Was really excited for this, but the gameplay loop was too similar as the first one with not many new interesting things added to keep me going like the first game.

If you were like me and played this during the first versions of early access, it was truly an unfinished mess and I wish they didn't charge $30 for it, or at least delayed it by a couple more months so it could be polished a bit more. I haven't gone back to see every addition to V1.0 and beyond to be fair, but I can't see it becoming a 4.5 or higher.

Just an overall upgrade of the first game, in every possible aspect. It hands hold you to progress on the story to unlock more stuff to mess around even more, which I find pretty neat. But the story feels kinda rushed, it stops so suddenly. If you are like me and you like to just build and dick around, great game.

Good game its very fun if you play along with your friends otherwise you will shit urself once it gets darker

After having played it since day one of early access, I can say the full release has perfectioned every aspect of the first game and its improvements and additions. It almost fell like it's a completely different game compared with what it was at the beggining. That said, it's so refined in terms of gameplay and mechanics that I feel its essence has been lost. I don't feel it has the same charm the first game still has to this day, and I can't stay attached to it that much

The one wheel in this game makes you the fastest thing alive

Lot of mechanics mashed in together. Quantity > quality. Still fun

this game i think was a mess in a lot of ways, but it is good to play with a friend you don't talk to that often. the ending had us howling at how fucking stupid it was. who was that guy? who was the other guy? why is kelvin here, he looks so good in his pink pajamas. why are they fighting? who is this guy's dad?

it was pretty unfortunate too that after the first couple of hours, there was little tension on the game. base building was almost entirely unnecessary, with nothing in the world threating your movement, travel was little but a time suck. the emergent gameplay aspects of a game you'd want to see from a survival game with a lot of systems are almost nonexistent. at no point did it drive home the fantasy of "having to survive in a hostile world". but whatever, thats ok.

the only real improvement from the first game is the building imo. the story is such a disappointment, it's really just a string of disjointed pieces and none of the main questions really get answered. a lot of intriguing elements are introduced that aren't really expanded upon, but it's also pretty clear they're gearing up for a third game given how it ends.

Sons of the forest two isn't a big let down as other sequels but i'm slightly disappointed that this doesnt have some of the older creatures, keep in mind I played this during April 2023.
Me and My Ex Girlfriend binged through the game and had a sweet little space, it was a lot of fun to play with her. She enjoyed it too, yet after a bit it just got bland. Id love to do a replay of it with my current friends.

I finally picked this up after 1.0 dropped, I was a massive fan of the original and enjoyed it a lot. The building was a bit frustrating and slow but was quite cool to play with for a few hours. Was also a very fun map to explore and had a pretty cool story.

The game's building system is great, the map is a bit too large, the ending is deplorable, and man... what they did to Kelvin in the end is bizarre. I only played it when it was released, already prepared knowing it could be inferior to the first The Forest. In the end, I can say it is still a good game.

its a fun...ish game, but only with other people, with some fun...ish building mechanics, but as far as the rest of it goes, the combat and exploration is mid at best, the survival aspect is annoying at best and holy moly that ending was atrocious and made me feel like i just wasted my time.

Sons Of The Forest
---------
Graphics: 4.6/5

Story: 3.1/5

Gameplay: 3.6/5

Soundtrack: 2/5

Bugs(0= None ; 5= Unplayable): 2 (Fell off the map)

Fun factor: 3.2/5

Characters: 3/5

Final thoughts: 3.1 (3 on backlogged) Playing The Forest and Sons Of The Forest back to back felt like I was playing in the same universe, but each game was made by a different team. While The Forest gave me a feeling that I was always being watched and no matter what I do, I wouldn't be safe, Sons Of The Forest felt like I was some kind of super soldier that could just obliterate every cannibal in my way. But by no means is this a bad thing. Even though I enjoyed The Forest more, Sons Of The Forest is a clear improvement, not only with graphics but also with the combat, which is way better in Sons Of The Forest. The story was okay; personally, I didn't like how they explained the supernatural stuff, but that's just my opinion.

Awesome game I enjoyed it a lot of keep it up Endnight Games Ltd!!!!!

Survival games are not my thing to be honest. I only bought it to play with friends and I would say that would be the only time I would find this game enjoyable.

[SPOILERS]
I've played SOTF on release day and it wasn't a pleasent experience so to speak. It was very poorly optimized and buggy, but hey, it was early acces, who am I to criticize the game when it barely stared to walk?

I waited one year for the full release, and, it has changed alot, it doesn't seem so, but for me, it really did.

Everything felt that bit more smooth and pleasent to play, don't get me wrong, the big criticize the game gets is the BIG map that is very empty, but the addition of carts and the one wheeler that I forgot the name are geat, albeit annyoing to use since there aren't many roads.

I adored the addition of multiple characters, not just you and cannibals. When I first enterd the big dinner area and saw the son's protagonist of The Forest I was really stoked.

The ending also got better, even though it felt a bit abrupt.

Also Kelvin is the best, props to him.

ı like kelvin and ı hate new lighter

Big Head mode is essential for any playthrough.

Very solid game and gameplay big improvement on the first, however, the ending left me wanting more.

The first episode, "The Forest," was a blast. It brought something fresh to the table, kept me entertained, and even had some good laughs along the way. Never a dull moment there!

But "Sons of the Forest" didn't quite hit the mark for me. It did try to tie up some loose ends from the first game, which was nice, but it felt like they missed the mark with the story. It's like a kid's wild dream put into words—kind of all over the place. Plus, the map was too big, to be honest. I found myself thinking about using cheats just to get through it.

My advice? Skip this one. Save your cash and your time.

a little more fun with friends than the last one

Although I prefer the story from the first game, I loved the versatility this one has with the building system.

I just need to point out that we are lacking some stuff that we had in the first game (log sledge, craftable ropes, trophies, walkman, etc.), but this is early access so I hope they will eventually be added! We have lots of new stuff too! Also, make sure to find a 3D printer to create useful items! I like the inventory and how much it can carry. There are a lot of underground spots to explore, and some caves too (it feels like this one has fewer caves than the previous game, though).

When it comes to visuals/graphics, this game looks so beautiful! Such amazing scenery too! And now we also have Winter!

Another thing, I wish we could pick the boom boxes to take with us!

The Forest was a game that I somehow completely missed when it first went through Early Access and its original release. When I found it, it felt like those old days before streaming services where you accidentally ended up watching Tremors at midnight on basic cable having never known that it existed, or that the franchise was already three sequels deep by the time you discovered the original. Because of this "found media" feeling, combined with the themes of the game itself, it felt like accidentally finding a really neat creepypasta in the form of a video game. The survival mechanics also worked decently well, and while the story required a fair bit of suspension of disbelief, it ended up being a mostly coherent narrative with a contemplative ending.

Then... they made this game. The survival stuff carries over and is improved and polished, but they also decided to vastly expand the narrative here and, christ in heaven, what a perfect example of not all ideas needing to be given life. I won't bother spoiling it, I'd suggest either playing through the insane nonsense yourself if you like the gameplay of The Forest, or just watching a youtube video summarizing it, but suffice it to say, this title was a gameplay mechanic in search of a narrative, and it would have honestly been better off doing 90% less, leaving a bunch of stuff completely ambiguous and just letting you kill body horror creatures in the woods. I also feel duty-bound to mention Kelvin. There, he's been mentioned.

Quality of life improvements from the first game are very welcomed but it doesn’t quite capture the same feeling as the first. Still a fantastic game I will continue to revisit as there is a deeper story at play.
