Levels drags. But the multiplayer deathmatch is dumb fun.

The way Brian and Stewie stand n the cover is the most thug-gangster-ass shit ive ever seen in my life. Holy fuck.

Family Guy Back to the Multiverse is...
a Family Guy game, and is the second console Family Guy game.

The story can be considered a sequel to that of the first game, however in terms of variety, it's reduced in terms of what the gameplay is.

The story itself is very simple, Bertram is back attempting to destroy Stewie and Brian once again, and take over the MULTIVERSE. Brian and Stewie have to stop him by traveling to different universes in order to set things right in other universes and stop Bertram.

In the game you to 4 different universes, which is a bit lame because the show revealed there are more multiverses and sadly the utopian universe with Hot Meg and futuristic trains and super pigs isn't in this game.

The universe you travel to are:

- Frat Universe (universe were everything is run and treated by Frat Boy Culture. Stewie's teleporter isn't working because it sends to a universe where everywhere is treated like a sorority frat boy house. And both need to help an alternate Mort get lucky and he'll fix their device. )

- Amish Universe (Universe where technology failed and Amish values continued, main enemy here appeared in the show and is Ezekiel, who has been ordered by Bertram to kill Brian and Stewie)

- Handicap Universe- (Universe where everyone is Handicapped and Joe is essentially the leader of the Handicappable, again order by Bertram to kill Stewie and Brian. The best thing here is that they brought back Crippletron as the boss for this world).

- Evil Universe - (Universe where everyone is evil and we see the return of Evil Stewie, however sadly we do not get to see Evil Peter [Retep], Lois, Chris, or Meg, we do however get an Evil Adam West who wears a red suit and a blue tie. Brian and Stewie have to stop Evil Adam West and after being spared, asks them to kill Evil Mayor McCheese in order to take office once again in Evil Quahog).

- Pirate Universe - (Universe where everything, everyone, and everywhere are in the theme of Pirates, and you're enemy hear is Long John Peter. This is more so just a level as you don't really see anything worth while, as you're stuck on the boat and you only fight other boats, and later have a last stand with Long John Peter)

- Industrial Christmas - (Universe where people bought all their Christmas presents online and Santa had to abandoned making toys for kids and instead manufactures weapons for sell and for Bertrams Multiverse Army.)

- Chicken Aliens - (This Universe is where Chickens, like the one Peter Fights, took over the world and Brian and Stewie are transported to the Mothership. You never directly interact on planet Earth seeing the chickens and what they've done to Quahog, instead you just fight the Giant Chicken's wife who acts similar to that of the Xenomorph Queen. They kill the Queen and save Peter, only for the Giant Chicken to appear and as Brian and Stewie are returning to their universes enter the teleporter as well.)

- Original Universe - (Original Family Guy Universe is broken down into 2 different final fights.

1. First you play as Peter for the one and only time and have a fight against the chicken in the Quahog airport, and Peter here defeats the Chicken by punching him into a plane engine, but as always the Chicken is SOMEHOW still alive.

[Also one inconsistent thing is that I'm not sure if the Chicken and Peter who fight are from the Chickens in Space Universe, or the Original Universe, because if it's the former, then there are 2 Peters in the official universe, if it's the latter then Bertram stole the Original Peter and Giant Chicken]

For Brian and Stewie they have a last stand against Bertram who has taken over Quahog with his giant, weapon strapped T-Rex and army of alternate multiverse versions of himself. Stewie and Brian defeat all the multiverse variations of Bertram and defeat Bertram and his T-rex. Brian destroys Bertram's teleported and his later fed to hid T-rex killing him once and for all. The Family meet together at the end and crack a meta joke about game sales as the game ends.)

