Wilderness OST still plays in my head every now and then.

Melhor arpg. Zerei tanto isso e ainda tinha vontade de jogar.

blizzard ambience at the top of their game. this five stars goes for both the base game and LoD, though the sweeping changes that this expansion brought to the game (e.g. the inclusion of the assassin/druid, runes/runewords, and most important of all, the ability to play the game in 800x600) render the first 4 acts a vastly different experience.

New characters were fabulous! Especially the druid

Uma boa DLC que complementa muito bem o jogo original.

This review is a continuation of the review given to Diablo 2. The details about this replay session are given in more detail. But to summarize; This playthrough was made in multiplayer mode where I played as the amazon class and the friend played as a necromancer.

Back to deal with some unfinished business as this game brings a single new act to the narrative. As before, the story didn't feel very important to the experience and served more as a backdrop than anything. Get out into the fray, slay more minions, and focus on improving your character for the last fight in the end.

As stated, this expansion only gives one more act to the game and therefore is much shorter than the base game. We managed to get through it in about 4 and a half hours. To be fair, it did feel like this act was the longest of all the five acts that the expanded game offered, but it still felt a little lacking.

This of course was because we played the original game with the expansion already installed, something that almost new players will do. The new act is only half the expansion and the impact of the rest is easily missed because of that.

The expansion offered two new character classes; assassin and druid. The assassin acted as a melee, dart-throwing, and trap expert while the druid could transform into an animal and summon them. Unfortunately, I don't much enjoy playing in any of those classes and thus it didn't make an impact in this playthrough.

New quality-of-life improvements were also introduced, such as the ability to carry two sets of weapons and the ability to switch between them on the fly. New more powerful gear was also introduced and it was needed when encountering new and more powerful enemies.

The game's new environments are mostly a frozen wasteland and icy caves. In my opinion, the least visually interesting setting in all of the five acts. It does deviate at times into sub-areas of hellish areas. But it is reused assets from the base game.

At this point in the game, the inventory space is painfully small and the stash is full of items that you are too afraid to sell because you want to use them later, but of course, never do.

The fighting and character building are still as fun as the base game and I never had a dull moment as the amazon. My necromancer friend did after a point complain about his large mob of skeletons doing much of the gaming for them. This game is much a game that you have to go all into your chosen build. Having already used the only respect allowed they were stuck using a build that they didn't really enjoy.

For the final boss, the second verse is the same as the first. A slogging match due to our builds not being optimal for that type of enemy. Most noticeable in how area-of-effect attacks melt through the necromancer's summons. But determination and most of our money's worth in potions won the day, rewarding us with an abrupt ending.

This expansion's campaign did not bring much to the table but I would still say that I recommend this expansion. I even say that it is a mandatory addition when playing it today. I did play Diablo 2 back in the day before the expansion and I would not do that again if I had an option. The base game and the expansion go together, like Diablo and Baal.

Several entire summers went into this game.

Great expansion that adds awesome new content but also fixes many issues. Has still not aged amazingly, nostalgia helps a lot. Still has issues like never explaining runewords or horadric cube combos. It is fine to have hidden combos but its expensive as hell to experiment with runewords and that is if you know that they exist in the first place.

The amount of hours sunk into this game is far too many than the majority of us can count. It definitely changed how future ARPGs were designed.

I played it in 2021 and 2022, and even though it's a game with graphics that I don't like and mechanics that I don't like, I still loved the game, it really has the essence of an RPG, and a captivating story.

Amazing expansion for a great game.

The expansion pack, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction was amazing and added new playable characters like the druid and the Assassin. It also featured an extra chapter of game play with a new end boss.

Right after you kick Diablo’s ass back into the pits of hell, you are informed by Tyrael that the last remaining Prime Evil, Diablo and Mephisto’s brother, Baal is located near the highlands of Mount Arreat, an area inhabited by Barbarians who defend the World Stone with their life. Baal has collected his Soulstone to keep it safe and is raising an army to attack the mountain and the nearby Stronghold Harrogath.

You battle Baal’s forces and defend the land of the Barbarian tribes. You defeat Overseers and commanders and travel through different areas like icy caves and rocky mountain paths. You eventually learn that one of the elders, called Nihlathak, made a deal with Baal to hand him over the World Stone if he spares the Stronghold from destruction. You hunt down Nihlathak and kill his ass.

Then you need to venture to the World Stone Keep, which can only be entered when defeating the three legendary Barbarian guardians. This was hard as balls but eventually I made it.

Then you find Baal and murder the crap out of him. Because the World Stone is now corrupted by Baal, Tyrael has no choice but to destroy it. The consequences of this action will be known after twenty years, in Diablo III.

I really liked the Druid character and the almost infinite minions from nature that you could summon. You can also turn into a freaking bear or werewolf, so epic.

The only problem I had with this expansion, the same as Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, is that Diablo himself felt like a side boss, because there is another boss or greater evil than him. He is supposed to be the most dangerous creature that ever lived, but now, you just whoop his ass and focus on the bigger problem that is just to come.

Overall, the expansion was a well-received add on for the original game and I loved every second of it.

When you thought that they can't do it better, they launch this masterpiece of expansion set, simply amazing

Hell yeah, Diablo 2, I love this game. I love going through the narrow-ass Maggot Lair filled with giant beetles that shoot a nonstop stream of lightning up your asshole. Love spending hours dicking around the forest in Act 3 trying to find the cave that has Khalim's eyeball or heart or cock or whatever the hell I have to find. I love grinding Tristram, Tal Rasha, and Baal runs for level ups and the slim chance of getting equipment that will inevitably be picked up by another player who has a quicker trigger finger. I love having to constantly teleport back to town every 10 seconds for heals in order to fight every Act boss that isn't Andarial. Want to play a summoner build? Too bad, every boss instant kills all of your summons if they so much as brap in their general direction. Don't forget to open up that Diablo 2 database for all 500 runewords for your socketed items so that you have a build that's halfway to viable once you get to the higher difficulties. Hey let's do some PVP, oh wait hammerdin Paladins will just immediately clobber you with a million flying hammers the moment you step outside of town.

Fuck this game. 10/10. Goddamn masterpiece.

The areas were great with interesting story parts to keep it fresh, they do not skimp on the dungeons at all. Some of the longest I have done in any Diablo game up until now. Interesting new enemies and extra little demonic portals to explore.

pretty much every game that tries to emulate D2 misses why D2 is the way D2 is. I'm pretty sure Blizzard doesn't even know why D2 is the way D2 is now; they even had to have Activision buy out another game studio to figure it out for them
