Never finished because of that BS tyrant fight on the plane, still mad over that!!! BTW!!!
Besides that though the game up to that point had me locked in for hours. I love the story. The atmosphere and characters are just so interesting. A little cheesy at times tho lol. Gameplay was fun and isn't a bad start for my first tank control game. Really they are anal about the "survival" aspect. Certain items like healing and specialty weapons need to be saved. Probably will beat this another day

I loved Code Veronica so much. It's totally a B movie but they don't try to be serious at all in this game. It's the creepiest game of the franchise to me.

a decent RE game of the classic era, the bosses suck though

Give us a modern reimagining of this game please.

Eu comecei gostando bastante do jogo.

One of the worst games I have ever played in my life. As a survival horror game, the bosses are abysmal with potential of soft locking, backtracking horrendous, voice acting subpar, and whatever the plot has turned to. The only thing I like is the concept of ants for the zombies this time which was wasted here.

While this could be considered a Tier 2 game, it has no redeeming points and mostly negatives considering its pedigree. The one game that Capcom should be remaking

It was pretty good until I had to face the Tyrant Bossfight with no ammo. Decided to give up because I didn't want to replay the last few hours of gameplay.

I have been very busy lately and this game has been very hard to get through and I am going to be honest, I have just given up with it.

This game is punishing to the point where it takes the piss. There were so many moments in the game where I would get stuck due to stupid odds and the entire idea of inventory sharing over two characters without warning is fucking stupid.

I literally got to the 2nd stage of the Alexia fight and I have just called it quits there. I don't have enough ammo or healing items and I just have no drive to continue this game. I feel like I have wasted a month trying to get beat a game that I have decided to abandon. I could easily go back a few saves and probaly finish it, but honestly, I can't be arsed. I have given this game more than its fair share of my time.

Overall, I don't hate this game, there were a few bits I quite liked but it just works off a system which isn't rewarding one bit and only seems to punish the player.

Code: Veronica is one of the black sheep of the Resident Evil franchise for understandable reasons:

It’s not a numbered entry. It initially released on the Sega Dreamcast, just a few months after Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. It was overshadowed by the far superior Resident Evil 4. It has multiple places where you can get soft-locked. The story has a few particular elements that have aged very poorly. It doesn’t look great, even for the time.

I liked it.

Don’t get me wrong, this thing is flawed, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have fun playing through Code:Veronica X HD. I found the first half (and the last few hours) to be especially atmospheric and, honestly, not as frustrating as I had anticipated. It’s a me thing, but I’ve noticed I don’t get bothered by backtracking as much as I used to; I like the experience of getting to know a location.

As for the elephant in the room, and the most common complaint about this game: The “story” and “characters”.

Resident Evil isn’t exactly known for its emotionally complex storytelling, but dude. This dialogue gives, dare I say it, Hunt Down the Freeman a run for its money. In both writing and acting it’s just atrocious- and unintentionally hilarious. Alfred Ashford is a G.O.A.T. ‘so bad it’s good’ character. The plot feels like it was written on-the-fly and legitimately makes even less sense than the Paul W.S. Anderson films.

But there’s this cheesy camp/horror element to the original Resident Evil that I think Code: Veronica uniquely recaptures. Even RE4 is too self-aware and too clever to qualify. There’s just an endearing guilelessness to it that I find infectious; It’s so over-the-top and downright crazy that I couldn’t help but get sucked in.

So even if this has minimal chances of getting remade due to it featuring Steve (one of the most annoying characters of all time), I will continue to adore this series’ commitment to asinine stories set in ostentatious buildings filled with ridiculous Myst puzzles, in whatever game they get lovingly shoehorned into.

Went back to play Wesker's battle mode. Had a pretty hard time but ended up succeeding once I got the gist of it. One of my favorite RE games, and a must-play for fans imo. Marvelous atmosphere.

1 star removed for the fire extinguisher, 1 star removed for Steve

Not a bad RE game…doesn’t deserve the backlash it gets. There was a lot of backtracking, some annoying bosses, and I couldn’t stand Steve, but overall, the game was a pleasure to play. Don’t start here if you are new to RE though.

