This just rules. The peak of Build Engine FPS. Gorgeous art and world design, the added enemy variants make combat even more compelling than the base game. The vehicle section is a blast, and ends just when it should. My only complaint is that it ended a little too soon, but it is an expansion after all.
Ion Fury but just expanded and better. The new powerups are a joy to use and the levels once again continue to blow my mind in their artistic beauty and how much they can get away with the Build engine. Only wish it had a secret level and was a bit longer but this is a no-brainer if you loved the base game as much as I did.
technically not completed yet since 2 achievements are bugged. but i did do them so i did complete the game. just waiting on them to send out a fix for it.
anywho! incredible expansion. could have used one more level or a bit more animation on the final screen maybe? but regardless it was fun to go through the game again. arrange mode with angel of death was BRUTAL but it was so dang fun too. see you in Phantom Fury shelly!

I didn't vibe too much with the base game of Ion Fury, it felt like an overly drawn out game that was lacking in variety and had a really underwhelming final level. This expansion fixes all of that.
Levels are still sprawling, filled to the brim with secrets, but the game doesn't draw out for long. There's more enemy types and the designers are way less afraid to throw tougher encounters at you that aren't just spammy. To add on to this, we have the hover bike sections which are really fun. I was disappointed when it turned out that only the first one is like an arcade driving game, where you have a timer and have to avoid obstacles, but even just using it as a regular vehicle in normal levels was cool.
Had a great time with this, they designed a way better paced campaign with this and the final boss even is an actual enemy. I'm still not the fondest of the characters and all, but the game itself finally clicked for me when I gave this DLC a go, great fun.

Shorter, tighter, with more variety. At "just" 15 levels, this expansion clocks in at around half the length of the original. But it packs that length with more level variety and, interestingly, an entire stretch of levels dedicated to a new vehicle/hover motorcycle mechanic.

Aftershock é um exemplo bem produzido de como uma expansão deveria ser, com suas 8 horas divididas em uma campanha que mais parece um jogo de várias arenas, a sensação de frustração raramente aparece (só durante os momentos com vários inimigos em um ambiente apertado).
Apesar dos bugs na reta final e da última missão ser extremamente apressada e fácil, a intensa variedade de ambientes, gameplay e até mesmo de inimigos foi suficiente para lembrar os motivos da franquia ter se tornado a referência da nova geração do gênero.
Agora, só nos resta esperar sua continuação e torcer para que Shelly venha ainda mais caótica.
