Puta madre, yo me esperaba un juego triste. No un juego que me mostrara que los humanos son seres sin esperanza mas locos que una regadera.

Joder, yo queria sexo con la sepulturera.

Evil and fucked up Yuri, what is there not to love?

I didn't really look much into this game before downloading it, but I enjoyed it. The themes stay quite consistent in all routes and it's understandable if people feel like they know what to expect because of it, but I never failed to put my trust in each character, despite those little feelings that things might not go so well. I guess that's the whole "yandere" thing I glossed over though.

Beautiful, flowery prose wasted on long-winded nothing.
Once I got to the third and last of the mostly independent short-stories, I couldn't help but skip half the descriptive monologues, because I figured that I already knew how the story was about to unfold - and I did, because it went the exact same route as the stories before it.

I like the idea of the framing narrative and wish that was a larger focus of the experience. Instead, it felt like an afterthought to justify writing the same story three times to extend the playtime beyond what I could stomach.

i LOVE yandere yuri cannibalism man!!

After eight hours and multiple murder attempts, I am terrified to say... there is no LESBIAN SEX. Not even that, there is no kissing either, the max there is is getting eated, which I mean... its fine, but not enough. This is a sad days for girls (like me) who want to kiss other girls (like me).
(╥﹏╥)

Ok but now seriously, the writing is amazing, but it just tells nothing and it serves only to unnecessarily extend the duration of the story. It tells 3 stories that are almost literally the same, and they are not really great. They could all be summed up as: You are in the forest, encounter a girl, get in love with them and then they kill you because "Oh no I need to be with you forever!".
It just speaks nothing to me. It is a well done game but I just feel like it was a bit of a waste of time.

brief but really enjoyable read ! the art & music is really solid, especially so when u consider the fact that it was made for a game jam . .!! i def recommend checking it out if you dont mind the desolate tone.. the princess and the gravedigger have been on my mind an unhealthy amount since reading

very good and very creepy sapphic visual novel :)

I need a girl to eat me so bad

I was against cannibalism before reading this

I really like the writing in this. The way the story is narrated gives a really strong impression, what with the snarky, overly familiar narrator addressing the protagonist directly in second person. The aesthetic of it all is just amazing, with a captivating soundtrack and visuals that range from charming to haunting, but always remain beautiful.

Saying more without spoiling the experience would be difficult, so I'll just assure you that this is as good as it is gay!!

I loved this. I loved the prose, I loved the themes, I loved the way it cycles around itself. I devoured this game, and I loved every second of it. I know that this kind of meta horror VN is quite popular now, but even so, this is a fantastic example of it, and it really resonated with me.

Beautiful presentation and beautiful prose. It is rare to read anything written in second person, especially second person handled so well. I wish this level of style was used elsewhere though...

The repetition of “you sowed your own fate” really means nothing at all when there aren’t any choices I can make as the player to alter fate, aside from picking a route. All the routes including the true end, ultimately, are the same (meet one lonely lesbian who traps you somewhere and kills you), so I can’t help but feel that this message is at odds with the rest of the storytelling. Oh well! Can’t really go wrong with a cute mermaid girl.

Pretty good representation of the obsessiveness and desperation that can be born from loneliness with some cool creative use of its structure to tell its story.

The game is actually really cool, I liked the story but the fact that you have to play it aaaall again like three times to get all the achievements it's kinda lame

starting to think homicide is the greatest expression of love but idk

gravedigger...

save me gravedigger...

gravedigger.....

Short VN, with solid art and music.
It builds up tension with heavy breathing sounds or drops it with the chirp of birds, the backgrounds are mixed very nicely with the art-style of the sprites.
Multiple routes (3) + True ending, love the final twist + the author's comment on the game.
Oh did i mention that it is FREE? No? well now you definitely have to try it

And the VN was made for a game jam. Unbelievable

random visual novel with yuri themes i found at the bottom of a site but surprisingly fun and interesting story + good art. has a very lonely vibe though.

I also want a pretty princess to eat me alive :(

If I was a lonely mermaid I too would take the only human I met with me to the bottom of the ocean

"Life's a fleeting thing in this wicked world."

It gets so lonely here was made by Ebi-Hime for the Yandere Game Jam 2023 and as the title of said convention suggests was released in 2023. Before and after its release the title was heavily advertised for its yuri cannibalism, and I am happy to declare that it lives up to the promise!

I won’t be getting too much into the story aspects of the VN as it is a 2 hour romp and I don’t want to rob any would-be readers of the experience! It has a very specific theme and explores how love can have a unique meaning to each of us. Interestingly, the story is also told in a 2nd person point of view; something that I believe Ebi has only done once before, but it’s so well done that you wouldn’t guess it.

The game has multiple routes, with a true ending, and a few bad/game over endings. In my opinion, it does a great job building up tension and atmosphere on each of those routes by making use of sounds such as birds chirping and heavy breathing (as the situation demands).

The background art has this washed out/stained glass look to it which helps build on said atmosphere, while the characters have a vibrant and often jovial look to them. The character designs are very pretty and have an innocent look to them. I’m not going to get too much into detail, because again, I don’t want to spoil much; but one of the characters has a lovely dress that reminds me of Chain Chomp from Super Mario Bros, which is a statement I’d never thought I’d make (or a fashion statement that I never thought would work out so well).

The soundtrack contains lots of piano, perhaps nothing but, managing to switch between hopeful and ominous as the situation demands. All in all, I’d say the piano gives off a classical feel, in fact, sometimes the music sounds downright enchanting!

The game also contains the traditional gallery, music, and notes in an extras section that Ebi-Hime games are known for! Reading Ebi’s thought process and what decisions led her to write the story the way she did is interesting and entertaining to say the least!

Another thing that I really appreciate is that the textbox is embroidered with flowers, which matches the png icon of the game (also a flower).

Speaking of, The UI while playing/reading is really nice and unintrusive! It has buttons for going back, going forward, skipping through text you've already read, a save button and an exit button; all of which are made obvious by the pictures that overlay on them. It’s simplistic and unburdensome, and I wish more Visual Novels would take that approach with theirs instead of making me have to right click and scroll through menus/tabs to do so!

Did I mention that ‘it gets so lonely here’ is eternally at the very low price of free? It’s a steal and well worth the read, so check it out!

Death by Chew Chew!

cannibalism can be so romantic actually /srs

The cliche that fanfiction has a house prose-style is one I've heard maligned quite a lot, but I think it's a lot easier to argue that specific subgenres have stylistic conventions. It gets so lonely here is written in the shared voice of abuse-themed femslash, in a way which brings out its strongest features- the giddiness with which the prose circles the events described, the pop-Austenian explication of social dynamics. One route's notably weak in comparison to the other two, but the whole thing's buoyed by the spirit of fun in which it was composed and it which it's easy to share.
