diversity win this Yuri romance is still uninteresting as shit

Did not go into this expecting to love it as much as I did, but the charm put into every character really creeps up on you.

I have small gripes here feeling that there were some missed opportunities to explore the rules of the death game, but they are minor in the end and far overshadowed by just how great the character writing was. Miharu especially was a star of the show in that department, though Rinka, and almost everyone else endeared themselves to me by the end. Really great read overall!

a game about the dumbest lesbians you'll ever see

liked this a lot more than i expected. the writing at the start is a bit rough but it picks up fast and never lets go from there. the characters are all likeable, fully realized, and complex which is a rarity even in visual novels

Did Odette really imply at one point she thinks human trafficking is better than smuggling drugs? I re-read that whole exchange like 10 times and showed it to a friend and we can't interpret it any other way lol. Plus she also said she smuggles weapons anyway??? How is drugs where you draw the line after guns and people?

After 11 hours in, the voice acting has been shockingly mediocre and sometimes genuinely bad relative to how good the story and characters have been. Doesn't matter that much because like with all VNs I skip almost all of it due to reading much faster than they talk, but in this VN's case it's even worse because there seems to be a like 0.5s delay after text appears before the associated voiced line starts. The few times I've let the lines play out during the most tense moments have been very underwhelming.

Wait if Miharu was less than a year old when she was a candidate in the previous Divine Selection, how would she even have a Regret card for the elections? Can babies regret anything lol? Maybe just be a generic "life I would have lived if I grew up" card?

Why the fuck does the Bad Ending 2 ("This is another story") ending exist? Why would Miharu ever choose to kill Rinka just because Scale spouted a few things over the phone about being honest with herself. For fuck's sake, it completely shits all over her character, she'd NEVER do that, 0/10 ending

Also why did the translator decide to use the pronoun "it" for Lethe the explicitly male cat? That stood out so weirdly.

Fatal Twelve is more or less budget Steins;Gate combined with budget Danganronpa, but it's surprisingly not bad. The characters could definitely use more development (and many are quite generic, to be frank) and I found some parts in the middle a bit droll, but I think the narrative wraps itself up nicely regardless and the main twist leading to the true final ending was appreciated. It doesn't stand amongst the greats of VNs in my eyes, but considering its modest budget and runtime, I'd say Fatal Twelve succeeds in what it is trying to accomplish and is a nice little appetizer for getting your feet wet before diving into other text heavy and lengthier titles.

A really cool premise but they somehow managed to make a killing game boring, monotonous, and have no stakes. The protagonist is so bland beyond belief, she's been told that she has another chance at life and has been put in a killing game, what does she do? She's concerned about going to school and running her cafe. I wish we spent more time on the other characters POV because at least they actively play the game and try to find info on the other contestants. Even though the whole premise is about the killing game, we spend so little time actually within the divine selection, there's no strategising, no bargaining, not even the option to nominate someone. Instead, the only options you get are for pointless things that barely impact the narrative. The game advertises itself as being a killing game when the majority of the game is just boring slice of life fluff.

I think the story won't work nearly as well if you get the different endings in the wrong order, definitely feels as though there is one "correct" way to complete the game and if you stray from that the story beats probably won't work as well, however the game does a pretty good job of herding you to the correct choices so it worked well for me.
Fun ensemble cast in a death game can't go wrong!

Just did not grab me at all.

The genre feels a bit over the place, switching from “Kyaa! Her crush is Oblivious to her Love! What will we do! In Highschool!” to “we need to take down a terrorist”.
I think the strongest point of this game is its characters, I surprisingly grew attached to them despite my first impression being that they were walking cliches. I’m not saying that they’re #deep but they were more than what I was expecting and are lovable. It does the job.
The story/plot to unveil feels a bit weak, but I did enjoy the process to get to the truth. I really liked the Divine Selection parts.
[SPOILERS UNDER THIS]
Rinka being oblivious about her Miharu’s crush stops being funny after the first time. Rinka only realizing that at the VERY END OF THE GAME despite Miharu being like /that/ is excruciating. They’re cute when they’re dating though. I guess.
Why did it take so much time for Rinka to notice the picture of Dianna. You’re telling me she didn’t flip through the pages of the book??? God.
The reveal of Lethe being the man in the dream is less of a twist and more of a liberation if you caught it the first time Lethe showed up.
Despite all of that, I still did enjoy playing it!

Thoroughly enjoyed this Yuri survival thriller visual novel.

Honestly it's not interesting enough to keep me reading. The selection game feels a like there should be more rules or there should be more done with it. It does not feel like life is on the line that much and there's quite some characters that are OK with not making it alive so it's not exciting and i don't feel that much with the characters except the the old guy (Number V i think?). I also started fast reading to get to the interesting stuff but that even does not want to continue reading. I may have dropped it at a point that the story may get better (5th week completed) but so far i think it it's telling that i stopped reading it since i didn't picked the story back up and now it's a month later. Still, this was the first VN with a female protagonist though.