The gameplay is just running and gunning in 3rd person with Stewie and Brian having an arsenal of weapons pretraining to what they would reasonably use as weapons in the show. Stewie gets an arsenal of hightech laser weapons and explosives with his main being his standard iconic laser pistol, while Brian has an armory of regular military weapons with his main being a desert eagle.
The game's story mode allows you to play in co-op with Player 1 controlling Stewie and Player 2 controlling Brian, however if you play in single player you're allowed to switch alternatively between them, and they share separate health. So if you're in a pinch with Stewie, you can quickly switch to Brian in order to save yourself.
The game essentially has you progress forward in each level, having you solve puzzles, eliminate enemy spawns and turrets, fighting standard repetitive enemies of different varieties in terms of attacking you in hand to hand combat or using weapons. Throughout the world you're able to collect collectibles pertaining to each world, as sort of a side mission if you want to go for the full completion.
This leads to unlockables such as more characters for team death match offline multiplayer co-op and alternate costumes for Brian and Stewie for the main game.

The standard run and gun gameplay is sort of the central focus of the game and I think based upon the previous game, the developers saw it as the only fun part of the original. However the only time the gameplay changes is when you play as Peter for the only time where the combat is essentially a more open, 3d version of the combat from the previous game.

The game has a legit boring and unfun multiplayer mode you'll get bored playing as while it does feature different locations to "revisit" levels from the game but set as a team death match and other modes where you and a friend fight each other. Here there are more characters to play as, each with their own special weapons and arsenal, making me think the entire family was suppose to be involved in the game's story, but they changed the story to be just Brian and Stewie.

Multiplayer features the following characters (6 base roster, 4 unlockables):

[Base Roster]
- Stewie
- Brian
- Peter
- Meg
- Chris
- Lois

[Unlockable]
- Cleveland
- Quagmire
- Mayor Adam West
- Death

Each having their own 4 unique costumes to be able to unlocked via the shop as throughout the main story you're able to collect money that can later be used to unlock said items.

The only thing is while the alternate costumes are cool and you're able to play as the Griffin Family and 4 others, the multiplayer is just genuinely not fun and boring.

The game has a fine enough story with a lot of missed potential with the universes they feature and missed opportunities in the universes that they don't have in the game.

A big con is the amount of stupid reused catchphrases they use whenever the characters do ANYTHING in the game. You pick up an item: catchphrase, you get hurt: catchphrase, you literally are walking and enemies appear: ANOTHER DAMN CATCHPHRASE. And it's not "dialogue from how the characters are reacting" it's literally reused voice lines and reactions from the show.
I'm surprised that there wasn't a single cut away gag in this game, and if there was I forgot. The cutaway gags in the previous entry led to upgrades and items that helped you on your journey, it was a good aspect from the previous games. Kind of weird they didn't take that aspect of the previous entry and do that here, however I can infer that perhaps they didn't do that since most of the cutaway minigames were tedious and sometimes unfair.

I think for the most part it's average, it's fine. I think the story is a fine enough Family Guy Stewie and Brian episode game.
The story is simple, and the gameplay is repetitive. The levels themselves all look unique in terms of the universes that are within the game, the only one really looking bland and boring being the Pirate Universe. The game has a lot of missed potential in terms of more universes they could've explored that would've been more interesting, but all in all... it's fine enough, average shooter platformer.

I'm giving it 3 stars in terms of nostalgic value for me, but I could drop it down to 2 or 2.5 due to the AWFUL multiplayer vs mode, but really 3 stars just means it's something that I'll probably forget considering how forgettable it can be. Only reason I ended up doing this long review is because someone brought it up in a convo and it unlocked this memory of this game.
Still though I think for what it brings to the table in terms as a game, it's just average.

ITS ACTUALLY PEAK HOLY SHIT BEST GAME EVER CHANGED MY LIFE

Played this one weekend with Mitchell and left Jacob in the dust, sorry Jacob at least you got the plat!

Family Guy is one of my favorite TV shows because of the original and loveable cast of characters. It may offend some people, but I think it is one of the best shows of the past decade. Family Guy tried diving into the game market back in 2006 and was a complete disaster. I was very skeptical about this game, but it is quite a bit of fun for a Family Guy fan, but as a game in general, there isn’t much to it and it feels about 10 years old.

