A pretty solid 3D platformer that doesn't overstay its welcome. I never played the original Pac-Man World despite playing the hell outta 2 (and to a lesser extent, 3) as a kid, so it was pretty neat finally checking it out via this remake. Would recommend.

Never made it far in the original so this was mostly all new to me. From what I hear, it's mostly pretty faithful. Bosses seem to be updated for the better. I dramatically prefer the OG cutscenes though. It's impossible to match the quality and energy of old FMV's in unity. A lot of the game being tied to a high score felt lame and outdated on the PS1 let alone on the PS5. They could have at least thrown in some online leaderboards of some sort if not a proper ranking system.
Thankfully though the games got a decent achievements list which made that aspect not let the collectibles feel too worthless, as 100% was fun enough.

Level design is pretty standard and gets a bit repetitive at points. A lot of back and forth seeing locked doors, getting the fruit to unlock them shortly later and backtracking to open the door. The new bosses were pretty good as far as old 3D platformers go.

I like that this remake exists more than I really care for this game specifically. The theming and overall design don't really do a whole lot for me. It's consistently extremely safe in its level design and doesn't offer much challenge. But this is a good remake of an okay game. Even with the remake's improvements it's nowhere near as good as Pac-Man World 2 though.

My first true delve into Pac-Man World 1 and it was a good time. Definitely feels like a relic of its time with its sometimes-awkward lack of full camera control, but the visuals are charming & the platform action is plenty good enough. If they ever make a Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac though? Then we'd be talkin'.

Fun platformer and a solid remake.
Minus a few bosses where it gets a bit stupid and you get hit like nothing. All the minigames with the mazes are super fun and the ost is catchy too.

It’s Pac-Man World at its core so it’s an inoffensive fun time but it’s really nothing super special. at the end of the game right before the final boss I accidentally deleted my entire save file and I refused to go back and replay it just to get to that point again so that should honestly say enough to me about how I feel about it

This is technically a video game you can play.

First time playing and the gameplay is solid and I love the Pac-Family. I do think that this is a very basic and easy platformer, but that's just me who is used to playing other more difficult games.

I hope the second game get's the remake soon.

A well put together remaster of the original PS1 3D platformer centered around Pac-Man saving his family from the ghosts. It captures the essence of what made it good back in the back and fixes as much as it can a lot of difficulty problems I used to have, mainly concerning unfair boss battles, hard to track collectibles and overall level design.

While the presentation is cleaner it also comes off as a bit flat for my taste, not translated to the music which really did get the better deal with cleaner compositions as well as a few welcomed additions. Controls are mostly enhanced with the exception of the rev roll having some trouble on ramps and the controls not being snappy enough in the original mode (weird, considering a port of that game already exist in each of the platforms this released on).

In any case, this is definitely the preferred version to grab more so at a discount as you should be able to complete it in under 10 hours.

Pretty awesome platforming. Basic for most people and it's the equivalent of "baby's first platform", but it entertains and it's full of charm for me. Very polished and the presentation is gorgeous.

The jump ramps are outrageous, but beside that and one single tedious backtracking it's all really nice.

did y'all know they ran a survey on twitter and everyone who took it unanimously demanded more remakes and even brand-new world games

if that ends up working then damn the rest of the series is in good hands

Its cool, I like Pac-Man and I wish they made more use of this IP. This is kinda like the most mid platformer I've played but I like Pac-Man. Now remake Pac-Man World 2.

Its a pretty okay platformer. Though it is on the short side.

The Pac is Back!!!

Good short 3D platformer

One of the biggest issues that I have is the game's lighting so sometimes platforms have shadows cast over them that make it very hard to tell if you'll land on them, but I mostly noticed this happening in a few later levels so it's not a super persistent issue

When I was a kid, I used to spend a lot of time at an after-school club kind of place. They had a PSX with about 3 games on it (and no memory cards), and the original Pac-Man World was one of them. So yeah, I played the absolute shit out of this game when I was younger... especially the first few levels. So I have some very very strong nostalgia for what is, let's be honest, a pretty meh late 90s mascot platformer that straight up steals concepts and designs from Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario 64. If I was to rate the original Pac-Man World given the context of its development, I'd probably give it about 2.5 stars, maybe 3 if I really let the nostalgia take over.

But this... this is not a good remake. I enjoyed it, sure, because for the most part it is just that game I remember from being a kid. But this really does just feel like a cynical attempt by Bandai Namco to try and copy some of the success of the likes of the N Sane Trilogy and the Reignited Trilogy. For the most part, the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot remakes felt like a damn good effort to take these ancient games and make them palatable to a modern audience, using some of the experience that game development as a profession has gained in the intervening 20 years to tidy them up a bit. Re-Pac... doesn't really do this; despite looking decent overall (the art style is extremely simplistic but it fits the theming), Re-Pac still very much feels like a game from the late 90s. There's repetitive bonus levels, an incessant unskippable slot machine minigame after every level, janky 3D platforming with zero depth perception and cobbled together boss fights that are either trivial or frustrating. And sure, all of these things were in the original. But Re-Pac came out in 2022. The devs had a chance to fix it and strip some of the 90s baggage that the original came with, but no... this is very much a warts and all approach to a remake.

