Overall this is an early access survival game. Lots of missing features, a lame ending, and overall there is horrendous optimization and polish and it certainly needs work. But it is good, and promising. Lots of stuff to do and a lot of the caves feel cool to explore and fight in, with really awesome rewards for exploration because you can find some very unique tools. The building is both better and worse, because it is harder to use but also you can build more and have more creativity. The mutants are a little safer in design and not as freaky, a little too humanoid but the companions you get are really cool. The enemy AI of course is top notch and they feel like actual, breathing people that will run away or give up or ignore you depending on things. I hope they keep their promise of expanding on the game and updating it constantly but we will have to see. You certainly have to understand it is an early access game to enjoy it right now. I will update this review as time passes and I do more playthroughs and hours. If you don't mind early access or have friends, grab it. If you do mind early access you'll have to sadly wait a couple of months.

on one hand, this game is super fun to play with other people. i played about seven hours of the game with my boyfriend and exploring the caves and fighting the mutants was fun. i think the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay was improved from the first game. the AI companion was a nice touch. he's very helpful in gathering resources while you go do other things (like clear a cave), though can be slow and buggy at times.

unfortunately, we experienced some bugs during our gameplay, and i feel the story was a bit lackluster. after the final cutscene both of us were kinda just like, "that's it?" it's early access so of course these things can be changed but for now i'm quite conflicted on the game.

great game that expands upon one of my favorite games of all time, the forest. at the time of writing (a couple days after release), the game is mired with a number of bugs that bog down the experience somewhat. but once those are ironed out, this will be a 5/5 game

Solid sequel building on the good points of the first game in the series. Virtually all mechanics saw improvement while the story remained just as serviceable as the last one and creepy enough to keep tension long enough to feel a real progression from terrified unprepared guy into god of the woods.

Sevdiğim Şeyler
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Sons Of The Forest oynanış bakımından ilk oyundan çok farklı bir yapım sayılmaz. Türü seven ve ekibi olanlar için Sons Of The Forest gayet güzel olmuş.

Hikaye
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Not: Spoiler İçerebilir

So, I'm certainly going to be writing something more comprehensive in the future when 1.0 comes out but I wanted to take what I think is a unique opportunity to drop some thoughts on a game that for all intents and purposes is finished mechanically.

I'm a huge fan of The Forest. It was one of the most surprising games I've played because I've never been a survival fan. Just building a house and having to concentrate on eating, drinking, sleeping, etc is a chore. I don't want to do shit I have to do in real life! So The Forest surprised me by pulling back on these elements to be a secret horror Metroidvania where I had a genuine interest in unveiling its mysteries and the game ultimately ended on another surprise: a satisfying narrative note.

Cut to: Sons of the Forest. A long awaited sequel, pushed year after year until finally just a month after its latest release date was revealed to be an Early Access title. This was a bit confusing since it was supposedly releasing last year...and the year before. Anyways, I jumped on the chance immediately which is often frowned upon for an Early Access title.

What I love: the island. It is so much more realized than the previous title and has some seriously gorgeous moments just existing in it. An orange sunrise with light shafts through lightly breezed leaves, the UV glow of your lighter reflected on wet cave walls, or even the way soil looks as you shovel it during a heavy rainstorm. The game is still scary, albeit less so having spent so much time in the first. The base building is even better than before, more dynamic, although not without its pitfalls.

Things that need ironed: the narrative. Wow. Its very bizarre to me that instead of holding off the story for a future update, it's just in but without sound, dialogue, or context. I did finish the story. Beat by beat it is there interesting enough. I have seen the end of this game but it didn't mean a single thing to me and honestly I feel like it just spoiled moments that would really wow me. I think maybe they should've just released the game with its mechanics to propel it and waited on the story.

Another thing is your companion Kelvin, who I refer to as Kevin. I don't think I need to get into what his portrayal means. He's essentially a brain-damaged soldier who you use as a work horse. Probably problematic? Anyways, Kevin is really helpful sometimes until he's not. It's a great idea to have an AI companion to help with the monotony of building, especially in the single player mode, but man this dude does whatever he wants. You just started building a treehouse and ask him to find logs? Yeah, he's gonna cut down the tree you just built half of it on in order to get materials from it.

In the end, I'm excited for what this has to offer in the long term. I'm pretty damn close as is to seeing all it has to offer in its current state and that's okay. Hopefully it will eventually be all that I'd dreamed of after the first game.

