Oh sweet Jesus this is terrifying.

Sinistar voice Haiiii :3 Beware UwU! I live~~

This game gets a surprising amount of praise for being a mediocre Asteroids variant. Ignoring Sinistar's comical lack of chill, the gameplay loop consists of shooting at rocks that don't degrade in any way to collect resources for bombs you'll need to defeat Sinistar. The only thing keeping you from doing this is an occasional ship that shows up. That's it. That's the extent of the danger. The entire loop just feels like it goes from 1 to 11 without anything interesting in between.

The best part of the game really is that voice. The gameplay itself is pretty standard shooting and collecting the little shiny bits that pop out of the asteroids and avoiding the enemies. I never made it very far so I'm not sure if it changes up later on. Overall I play it for the atmosphere more than anything but you have to try it at least once to get threatened.

BEWARE I LIVE! RUN COWARD! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

dude was yellin at me BEWARE COWARD and my ass was listenin

Sinistar should be featured in every game. Just a big head that yells catchphrases at you after you play it for long enough.

they wasted one of the hardest villain designs in gaming on a game that's ASS

This game is, strangely enough, one of the best portrayals of eldritch Sci-Fi Horror in a video game. It's just you and your tiny ship hopelessly wandering the vast, bleak emptiness in space until Sinistar awakens and begins his untiring rampage. You can never defeat Sinistar - the best you can do is slow him down - and that gives this game a real haunting quality that I wonder is intentional or a just happy little accident from a studio that just wanted to make a cool space game.

Sinistar is visceral. Sinistar is primal. Sinistar is pure animality. It is fast and loud and furious, and it cannot be stopped. You will not defeat Sinistar, and neither will I. No game of 1983 can defeat Sinistar. Not Libble Rabble, not Pole Position, not the Serial Portopia Murder Case, and not Ultima 3. All are powerless before Sinistar, and for as long as l have breath, Sinistar will live.

BEWARE I LIVE! I HUNGER! I AM SINISTAR!
RUN COWARD! RUN! RUN! RUN!
RAWWWAAAARRRGGGGHHH!
Fascinante como eu escuto à anos duas músicas (X) (X) baseadas inteiramente nesse jogo (e q até usam as SFX dele) mas só fiquei sabendo hoje da existência dessa relíquia.

Whenever Sinistar isn’t on screen, everyone should be asking, “Where’s Sinistar?”

Played with a trackball and the speakers, this is an arcade experience that just feels so immersive

A unique blend of space shooting and horror where you're blasting aliens while also being pursued by the eponymous cosmic horror that taunts and yells at you. Sinistar is fun, challenging, and also pretty damn tense. It's infamous for causing heart attacks so don't play it if you have high blood pressure but otherwise this is a great early 80's arcade game and one of the most memorable.

galaga if it wasnt for little bitches

Nemesis, Pyramid Head, any horror villain of the last ten years… BABY SHIT… compared to the scariest enemy in video game history, Sinistar. Everytime he says “Run, coward”, I die of fear, as I am typing this from Hell right now, waiting to gain the courage to go back to my body in the surface world.

Game #251

One of the better Asteroids clones of the era, both in the fluidity of the movement and the amazing sound samples. This machine sounds haunted when it's in working order.

Sinistar remains another frenetic classic by Williams Electronics, probably as good if not better than Robotron 1984. The depth and technical prowess of this 1982 game are rivaled only by Atari's Star Wars cockpit cabinet, released in 1983.
Never before has sci-fi horror been so masterfully executed, Sinistar is a terrifying villain that causes even a simple Asteroids clone to ruin your fresh pair of pants. His guttural scream, forever immortalized in gaming history.