You play as Stewie and Brian who are trying to stop Bertram from massing an army and destroying Quahog. They travel to 8 different universes that are full of charm and wit, but that all stops with the visuals and voice acting. The game feels like something from the early 2000’s with weak platforming and repetitive shooting. It is good and solid, but there isn’t anything in between. Running around and shooting the same enemies over and over is dull after the first level. The only thing that kept me going was to see the new wacky levels and the story. There are weapons you can buy over time and acquire, but most felt useless. I honestly stuck with Brian and his shotgun and pistol through most of the game. The enemies just come charging at you and you just blast them away. It looks goofy and captures all the charm from the show, but I know there can be a better Family Guy game.

For people who are into it there are collectibles in each level that unlock new costumes, but to be honest, why would you go back through this game again? It gets really boring as it is towards the end with the only thing breaking up the monotony are boss fights. I wish there were mini games or something thrown in here, but each level feels the same. Pull this lever, turn this valve, hit this button, it never changes. For someone who isn’t a Family Guy fan, this game would be God awful, but FG fans will dig it as a weekend rental.

The game has co-op play which is the most fun to experience the story and hilarious lines with another FG fan. One thing to note is that the PC version doesn’t have any graphics settings and the highest resolution is 1280×720 what is up with that? It actually looks worse than the console games if you have a large monitor. The lack of PC support is a real shame and shows the studio doesn’t really care about PC gamers. The graphics are alright and capture the show’s art style, but there isn’t much to write home about. This game isn’t worth the $50 price tag at all, but a weekend rental will suffice.

If you are itching for some Family Guy gaming this game has finally nailed it, but just barely. As a Family Guy game this is pretty fun, but as a general game, it feels over 10 years old with dated mechanics and repetition that will make you fall asleep.

whoa ass ahoy!

Like if you have Family Guy nostalgia.

Holy Crap this game is 3d platformer and 3rd person shooter combined.

Giggity giggity giggity!

Unfunny and unoriginal, I think almost all the lines were ripped from the show? Gameplays a slog, playing it’s a slog, just don't try it.

One of the oddest games i have on my library...and surprisingly not a bad one. Not much to say here. Okay levels and gameplay, some funny jokes here and there and the expected short playtime. Fighting a robot made up of wheelchair people made the experience worth it though, let's be honest.

I knew going into this that I was going to hate it, and I most certainly hated the Family Guy "aspect" to the Family Guy game, but the gameplay and overal structure had me more interested.

While painfully mediocre, the gameplay and level design feels oddly similar to Ratchet & Clank, which is certainly an interesting genre to base your licensed game on. While the game never feels all too fun to play, it's mindnumbing enough to last you the near 6 hour campaign without it truly overstaying its welcome.

Sweeting the package more is a bevy of offline multiplayer options and unlocks, rewarding constant progression and searching for collectibles. Unfortunately, the gameplay isn't nearly interesting enough to want me to continue playing this game to completion, despite it otherwise being rather easy. I messed aroudn slightly in offline deathmatch, then called it good from there, not caring what other options were available.

I seriously hate Family Guy, and just about everything about it, but I still endured through this playthrough with relative ease. Even though I rarely paid attention to the story and rolled my eyes at every half-baked attempt to be "3edgy5me." The only real reason I'd recommend and non-Family Guy fan to play this game is because it was developed by Heavy Iron Studios: the people behind Battle for Bikini Bottom.

Fun game based on the best Family Guy episode, legit good

It was unironically a fun game, a great co-op couch game.

Pretty sure it was my first Xbox 360 game too lol

hehe funny splitscreen with fart jokes hehehehehehe

This is the best iteration of a cartoon videogame yet. I've 100%'d it twice and I keep coming back for more. Humor is pretty funny and doesn't get old either. Definitely recommend 10/10.

I was relatively excited to see this one despite not really being a fan of Family Guy. After years of hearing how this is one of the best cartoon tie-in games ever, I can finally say it's... painfully mid. Emphasis on 'painfully' because I wasn't expecting this game of all games to be difficult to play through.

