probably the worst rpg i ever played. big surprise

Starts fun and easy going, the combat system is engaging enough, i bought it for $7 and got 10-12 hours of fun before giving up so i'd say that's worth it if you want to kill time.

My main problem with it was that the quest system es broken, you can retake quest to get rid of excess items BUT after a story threshold some items simply won't ever drop again, and the game doesn't tell you that!

There's an in-game monster guide that shows you the drops (but no location, wich is annoying as well) and it's useless because it does not update pass the threshold! not to mentioned said threshold makes your engagement with the first part of the story very much inconsecuential.

First let me get this out of the way: the switch version is garbage. Play this game somewhere else.

As for the game itself.... it's fine. It's okay. Inoffensive even. Just like with a lot of Compile Heart games, it's only really appealing to a certain niche. I don't think I'm one of them. For what it's worth, I did like the character designs.

I liked it for the first hour and hated it for the next nineteen. Vacuous writing, repetitive combat, repeated dungeons. Seriously, what's up with the dungeons? It doesn't bother me that the game makes you revisit most of them after the loop—that trick goes back to Final Fantasy VI. No, what bothers me is that four dungeon layouts are reused—one twice!—with no explanation. Sure, there are texture changes, but the geometry is the exact same. Oh, and every side quest requires you to go back to the very end of a dungeon. Talk about padding!

sometimes when i feel like ive lost interest in video games, pure autistic kusoge KAMIGE SOVL like this will come around and rekindle my flame

the moment i heard the 1st fairize theme; full contact. i knew i had to play this game

Compile Heart's best game is anything that isn't Neptunia.

Forgot to write this before lol

This game peaks af when it decides to peak, the interactions with literally anyone and anything involving Fang is always a treat.
He's really that guy

Goddess route is still my favourite route but the new route was pretty good too, but it's on another level of wasted potential, like holy shit. It ends so abruptly that I'm hugely disappointed. Some of the new music is nice but I'd have preferred if some songs weren't changed at all especially the OST when pulling the swords out of the god/goddess.

Some new features such as that one open world map were an interesting touch but I was shocked by how little there was to even do in there.

The game is still ridiculously easy but the Vile God difficulty spike to initiate that Evil Goddess Route was a nice touch.

Overall the game is fun enough but it's unfortunately quite repetitive.

Briefly looking past the Wacky Anime Hijinks(tm) such as all the disgusting jokes making light of sexual assault (especially involving children) that you should expect by now from Idea Factory and such ...

I was actually surprised on multiple occasions by how much they seemingly raised the bar for themselves compared to Neptunia.
One example being how while most RPGs might let you only control a max of 3 party members at a time, this might be the only game I'm aware of that gives you 6 at once, which I'm a big fan of.

I'm actually amazed by how much I like this game, because only the first of its 3 routes satisfied me to any degree. Goddess route ends very typically for a cheap JRPG, but the way Tiara was handled in it tickled me right. The other two routes on the other hand felt like a lot of wasted potential. Their premises are great, but the way they're actually handled was nothing short of disappointing. I will never stop seething over how little we got of Yankee Tiara. The game also sucks to play, I'm not going to lie.

However, I still love FFF. The main trio, Fang, Eryn and Tiara are all so memorable and I love them all so much. It sucks that the rest of the cast aren't as good. I was hoping for a lot from Harler, but she didn't have anything interesting to her. The same applies to just about the rest of the cast, but it doesn't matter. The main 3 carried this game more than enough on their own, and that deserves praise.

Also, the opening theme to the vanilla version is a lot better than ADF's.

This game would be really hard to recommend, it has a really good story, great animation and music, the battle system is pretty good to, I'd say it plays like a cross between a Tales Of game and FF13. Where this game falters a bit seems to be at the grinding and the fact the dungeons range between too small or needlessly open, that makes finding fights easier to do but you repeat dungeons waaaay too often, other than that, I do love the characters and overall a decent RPG.

A reminder that IF and CH can still write serious stories besides Agarest, even if there's a good amount of comedy and nonsense within. This game had a lot of heart, and each route showed that off in a different way. I had a great time and would definitely recommend.

thx op i cum on fairy she hiss at piss

I've finished this on both PS4 and PC, I'd count this as the best Non-Neptunia Idea factory/Compile heart game. I really, really like this game and Ethel is ADORABLE

pretty underated rpg.
I LOVE the mechanics. its super fun, the music is so hype.
I love this game so much, its so good. its super different from the neptunia series but its made by the same creator. grinding in this game is fun, the bosses are pretty hard if you don't level up of course. and there's different things that could happen, characters end up living if you're in a certain level, and you can recruit them and that didn't happen for me. but for my first playthrough I ended up doing the goddess route. and got the tiara ending because she's neat. I'll probably do the vile god route when I have the time. the game's 20+ hours long. you really got to take your time on it.

It's pretty funny and has a great soundtrack, but don't play it for gameplay. If anything, play it on easy and skip out on the sidequests.

I like the combat system in concept, it's pretty similar to Kuro no Kiseki in that you move around and pick positional skills while still being turn based but this system just feels contrived and inaccessible. On the hardest mode I was basically just destroying everything with ability spam but when bosses were hard it didn't feel like there was any interesting strategy I could do to beat them, only grinding or relying on RNG. Might be a skill issue, and I might revisit the game at some point.

Also a lot of the quests just want you to get materials that have completely random and low chance to drop.

little fairy gremlin (we know the allegory) makes cool guy her errand boy

Compile Heart's Magnum Opus.

Compile Hearts may have a unfavourable reputation towards JRPG's fans due to low effort and repetitive nature, however every once in a while they can something exceptionally good to excellent and Fairy Fencer F Advert Dark Force is easily the best game that Compile Hearts has done.

Granted it's kinda repetitive at times, and one of the routes, writing wise isn't the best, however it's makes up for everything else.
The character dynamics and humor are phenomenal that made me care of almost every character.
Story is nicely written and engaging for the majority of it.
Good voice acting for both languages, excellent soundtrack, decent gameplay visuals.

One of the best and most underrated JRPGs to come out of the PS4.

(this is a repost of my Steam review with some slight modifications. you can read the original review here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/huuishuu/recommended/524580/)

ADF does to FFF what Persona 5 Royal did to Persona 5, if you want an example to compare it to. It took the base game and added in a bunch of additions and improvements to make it the definitive experience. Advent Dark Force introduces new routes with new endings, new dungeons, new playable characters, new characters just in general, and with that - way more incentive to replay the game if you've beaten it once.

I genuinely love how it pulls a twist on the original Fairy Fencer F story depending on which route you choose to take, which can genuinely throw off your perception on certain pre-established things in the universe.

Of course I have gripes with ADF, but in all accounts - this is definitely the definitive way to experience the best of what Compile Heart has to offer if Neptunia really isn't your thing.

Highly recommended, especially if Neptunia isn't your cup of tea, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force might just be by offering a more "traditional" experience.

It was good of what i played. Might go back someday

This is underrated, The story is VERY Mediocre but the characters and their chemistry is fantastic. Every scene I was laughing because of how dumb the main character is.

Fine comedy and actually one of the better CH systems but I dropped this shit so fast when I learned you have to do multiple playthroughs for the true route.

A bit generic, but If you don't mind anime tropes, you'll like this game. Likable characters, solid story with some pretty dark moments you wouldn't expect, lots of light-hearted comedic relief, fun turn-based combat system, good music etc. This game doesn't do anything amazing that'll blow you away, but everything it does it at least does good.