Perfect except for how primitive it is at some points so it needs a remake please in the style of RE1 HD

Story time : One of the craziest Resident Evil in term of save punishment. Normally, I try to make double save just in case something goes wrong. And guess what… I did not… so I got stuck for a while in a certain plane with the bare minimum in term of weapons. It was challenging, but I kind of enjoyed it.
Review : It’s 2024, the controls are a little clunky, but you get the hang of it, it's playable . The graphics with an HD layers are decent. I feel like the story was limited by what they tried to accomplish on the dreamcast at the time. puzzle are great and boss are ok. Glad I played this game since it was not from my generation !

i loved this game, its pretty much just more classic RE gameplay which i love. A lot of fun weapons to use, the different areas were fun to explore and i thought the game looked pretty good. only issues were some bosses were annoying and the first half of chris's part wasn't that great.

Essa coisa precisa urgente de um remake

This review contains spoilers

Pretty good, but Chris prison part was awful.

Spooky, Goofy, Weird and Frustrating

Resident Evil: Code Veronica X is a port of the Dreamcast Code Veronica. The game Follows Claire after the Events of RE2 still looking for her brother Chris which brings her to Rockford Island 3 months after the events of Raccoon City. It’s a nostalgic game from another era but honestly even for its time when I played it this game has some big problems. Don't get me wrong, at heart I love Code Veronica and want this game to get a “RE2 remake style remake” as much as the next guy but looking at this version and taking off the nostalgia goggles this game has some issues, I'm going to go over.

Gameplay: This is Technically the real Resident Evil 4 or 3 depending on how you look at it as it pushes the story forwards. This is a more hard-core survival horror game with no hand holding, no directions on where to go and fixed camera angles. You have to manage a limited inventory and saves, and the controls are classic Tank controls. It can be fun to progress though if you know this series and what you are doing but there are some huge glaring problems in the gameplay. This is definitely one of the harder RE games to beat as it has some really awkward boss fights that are not just difficult as hell but almost impossible if you don't bring the right ammos and guns with you to certain parts. The worst boss is the boss on the plane, if you don't bring a grenade launcher or flame arrow rounds with the crossbow you will probably have to restart the game or jump back a lot of saves. This is a theme in these games that if you don't have enough health and ammo you gotta restart but this game its very specific and can seriously screw you over big time. There's also a segment or two where you switch to Chris and then Back to Claire and if you don't leave some of your items in the Item box then you will probably get stuck and unable to continue late in the game, like I said a lot of design flaws in the levels.

Graphics, Music & Voice Acting: The atmosphere and Environment in this game is certainly interesting and I could see this game being one of the best ones if it were reimagined in the “RE2 remake style remake” like they have been doing but it’s definitely aged poorly. The returning characters are pretty great, but I’ll be honest the new supporting character Steve is essentially a child in a young adult’s body. His voice acting is pretty rough, in general the voice acting is pretty bad which was the case in all of these games back in the day, One of the villains Alfred's voice acting is so bad at points you might find it physically painful to sit though or just hilarious.

Story/ Minor Spoilers: Basically 3 months after the events of RE2 Claire goes to different umbrella facilities around the world looking for Chris and gets captured. She is then brought to Rockford Island where this first and part of the 3rd act of this game takes place. She teams up with another captive named Steve and they get sent on an autopilot plane to a secret Antarctic base where they are captured again. You then replay though both areas looking for her as Chris. I could see this game as a modern remake being one of the best ones but between the bad acting and bad level design this game isn't in my top 5 for Resident Evil games. Also did I forget to mention the Villain or Villains are really cringy and weird? I can’t say much without spoiling it but their whole story is enough to make anyone with a brother or sister uncomfortable let’s just say that. There are some upsides to this game as well like seeing Chris and Claire reunited and having Wesker return is all awesome but this game has aged graphics, bad voice acting, bad dialogue, Awkward and sometimes very difficult level design that wasn't great even for its time. This game will probably take you 12 hours or more to complete.

Id only really recommend this game for absolute fans of the franchise which let’s be honest if you are reading this review and buying this game I can’t imagine you are a new comer if so what the hell are you doing here? go play the others first and come back lol

Overall: 5/10

The amount of ways you can softlock in this game are ridiculous. If you're thinking of going in blind save yourself the trouble and read a guide as you go, trust me.

Aside from that, the game is honestly pretty fun and the story is campy and entertaining. The soundtrack is stellar!

I'll be telling my kids this was RE3.
I was never a fan of the four campaigns gimmick. The split story in this one was a really good way to bridge the gap. I actually loved the story in this one, and the level design is the best classic RE ever got.

So I watched someone play through this and I really digged the story and characters, and I finally got around to actually trying to play it myself, and I really don;t enjoy the tank controls. Wish they would have remaked this game instead of just going on ahead to RE4.