Haven't gotten to far into the game yet but:
-Building/crafting is wonky & convoluted and nothing like the original
-Inconsistent mouse cursor speeds between aiming/looking/inventory/options menu
-Game is still way too dark, darker than the original, Even with Gamma and Brightness boosted, my friends and I can't see anything at night/dark areas
-Things feel needlessly slow (pulling out things from inventory, swapping weapons, etc)
-Inventory is WAY too big. The original was great with everything in easily reachable areas on the screen, meanwhile now you have to slowly scroll your way to different areas of the inventory. I couldn't even SEE that sticks are now in the bottom left of the inventory because they were covered up/that far out of viewing distance

I'm hoping this gets better with time, as the original did, considering it's Early Access, but this long of a development time for Early Access that feels like 2 steps backwards from where they polished The Forest at is just annoying.

mid (like the first game) but worse and more incomplete.
Also there are barely innovations or changes, and the few it has, are unfinished and worse than the first game :)
But... It's early access... Ok, let's wait 5 years then

a civilização se matt não existisse

some improvements are definitely needed, but i still enjoyed playing with friends (minus joe)

it's fun if u play with friends but thats all, some improvements are definitely needed

The Forest is one of my favorite survival games and so I was obviously really excited for it's sequel. I've been following the development from Sons of the Forest closely and played it during it's early acces phase rather sporadically. Now the full Version has been released for roughly 2 month and I've finally beat the game with my friend.
Our overall experience was positive but we both agreed on the fact that Sons of the Forest doesn't reach the heights from it's predecessor. Due to the Map being way too big and rather empty, traversing it often feels like a slog. Yes they added vehicles like the Golfcart or the Knight V which are both cool additions but using these vehicles can get annonying because you are running into trees all the time. There are also less animals and less blueprints, examples for this would be the missing of boats. I found the story also less compelling then the story from the first game because it lacked motivation. Which was better executed in The Forest with the big hole in the middle of the map being a core driving factor for mystery and your reason to explorer.

But it's not all bad, the overall production value is higher, every mechanic feels more fleshed out and the many new animations are a great addition. The performance is also way better then in early access and the game runs way smoother. I also liked the improved building system and it was just fun building your base with your friends. But the problem was that there is no real reason for your to build a base. Since you can carry every important item in your inventory and exploring takes so much time due to the size of the map that you are rarely at your base. My favorite new additions would be Kelvin and Virginia, both characters were very useful even if the AI wasn't the best at times. The ending that you get with Virginia was also hilarious and I would have never expected that you impregnate her

All in all still a really fun game with beautiful graphics, a solid survival foundation and it's even more fun with your friends. The story is rather lackluster because I think finding your own son is more compelling then finding a random billionaire.

So far, this is a pretty good sequel. The early access content is enough to play about a dozen hour.

i love when this game works (never)

I want to begin by saying that I really enjoyed the first game. However, I'm not sure how I feel about this sequel. After finishing the storyline, including finding every item and viewing both endings, it's clear that some aspects are better than the previous game, while others are worse. Nevertheless, I'm excited to see what the developer has in store for early access.

I am confused by Endnight thinking that this is a nearly finished game and only needs "polishing".

This is basically The Forest on a new map. A map that is bigger, but absolutely does not have anything fun or new in it. Just a lot more space to run around in. The lack of a story was understandable because the first one was like that, but they did not improve on the sandbox elements to the game in any meaningful way. In fact, there's actually no point to having a base in this game because it's so easy to get to weapons that just one shot everything. Your backpack can carry an insane amount of stuff too. So, why build a base?

Its like the forest next gen. They made some improvments about gameplay, animations and visuals. But sounds and textures are mostly same. You can have fun with your friends.I dont like playing survival games alone.

Top life simulator in Russia after mobilization)
But seriously, it's just a graphic benchmark of a forest, but my 15 fps didn`t change either at low settings or at high settings) And yes, it's very beautiful on ultra, i can't argue. The plot and the initial cutscene are very embarrassing, yes, the animations have become better, the natives have cool ai, but why play it now in early access with lags, also for 30$, also with a small amount of crafting, I don’t know, maybe a full release will be better

I'm fan of the first game ( The forest ) it was so good the story the enemy ... etc
I was so exited for this game from the trailers
at all the building in here better more detailed but hard to get it at first
the weapon are better of course the part you put in the guns or the crafting weapon
i like the animation of the crafting are fun to watch
but map the map are over big . for nothing . i mean why
the mutant have nice design
the story now we need to sit and talk
why there is no big enemy or boss relate to the story to make it more horror or scary
i like to see temmy and his father but older

I would sincerely rather watch Cannibal Holocaust; Less racist.

Will definitely update this review as the game gets more updates, but in it's current state it's just okay. I had a fun enough time with it but the original The Forest is way better at the moment. The game definitely has potential though and I think as the updates roll along it could be as good as or maybe better than the original.

Paying thirty dollars for an early access, buggy, short-as-hell game is kind of absurd. If you're the type of player who is drawn to single-player or story-driven games, definitely steer clear of this. However, if like me you have a small group of friends who are into these sorts of survival sandbox horror-esque games and you've pretty much already mastered 7 Days to Die, this is worth a shot I think, especially if you can wait and get it on sale for 15$ or so. It is not the deepest game out there, but I'll be honest, exploring the caves and bunkers is fun, and so is building bases with cat ears.

Still needs much needed updates, still buggy, still in early access, but the content is mostly there and it's just a better version of The Forest.

Really good game. Made a lot of improvements but it's not yet 100% better than the first one.

just did not hit the same as the forest 1?? Maybe I'm just over the survival crafting genre
