Episode Prompto is fascinating in concept and unfortunately only partially as great in execution. This DLC is ambitious in scope regarding its narrative- a bit too ambitious, alas, as it only has so much time to tell the story it so desperately wants to tell. That all said, this does WONDERS for Prompto. I was already endeared to him going in and came out the other end a mess over him; I really do think that the absurdity of his situation is a good means to explore his anxiety and loneliness, and it really did resonate with me in spite of its weird, rushed pacing. I can't imagine reaching a certain point in the base game without playing this first, which is regrettably what I believe to bog Episode Prompto- and all of the other DLC, really- the most. Still, for what it is, it's pretty worthwhile, and the combat/presentation is all very interesting in its own right that I would genuinely recommend playing this if you like FFXV. Quick note: I never really found myself getting into the gameplay, but I know that a) a lot of people did and b) I'm notoriously horrible at any kind of shooter, so I'm opting not to comment on this in any depth.
they turned FFXV into got dang third person shooter
it sort of works but falls apart in the harder optional fights unfortunately, which is where Episode Gladiolus' combat shined
The story feels a bit more consequential, elaborating on the most out of blue twist that barely got touched in the base game

didn't care too much for the combat, but the story was again a nice gap filler as to what happened to prompto after the train. and it was definitely nice to spend some more time with Aranea. you just know Prompto was thinking all of this was worth it when she pinned him on the ground and yelled at him.
funny that one old, crusty, menacing dude was in a cutscene early on in the main game and never seen again, only to find out Prompto just shot him offscreen lol.

The story is definitely a step up from Episode Gladiolus.
Gameplay for Prompto is arguably less fun than the other three of the main boy band group, but still fun nonetheless. Once they introduce crackshots, the combat is much better especially against enemies that would take forever to kill with just bullets. The only problem is knocking an enemy down to be able to crackshot them can be random or sometimes grenades won't knock them down until a few more are used.
The challenges were also pretty cool. Fighting against Aranea was pretty fun finding how to defeat her. The snowmobile trials were ok, with the first one being pretty difficult to get the top ranking.

Yooo they put Jake's Campaign from Resident Evil 6 in FFXV!
It was nice, I like shooting things, the new songs are great, and the story is good. Superboss for this DLC sucks ass, tho, good thing I disabled Hard Mode Mod by now because it's a mess compared to Episode Gladio's.
The best thing about it, though, is that the the best woman in all of Eos gets more screentime!

prompto is an interesting thing since he gets a backstory out of the blue in the main game and this dlc is further expanding on that which is the cute twink trying to reconnect and make a sense of his past and the fear of feeling an outsider going back to his friends
truthfully I was taken aback by this dlc completely different approach than gladio due to the nonlinear type of progression and the fact that its not gonna play like the base game since prompto is a shooty shooty typa man . I enjoyed it tho so there's that probably not the most refined stealth / third person shooting experience out there but what can you do
so whatever story beats are cool gameplay is fine nothing that incredible apart for the snowmobile or whatever its name is stealing the show and aranea actually being one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in my life did you look at her I want to be saved by her too what the hell
the final boss fight with the giant worm is actually so fucking fun don't @ me and the EDM battle theme snapped

I love prompto man, voiced by ya boi robbie daymond, he’s just a cool ass dude. But for the dlc, I was pretty impressed by it. Had an actual story unlike the gladio one and was decently longer. Not too much substance but I appreciated the extra lore. Guns were hella fun but idk why they went that hard for the snowmobile😭
uuhhhhh... it's fine I guess?
Never a fan of the whole anime trope of "lets dump all this trauma & horrible shit on the sweetest, most attractive character for easy pathos", but I like that this is such a different biome & playstyle to have. Feels pretty undercooked, not much to the guns and it's really weird they offer snowmobile upgrades & such but you don't really get a chance to use them??? Neat enough, but way too short and underdeveloped.

Prompto's "conflict" comes absolutely out of nowhere with no setup or foreshadowing given in the main game at all. Nonsense story that feels like it should be in a Resident Evil game. Nothing screams Final Fantasy like shooting a mutant mechanical gorilla to death
There's a turret section in this DLC for a mainline Final Fantasy game.
Perfectly enjoyable DLC that made me angry because of how much it screams "franchise identity crisis"
There's a Frozen reference people. It has "hello fellow kids" energy all over it.
