Fun 3d plattaformer from an era were they made thousands of those

PS2 döneminden kalma, unutulup gitmiş bir başka oyun serisi. Çok bir olayı da yok. Ve karakter, kangurudan çok tilkiye benziyor.

This game was a fun lil' time that didn't overstay its welcome. It doesn't do anything amazing but doesn't really need to in the first place. Probably the best 99 cents I've ever spent

Really very good game, not as much as Crash Bandicoot but it's cool, it's a shame it's short. In one day of gameplay I finished a total of 9 hours

Nothing too special if you will play this game in 2023, but it can give some fun.

It can be annoying on some levels.

classic 00's platformer, pretty bland but not an uninteresting play

I mean, it's a game about a kangaroo with boxing gloves. How could it be bad?

The remaster is really nice. It's a good platformer but a shame the other two games didn't get a remaster too.

o game tem uma grande evolução geral pro seu antecessor mas acredito que seja consequência de novas tecnologias e plataformas disponíveis para o game (muito mais potentes que as do primeiro game).

Segue a linha do primeiro, é um jogo divertido!

Kao the Kangaroo Round 2 is a perfect B tier platformer.
Kao is adorable, level design and enemy designs are creative and colorful. Whole experience is as wholesome as it gets.
Platforming is really solid and well paced.
Combat even though ultra simple - it's fun! Especially throwing boomerangs. It doesn't take away from the mainly platforming focused game.
What has to be said is that it feels A LOT like Rayman 2. And by a lot I really mean it.

The Most Popular in the series, and the one that really made the series JUMP to that another graphical and technological level. While charming it is not that deep in depth nor is there any sort of challange. 4/5

This is a fun 6th gen platformer that is worth playing just to watch Kao's head do that thing it does when he goes underwater.

Un buen plataformero, divertido, retador y bien hecho :3

This game is so forgettable that I neglected to post a Backloggd review of it until now, over 3 years after I played it.

Aw Fuck Yeah Dude Let's Goooo

Great game from my childhood.

As a kid, I loved the first Kao The Kangaroo game. It had its charms like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. When the sequel came, I could not wait to play it and it did not disappoint me. Now that the game has been released op Steam, I had no choice but to play it again.

Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 feels quite different from the first game, mainly because of its animation style, I guess. You must save the animals once again from the evil hunter. To do this, you must complete four worlds with a different animal theme to proceed. In the end you beat the hunter, and everyone is happy.

The graphics are nothing special, even for the time but the music and sound is actually quite good.

The story and purpose are clear in the game but the voices of the characters that guide you trough it are a little bit robotic and awkward. But nothing to be complaining about.

There is one complaint however, I do not know if this is because of the Steam port or what, but the controls in the sea levels are broken. You need to press the jump button in a calm motion to swim forward but instead of slowly swimming, Kao does not do anything. Only when you mash the jump button like a baboon something happens. Therefore, three levels where a complete chore to finish and killed some of the fun I had with the Steam release.

But besides that, I just relived a part of my childhood and with the added achievements, it motivated me even more to finish it perfectly with all the collectibles.

For the low price I would definitely recommend it.

A neat 3D platformer with sweet level designs and decent platforming, if you're a fan of N64 or PS1/PS2 platformers you should give this a try.

jedyna gra w której nabiłam platynę (mam to wpisane na CV)

Never got to finish it, but it was free.

superanckie nawet, gdy grałem w 2021

My endless hunt for good 3D Platformers continues with Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2, yet another game Nitro Rad talked about. However, even he was pretty lukewarm on this one, so my expectations were tempered here.

Firstly, let me say that this is yet another case of IGDB having the clearly inferior box art. The US version's has not only far better use of foreshortening and color contrast, but also a great metacontextual commentary on the game itself. Oh well.

Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 is by far the most popular game in the series, and you still may not have heard about it. I picked it up at a retro game store near my home despite how cheap the game is on steam sometimes (Once even being free).

I can't really say that this game is all that great. It's a pretty serviceable platformer, but it's not really unique in any way. As inconsistent as a game like Glover can be, I really appreciated the uniqueness of the movement, level themes, and music. Wait, no, Glover is a masterpiece, I meant Demon Turf. Anyway, Kao Round 2 doesn't really do anything unique at all. In fact, it's extremely derivative of Rayman 2. You start in prison, the second level is called 'The Great Escape', you gain a hover ability, etc etc... However, this game also lacks a lot of what I liked about Rayman 2: The great, cohesive variety and the good use of mechanics focused around a simple moveset. In these regards, this game is extremely simple with few interesting mechanics. Like, I can't think of anything interesting right now. The movement is also very barebones, although I liked the infinite roll you can earn near the end of the game. Despite how simple it is, this game holds your hands pretty much throughout the entire game. I guess it is a baby game, and you can skip any dialogue, but this was still somewhat odd to me. I did appreciate a lot of the more obscure collectible hiding places though, even if the gems are pretty much useless.

Despite that, this game does have better combat than Rayman 2. That's not because this game's combat is great or anything, and moreso because the combat of Rayman 2 is so mediocre. We have a 3 hit combo, aerial attack, roll, ground pound, and boomerangs. It's fine as far as 3D platformer combat goes, but the hit detection can occasionally be wonky. It also has boss fights, which was something Rayman 2 lacked. They're fine.

The story of this game is interesting. You have to get 3000 dabloons to go fight the boss, which may make you think this is a collectathon where you're given freedom in your stage choices, but nah. 2000 of these have to be gained through the levels you play through in a completely linear fashion. At that point, I don't get why they didn't just use a different macguffin or something. Also, I don't get why Kao didn't just beat up the guy demanding money like he did with every other guy. He had no problem stealing a guy's money and beating him up, so it's not a moral issue, and the guy doesn't look particularly tough. I dunno.

I know I've been pretty negative here, and honestly the only thing holding me back from giving this a 4/10 is how charming this game can be on occasion. Kao sounds pretty cute and his neck stretches out in water. So, 5/10 I guess. Maybe I'll lower it to a 4/10 later.

You know, I should really play the first one, especially since I have a Dreamcast. Let me go pick up a copy on eba-

O_O

One of the most annoying 3D platformers I've had the displeasure of playing. None of the characters have an endearing personality, the story sucks, the controls frequently don't work and there are a lot of questionable choices in its level design. Even for 2003 it felt outdated.

Gameplay - 7
Trilha Sonora - 5
Gráficos - 8
História/Campanha - 8

Nota - 7

The spanish dub was the only good thing about this game.

It's alright, nothing crazy. The levels are pretty linear with occasional nook and cranny. The level design is alright, and the combat is fairly repetitive, there's not much enemy variety. There are frustrating aspects, like sections where you have to throw an objects at something and these are pretty slow and boring, and if you fail, you'll have to repeat them again, although there aren't many instances of this. The collecathon aspect is actually kinda lame. There's loads of coins that are only required for the last level to beat the game, aside from that there are stars, the only collectibles that are actually useful, as they augment abilities for every 50, like adding a glide ability to the jump, or making midair tail attack more powerful or allowing to roll indefinitely. Lastly, there are crystals that unlock worhtless mini-games, like button mashing for beavers to drop a tree, or button mashing for a race. There's not much to say really, it's a fine enough 3D platformer if you're starving for those, but if you want a great 3D platformer experience, play something else, like Super Mario 64, or Ratatouille for the Wii.
