this managed to make my pc fucking lag
how

I've had a very odd experience with this game compared to a lot of people. I started out with Black Mesa which isn't all that uncommon, but I actually chose to play MMod over my first vanilla playthrough given that I liked Half-Life 2's MMod variant. Given what I know has been added with this version, this very much feels like HL2 MMod without some of the bullshit sections of that mod.

The weapon enhancements added here, while not all useful, are nice choices given the game's nature and really add something. The silencers for the pistol and SMG provide a stealth playstyle alongside the crossbow if you want, even if playing this game in stealth feels a little jarring. However, that magnum sniper scope is a game changer given some of the enemies at a distance. Also really appreciate those weapon animations since it made the game play more like a modern boomer shooter than a 1990s FPS.

The enemy AI was also a welcome improvement with smarter movement and a bit more challenge. The military spamming grenades is still annoying, but everything else makes for a welcome challenge.

Combine this all with the ability to play specific chapters (and skip the ungodly long first chapter), new explosion VFX, and some other changes, and this is just an excellent enhancement all around. Highly suggest it for new and veteran players alike.

P.S. The platforming sections of HL1 really make me appreciate certain aspects of Black Mesa a lot more now. Good god were they annoying.

Whenever I go back to play Half-Life, I play MMOD. It's that good.

any excuse to play hl1 again i will take, and this is just hl1 with shinier effects; so its a 5/5.

My preferred way to experience the first title.

MMod makes so many small changes in the spirit of the original game that it makes it almost feel as if it was made as a modern boomer-shooter. I could gush on and on about how much I love this mod.

The Xen chapters are still annoying but I won't put that on the mod dev to fix.

Great fan-made remaster of Half-Life. I love the pixelated look everything has now, it has a lot of charm. The sound design has improved a lot. Encountered a couple of glitches, like flickering textures and things like that, but nothing game breaking.

Half-Life has aged really well, although some sections are pretty confusing. The game does have a terrible ending. Fuck Xen, fuck the endless hordes of vortigaunts and fuck that stupid three armed megamind fucker.

For those looking for a HD Half Life experience but don't want it as modern as Black Mesa or as shiny as the RTX mod. It's fine!

Before I say anything about this mod, I want to thank Gunship Mark and the team for all the hard work. Mark lived in what once was the beautiful city of Mariupol, Ukraine and managed to survive the siege of the city. The city itself was levelled to the ground while getting “liberated” by the russians. It is estimated that at least 25 000+ civilians were killed and 50 000+ deported. We can’t even imagine what Mark had to live through. More about his story on his Patreon and consider donating.

Half-Life: MMod is a refreshing way to re-visit the classic HL with modern fixes and improvements while staying true to the original game. A great way for new players to experience HL for the first time and is different enough to make it a fun playthrough for players already familiar with the franchise.

Could of been great but the new enemy placement and the extra mines is extremely annoying

A very nice overhaul to Half-Life 1's combat in every way, while also overhauling some enemy placements throughout the whole game, although maps are otherwise untouched (for better and worse).

Still features a lot of the jank of the GoldSrc engine, as well as some jank by its own, but is a must-play if you're raring for another playthrough of GoldSrc Half-Life 1. For newcomers to the series, I still personally recommend going for the original game, or the fan-remake Black Mesa.

Even after the 25th anniversary update for the original Half-Life, this mod is still a must-play if you're looking for a reason to replay the original but want to spice it up. Revised gunplay and enemy AI make it really refreshing on a replay, and the added visual enhancements and slight level edits make it feel different enough to be a reasonable alternative. The enemy count was increased too, this is great if you're looking for more of a challenge, though it can be annoying early-game when there's more enemies than you have ammo.

My favorite way of playing my favorite shooter

This is a really cool way for newcomers to experience Half-Life or someone looking to replay it; the new effects and additions to the gameplay like the guns and being able to see your feet are really really cool! However, what drags this mod down is the awful new enemy placement, specially in the first chapters, it's just enemy spam and it's not fun at all.

melhorou muita coisa, ficou legal

just one of those games where you'll try out a mod that makes some minor changes and end up playing through the whole game again

This mod is a pretty good way to make the original Half-Life more modern without being a complete overhaul like Black Mesa. Some shiny new affects like bloom on the armor batteries and vortigaunt eyes. The brand new explosions look nice, and gibbing enemies is more violent with a giant explosion of blood. But what knocks this down is some enemy placements, like the weird enemy placements on the cargo jumps in Unforseen Consequences. These are more annoying then challenging.