The presentation is alright, most characters made for 2D mediums won't look as good in 3D but if I can forgive Hit & Run then I can certainly forgive this one as it does try to emulate the style of the original show and does it well enough for PS3-era graphics. The fanservice is also really nice... well, to a point; after a while it does sort of become "haha yes I know Fam Guy" and gets especially egregious when they copy jokes from the show basically word-for-word. Though the aforementioned Hit & Run had similar references, the copied lines were basically limited to occasional quips heard whilst driving whereas it's very 'in your face' here. It did become genuinely tiring by the time of the seventh stage.

The gameplay is here, it works most of the time. It's nothing all that special to be honest. Most of what I remember were frustrating aspects that I basically had to play around, such as the weapon wheel sometimes just deciding to not swap your weapon because... I dunno. Combat is enjoyable at first but quickly gets repetitive, I think by the third level I discovered an infinite loop with the melee attack that just trivialized isolated enemy encounters. I suspect the devs knew this too as they'll often just chuck a big number of enemies at you, and then another wave of the same enemies, and then another... but unlike other beat 'em up games like Final Fight or River City where you're constantly on the move between waves, this game just expects you to stay and fight in one area to fight them all. And when I eventually gave up and just ignored enemies, stages became far shorterer... unfortunately the most annoying stage in the game cannot be beat this way, but it definitely would be incredibly short if not for the dumb amount of enemies constantly barraging you. This issue is especially egregious during the final boss fight, which would have been an enjoyably fun stage if not for the seemingly infinite number of enemies getting in your way and leading to repeated unnecessary death.

Honestly the most fun comes from the multiplayer, and it's at this point I should say I only played this game because a friend wanted to do co-op with it. If not for them I wouldn't have picked this up at all, let alone finish it. But anyways... the most fun was the multiplayer, mainly the 'capture the flag' ripoff which was just a lot of chaotic fun even with only two people barely understanding the game. The MOST fun was the second to last story stage where it turns into a 1v1 battle for two players, a worthy reward for suffering the game's flaws to that point. I wish it had just been a full Street Fighter clone at that point, but I loved it regardless.

Sorry to say but I obviously didn't understand the hype for this one. This mediocre, annoying to complete on minimal objectives game is one of the best tie-in games? ...I can't tell if people are just accepting anything that isn't the PS2 Family Guy, or if their tolerance is far more sturdy than mine. Because this game had a promising start but just became unfun to beat. Good for you if you like it, but I don't get it.

look, this isn't horrible, in fact there was a decent chunk i enjoyed, but it's definitely not a good game.

the gameplay isn't great, same with level design, and basically everything.

but there is a certain charm, especially if you're a fan of Family Guy, lots of references to the show.

I played this through co-op with my best friend and it definitely helped sooth the experience , but by the end we still were both ready for it to end, and it's only like a 4-ish hour long game so.

while it's buggy, not very well made, and just overall bland and unoriginal, it was all worth it for that sick ass chicken fight level.

Peeeeeetah, CrazyPills23 is in our living room and he's logging our video game on Backloggd.

Aw frickin sweet Loish! I love his hot takes.

One of the most fun times I've had playing a split-screen game in like forever since they don't make them anymore. Me and my friend were laughing our ass off because it is very bad and janky but that's a good piece of the fun of it. Very repetitive and I also FUCKING HATE FAMILY GUY IT'S SERIOUSLY NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING FUNNY but I did this for my best friend who really likes it so that's okay.

Also you can use Cheat Engine to give yourself infinite money and spam infinite Joe Swansons.

ALSO also the 1v1 between Peter and the chicken with me and my best friend was funny as FUCK and I loved it.

Really unmemorable which is surprising for a game about Family Guy. Gameplay was clunky and had its moments but not as good as any decent Family Guy episode.

who the fuck would play a family guy game

Lembro de ter devorado esse jogo com meu irmão, mesmo nunca tendo gostado de Family Guy

i remember playing it years ago and just forgot i even owned it to begin with. i didn't even buy it, it was a birthday present.

Genuinely a very fun game and remember playing this when it first came out and it was a good game, still holds up. Never been a huge fan of Family Guy but this is decent enough

It's Family Guy but a game. Don't expect anything

hey lois remember that time we were in a bland and boring video game
