props for trying but never make a fucking rhythm game ever again

The best Rythm game ever made. It's an Anime.

Seems like it's now (after a long while) finished story-wise.

It's crazy how well set-up it was. Starring a plethora of songs of different genres grouped around characters, (which you would never think they meet each other ever), chilling with the iM messages, and then the story slowly starts drip-feeding over the course of 6 months in-universe, and boy it gets going.
I think what really cements it is that they set up this universe in a way that welcomes everyone. A lot of backstory (most of it locked behind paid DLC but still), a lot of different points of view, and a justification for the entire Cytus system existing that keep the gears moving. The crossover characters never feel shoehorned either, at least up until Alice/Hans.

I spoke a lot about the story but the actual gameplay is great too, with the line of judgement that goes crazy at times. It has so many tiny visual details you never stop noticing them even after 200 hours of playing. Be ready to learn a big plethora of timings in your 550 song journey, because you'll need it on the higher difficulties.

To finish it up, let me tell you when I was enjoying this: on a daily conmute, when the sun had yet to come up and I was seated, with a good pair of wired headphones and the phone on my lap, experiencing the fever of playing a song for the first time on chaos difficulty and improvising on the spot. Then taking a short break to enjoy the results screen song, looking at the window, peeking the new story message that may have dropped, and repeating.

The only reason it's not 5 stars it's because it has some kinda minor english translation issues that I only noticed because I was reading a LOT of the story, and because Miku is gone from the game if you didn't pay for her.

an ambitious game with how it story telling set up but became problematic because of rayark and KIVA couldn't work together and made 3.0 rushed.

I cant really put my finger on it but cytus 1 was better and dlc packs are expensive

Actually genuinely really good. Levels are super fun, songs are AMAZING, and it is the only rhythm game that has ever made me cry but loses a lot of points for the stupid paid DLC system it has in place

Very fun rhythm game for someone like me who can't get super into rhythm games, and while the DLC prices are kinda outrageous the free base game is a complete experience.
I really enjoyed the setting of the game, and how the story was presented partially in the form of a faux twitter feed. The fake users were very true to life, toxic idol/streamer stans and all. That said the translation was definitely pretty iffy at points, and if you aren't playing the characters in a specific order you can potentially spoil yourself on some of the major story beats.

The Cytus games are some of my favorite mobile games, if not some of my favorite rhythm games in general. The simplicity of the "slap the shit out of your phone" gameplay combined with the game's aesthetics and presentation keep me coming back for more.
While I'd recommend starting with the first one, this is a great sequel. I'm not a fan at all of how the paid DLC works, but it also has a really substantial amount of free content to enjoy.

the first one will always be better to me but this one does have kizuna ai in it so

Musicas em minha opinião melhores do que seu antecessor, porém muitas DLCS, que tem um preço bem alto para os brasileiros.

Amazing music. Not sure if I'll go back to playing the game though...

[ipad] seriously one of if not the best rhythm game on mobile — brilliant tactile control scheme + story/gameplay integration above and beyond for the genre. tracklist is pretty good all around but i had a robo/neko/ivy/sagar bent. if rayark didn't have their fingers in all this AI business i'd still be playing it ~5yrs on

Eh...I wanted to like this game.

New note types, better difficulty rating scale, at least three charts per song, and a more coherent and engaging story...

But it's quite reliant on grinding levels by playing songs and DLC packs. I gave up when the game asked me to raise the Crystal Punk folder to level 25 with only 3 songs in that folder to start. There are DLC packs to add songs to that folder but I think it's poor form to force the player to either spend money or bore themselves with the same few songs over and over.

Scoring is still combo-based and while there are not one but two alternate scoring systems, the TP scoring system from the first game and a new "Master" mode, the former is de-emphasized (no "new TP best" notification, no regular/off Perfect breakdown outside of Mater) and the latter requires Capso to unlock which can be problematic if you still have Capso unlocks to get.

All of that, on top of company controversies that are beyond the scope of a video game review, well...this game will remain unfinished. I'd rather go back to Cytus 1.

All songpacks are included in the google play pass trial! Really love that the notes can be anywhere cuz the lane moves up and down, it feels good watching the screen fill up then popping all the bubbles. Like a cat toy for humans.

Wish it was possible to fully skip the story and for some accessibility options. Had to skip charts as quickly swiping left/right was required.

Avere tutto su sto gioco vuol dire sborsare parecchio.

Picking this up again. A lot has changed since I last tried.
Maybe I'll finally go for those ridiculous DLC, but we'll see if it grabs me longer than a few weeks first.

As a lifelong rhythm game and visual novel player, the almost equal blend of the two this game presents was a dream come true.

The rhythm game aspect is both gentle and challenging. You never have to play above Hard really, and can play Easy for 95% of the game while making good leveling progress. However, Chaos and higher difficulties are great fun for someone who gets enough experience to be good at it. NO STAMINA IS NECESSARY FOR PROGRESS, EVER, and you can play as long as you want or as little as you want without feeling limited or pressured by a stamina gauge!

The story of Cytus II is a very intricate but accessible cyberpunk setting, teasing you with fictional social media posts at the start and transitioning into in-depth logs of character activity. It uses its status as a game to toy with your perceptions, and exploits the interface to tell parts of it in ways a book or movie couldn't. It's largely female-character led and has instances of subtle and overt queerness. I cried more than once and Incyde still makes me do it again anytime I listen to it.

While it is a sequel, playing Cytus 1 isn’t necessary to understand the story, and 2 greatly improved the rhythm game aspect when it comes to eye strain. It also isn’t necessary to buy any additional characters to complete the story, but there are hours on end of worthwhile backstory to find in the characters that aren’t crossovers/cameos.

Just, if you want to buy any of the DLC, do it on sale. The nine character sale repeats often, so there is never a reason to drop $10 on Xenon no matter how hot you think the helmet is

Cytus II is an impressively scaled rhythm game and that's what makes it so disappointing.

With an incomprehensible story that was told over a highly predatory lite-live service model, excessive monetisation, worse gameplay fidelity and worse visuals, it's a game that should have been a slam dunk but drowns in its own bullshit.

I LOVE CYTUS II
(The DLC has absolutely ridiculous prices. If you have an android get play pass)

this game is both 2 and 5 at once, don't believe my actual rating - cytus 2 is incredible, please don't play it

Um ótimo jogo de ritmo igual o jogo anterior

Cytus II expands on the original concept of Cytus with a unique play mechanic and an intriguing storyline. Music choices are superb and the UI is very well put together.

Excellent rhythm game. It's sometimes hard to see the notes you need to hit when your thumbs are already on the screen, but the note charts are great and I really like the non-linear storytelling.