That's not to say they didn't change anything. But I actually think most of the little tweaks that came with the ground up remake in a new engine actually made the game worse. I kept finding objects that should have collision but didn't, or the other way round; I got nearly soft-locked at one point when Pac-Man grabbed onto some random piece of scenery way outside the intended play area and just refused to come down. Some of the visual and audio design is pretty broken too, shockingly so in places; a few times there are sound effects that are straight up missing, and an awful lot of animations seem to trigger off Pac-Man being nearby and would just glitch the fuck out if you spent more than a nanosecond near the trigger border. But the worst thing the new devs did is whatever they did to the dash ability. And to be clear, I don't know what they did to the dash ability. But it used to be the most fun movement technique in Pac-Man's arsenal, whereas now it's the most temperemental and slippery thing in the entire game. There are quite a few times in this game where you are supposed to dash at a ramp to clear a gap, and it's not supposed to be a challenge. But now the dash just... doesn't go where it's supposed to any more. And it's incredibly inconsistent; there were a few jumps where I swear I was taking them exactly the same each time I tried, but I would fall short 4 or 5 times in a row before massively overshooting on the 6th attempt. I don't know how you fuck this up so badly; if something about Unity physics has broken how the dash is supposed to work, just hard-code the jump trajectory for the dash jumps. Anything would be better than this.

So yeah... did I enjoy this? Well yes I did, but 100% because of the fond childhood memories of the original. This is a cynical and low effort remake that feels like it was sharted into existence and barely tested at all, and that makes me a bit sad to be honest. But the existence of this did give me a chance and an excuse to revisit all these levels I knew so well. I dunno, I guess I would rather this existed than no remake at all. But it really does need a few more buckets of polish to be anything other than a nostalgia trigger.

Sem muito o que dizer, mas é um platformer vanilla bem legalzinho

This is a really good game that I did not play the original version of. It is a bit too easy (often a stated problem with this entry regardless) but it is still worth a play. I like Pac-Man okay he's a funny guy!

Solid little platformer you can beat in one sitting. I HATE THE BLOWTORCH ENEMIES!!!!!

Solid platformer, had some issues with the controls here or there, but solid!

A nice fun simple 3D platformer, good level design, good visuals and a good soundtrack, gameplay is smooth and the bosses were a good time.

The game heavilly encourages exploration and getting as many points as you can, definately makes the game more enjoyable than if you were to just blaze through everything, the game isn't super challenging, but not so easy that it becomes boring, a good balance.

The only 2 minor nitpicks I have with the game is that because of the camera angle it can be hard sometimes to see where you're gonna land, kinda messes with your depth perception, similar to crash 1 in a way, and the other thing are the ramps, they seem like a crap shoot whether you'll actually either get up or reach the other side.

All in all, as someone who hasn't played the orignal, I had a good time with it, and I recommend it if you just want a nice chill platformer to play.

( Played on the steam deck, works fine, there wasn't an option for linux in the platform list which is why it says windows :/ )

A really solid remake of a fun yet very basic platformer. The minimal exploration in this game is fun but it does tend to sometimes feel pointless and time wasting. It's pretty faithful to the original besides some presentation changes like poor Ms Pacman being replaced by that fraud Pac-Mom and the delightfully cheesy voice acting being replaced by Banjo-Kazooie-esque grunting.

Played the Switch version and nabbed all collectibles, but did not go for the Magic Key, which required me to earn a combined total of 765,000 points. Points are only added after earning a new high score in each stage, so I left my file at 98% completion.

Es un juego muy bueno para aquel que vaya empezando en plataformeros, tiene su parte difícil en algún momento pero creo que es más porque le falta sombras. La música se siente que no le agregaron o mejoraron nada, un juego corto que cumple.

A simple, unremarkable 3D platformer, that is also structured and built like a 2D platformer. A bit of harmless, unchallenging fun that lacks any sort of its own identity.

But I like 3D platformers, even the simple ones. Playing this on the Deck while laying on my couch was a pleasant experience.

I bought this one on a big sale on Steam for less than 10 bucks. I recommend you do so as well if you are interested in this game.

Abandoned it while fighting the last boss. Not hard. Just frustrating. Also I really stopped caring by the end.

World leaders need to learn a thing or two from Pac-Man and Toc-Man forgiving one another like that

Very fun and a little goofy, just the way I like it.

I bought it on Steam after it was on a really good sale, not expecting much beyond a fun game. Never played the original.
I'm surprised! It's a really fun and charming game, being easy for newcomers yet having a challenge for those that want to 100%, but most importantly, it's a great reinvention of Pac-Man, from a maze game to a mascot 3D platformer, without losing its identity or feeling like just a cheap cash-in to get with the times (considering the original was released when 3D platformers were at the peak of popularity), it feels more like Namco following the trend paying attention how could Pac-Man make it unique. I recommend this one!
