the Source remake or Global Offensive, just for good old times.

Definitely recommend this timeless relic.

A great game that gave me almost 2 thousand hours over 12 years. Because I never had a good computer, I ended up choosing to play Counter Strike 1.6 over Source or GO. I believe that for the time it was a game with average graphics, OK gameplay and very good competitiveness (so much so that the professional scene remained alive until mid-2012). Good mechanics, without many bugs, active community to this day, with many new maps and full servers. A game that I recommend for anyone who wants to satisfy their nostalgia.

I died once and I got called every slur that I know and that I didn't.

only hostage mode on that map 10/10

very good enjoyed surfing while listening bosnian racists

Another one of the many incredible things that came of the Half-Life source, a game that left such a huge mark in history that we still feel the impact in today gaming communities.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

using a monster energy can as an ashtray, in video game form.

CS 1.9 (post comp matchmaking, it was aight but not great in 2012-14) and 2 have been mass-scale neurological poison that eventually made me swear off of competitive multiplayer games entirely (for the better), and for a very long time they had sullied my feelings toward the entire cstrike lineage. genuinely forgot how much fun and surprisingly relaxing it is to get steamrolled on cs_office, cs_assault or any of the Fun Yards. had more fun in 2 hours of just fucking around one night for Counter-Strike's sake than i did in nearly 200 hours of barely making it to gold nova.

the addition of steam networking after the HL25th update makes getting a lil crew together for some counter-strike romps plain simple, romps with friends that don't involve ELO or enticing you to spend $5000 Real Life Money gambling on free fpsbanana downloads, a net positive for the spirit. no need to have people screaming at you because your slightly-off performance at a Computer-Aided-Toy might make some of their invisible numbers go down, no teammates or enemies shaming you for not becoming as much of a gambling addict as they might be. (as of writing actual dedicated servers are a bit spotty but it's incredibly simple to just get a few folks together for a few maps of fragging)

cs 1.6 gained the potential to become Electronic Sports by sheer accident, something it undoubtedly fulfilled as it matured. but it doesn't force itself to be one every single second the code is being executed, something that is expected now in just about every versus multiplayer video game, often through force rather than accident.

in 2023 the vibe of counter-strike 1.6 is less like that of its successors from the '10s and going into the '20s: it's not the little league coach yelling at you after slamming 5 natty lights during halftime for making their kid look bad, the kid that they forced into the Ball Game to vicariously live out their faded hopes of becoming a Sport's. cs 1.6 is the day turned to night spent at a revolving set of skate spots. the only people there that belittle you for your skill (be it a lack or abundance of) are probably assholes from the jump, but if the vibes are off, nobody's forcing you stay there other than yourself. sure some may be better than you at it, possibly even pushing you to improve either directly or indirectly but when all is said and done, it aint about elitism, as the spirit of counter-strike has unfortunately evolved to be. the competition in a 1.6 pub is good natured. if it sucks, you can hit the bricks without recourse, and go join another server.

but action quake 2 is still the better game. cl_righthand 0 is the proper way to play.

It's hard to give it a proper rating — easy 5/5 for historical impact, but most gamers have no want/use for OG Counter-Strike (especially with no AI opponents, making single-player play impossible). The community keeps the game alive, but exploring the full wealth of mods/maps necessitates leaving the Steam ecosystem and delving into Gamebanana and ModDB, and the like.

All I'll say is, wait for the "Valve Complete Pack" to go on sale for like $10 (less if you already have L4D/Orange Box games) if you'd like to add Counter-Strike and its associated games to your library.

Still playing for the community mod servers that died down with the future releases of cs games.
