Sniper Elite on Wii is a port of the original 2005 tactical shooter, adapting the tense sniping action to the console's motion controls. While the Wii remote aiming offers increased precision, the game's age shows in its dated visuals and occasionally clunky mechanics. The focus on stealth and long-range precision provides a unique experience on the Wii, but those seeking a polished, modern shooter may find Sniper Elite a bit rough around the edges.

Played this as a kid, remember it as a pretty fun game, so it's a win in my book

Well, I am disappointed.

There is a bug after bug in the game. Other than that, I played on Sniper Elite difficulty. I really had to replay two or three episodes again because of some bugs.

Artificial Intelligence is terrible. Sometimes they can't shoot you even though you're in front of them, but they headshot you with an MG or SMG style weapon from sniper distance. As if that wasn't enough, they already know your place. Guided grenades are a different matter. It made me laugh that the German tank and the Russian tank passed without firing even though they could see each other. It is also a pleasure to be shot in the cut scane part (!)

There is no logic in missions. I witnessed especially incredible comedy events. I think what I should explain is here. They were all disasters.

It's a backward game in many respects, even for its time. It can be taken to see how the Sniper Elite series starts, but I do not recommend it.

My overall rating: 6/10

The oppressive atmosphere created from the clunky controls, hard Stealth and early Hitman game design is excellent. Karl can barely walk cause of enemies camouflaged in the distance, his low health and delay to change weapons isn't suited for close direct combat and forces the players to move slowly, observant and always afraid. Therefore, Sniper Elite has a great game loop, going from high and low dangerous areas, the game rewards the player in the best way possible, with rest, as now you can save peacefully and progress towards the next objective.

Unremarkable by todays standards and there's not really a reason to play it with the newer games building upon the same and polishing everything up, but if you're like me, you like to see where things begin.

Sniper Elite is a mission based shooter where you're.. well, a sniper, but you're mostly "in the ground" rather than high up on buildings, looking through a roof or a window, like in V2.

While basic in execution, Sniper Elite features most if not all of the core mechanics in future entries. Shooting at tank's gasoline.. uh.. tanks(?), slowmo of the bullet hitting an enemy, and setting up traps to kill your enemies without you being there.

The Stealth system barely exists, but it is there. Barebones, but it is there!
Overall, unremarkable but not bad.

A pretty rough mission-based shooter. It was okay, but nothing great.

I realise this game may not have aged the best, especially in terms of controls and graphics, but I still think the original is very underrated to this day.

Not a game I can claim aged well, bit certainly good for it's time and a great framework for an entire genre

You can leave this one where it lies. Man, who in their right mind greenlit a sequel to this? I mean I'm thankful because I adore the ensuing series, but good god.

9/10

Commander, press ";" to open your inventory and select the time bomb by navigating using "Arrow Key Left" and "Arrow Key Right" to move horizontally, and "PageUp" and "PageDown" to move vertically.

Once you select the item, wind up the seconds timer by pressing "F6" and "F7" to add and subtract time. The same applies for the minute timer but with "F9" and "F10" instead. If you press "F8" the bomb immediately blows up.

After setting up the timer, press "Shift + Delete" to place the time bomb and "Ctrl + ñ" to activate it. After that, press "Print Screen" 300 times or else the game crashes.

The future of our nation relies on you, good luck.

Tried playing it 2 days ago. I didn’t like the controls that much.

There is only one problem with this game, and if it weren't for that problem, it would be one of the best tactical shooters ever made. The problem is; The game does not allow you to play incognito. For example, he tells you to go to the exit point without being seen by the enemies in a mission, but your exit point is full of enemies. And there's no way you can sneak through. I remember many scenes like this. The game felt like it could almost be a masterpiece, easy to spend.

i dont understand why your main guy moves like hes got butter spread all over his boots

"A Frustratingly Awful First Entry To An Otherwise Solid Series"

Sniper Elite is not a good game. Its not even close to being a decent one. Its a game that lays the groundwork down for a great sniping game, but fails to create an interesting plot, level structure, or satisfying gunplay. Add in aged graphics within a shoddy Steam version of the game, and you have a truly awful experience.

I didn't stick with this game for a particularly long time, but from what I gathered, there isn't really a cohesive plot. You're just some sniper who is behind enemy lines during WWII. Yay. After this abysmal introduction to the game, you are placed within a weak tutorial section that introduces one of the many awful objectives within the game.

One thing to note: the game world functions as semi-open, so you are never forced down a particular path. This would be great as long as the game directs you on where and what to do in a semi-coherent and interesting manner . . . in which it does not! The only sense of direction a player can attain is by using a crummy map or by glancing at an unreliable and uninteresting compass.

The graphics and art design are both very plain, with many browns and grays thrown into the mix. Characters are polygonal and have generic details for their designs. The sound is very chaotic with booming highs, near-silent lows, and a frustrating mix of all sounds in between.

The gunplay is, at its core, what fans of the Sniper Elite enjoy, but in a very scaled-down and basic format. Aim, hold breath, shoot, rinse, repeat. The mouse acceleration being so high makes gunplay feel like trash, and the lack of great damage feedback makes kills very unsatisfying. The penetration / X-Ray system was not really implemented yet in this title, so its very barebones at this point in the series.

Objectives are where the game truly fails at creativity. The first few objectives involved moving from Point A to Point B, escorting a NPC from Point A to Point B, and carrying a hostage from Point A to Point B. it very linearly designed and super restrictive, something that serves as a killing blow to any potential enjoyment this game could have served to a player.

Overall, Sniper Elite is a dud. I'm very happy the gameplay was redesigned in a more intuitive, creative, and enjoyable experience for the sequels, but the first title was a flavorless mess of a game. I would Not Recommend for anyone to really check this one out - it has nothing to offer, and you may as well spend your time with one of the better-designed sequels.

Final Verdict: 1/10 (Terrible)
