Absolutely wonderful platformer with a unique twist on movement. The last world was just a touch too hard for me but that doesn't mean this isn't one of my favorite platformers I've played.

Solid platforming. This game takes a unique mechanic, moving only via magnetic attraction, and builds all of its gameplay around it. Luckily, it meshes very well with the slick level design and even has some fun variations in later worlds. It's very rare for me to say this about a precision platformer, but I can't think of a time I was frustrated while playing this game even in the hardest of stages.

If Celeste and Super Meat Boy had a child... this would be it.

I'm afraid i'm being too harsh on this one but I think what I don't like about this game in general is the controls. The level design requires you to be very quick and precise and the controls just aren't sharp enough, maybe it is because I played on Switch? Playing on PC with mouse and keyboard may be a better option. The first stages are usually better but then the later ones are very difficult and made me activate some accessibility options and checkpoints. In most cases I tought if it was really me being bad at the game or just the controls. But anyways the game has some really cool ideas and pulling off some magnet tricks feels very nice, I just wish more had been done with it.

A precision platformer that I felt compelled to actually get every collectible. Probably has the best usage of magnets in a game. Every interaction with it just became more and more unique never boring me ever. Each world also has an alternate world, like many other ones in the genre. There is a secret world too if you collect every star fragment but man, this game was hard. I didn't mention the story because, well, who cares? No one plays these games for it.

This game is currently in the Humble Choice for December 2022, this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before January 3th, 2023, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle.

Magnetized platforming.

Super Magbot starts with the player trying to stop a large asteroid on a collision course with multiple planets. Players control a robot that has the power to attract or repel with two different magnets. It’s a simple setup but the level design here is great and the controls are tight. Once you can remember which color is which button, you’ll be able to fly through levels, and there are optional challenges that will increase the difficulty.

On the other hand, what you see is what you get, the story is pretty weak, the gameplay is tight but simple, and the experience is good, not great. However you’ll feel accomplished after almost every level, and there are alternate extremely difficult bonus levels as well.

Pick this up if you love platformers. The controls are tight enough that almost anyone will have a good time here, but while there’s a small amount of puzzle in the design of a level, it’s more about fast precise actions, than anything else. I believe there are only about 100 levels in the game and I was knocking out my successful runs taking about 20 seconds a piece.

And those are the games of the Humble choice, but because you have been so awesome to me and checking out the video, I’m going to give you just a little more, we have a special treat this week. It's a game from the Humble Game Collection, which you can check out if you subscribe to Humble Choice now or in the future.

While this game isn't special or mind-blowing or anything, it's a really solid (if very difficult) precision platformer that has a unique mechanic and is well made all around. I will say this is the most thorough mashup of precision platformer and puzzle platformer I have ever encountered. I've never had a game make me use my brain and my reflexes as much simultaneously. The music and pixel art, while not the best ever, are pretty good. The game got a lot more enjoyable when I stopped going for the collectibles and just started trying to beat each level.

Was between a 4 and a 4.5 stars for the score here, ended up going 4 bc the final boss was so incredibly frustrating and took me several days so it ended on a bit of a sour note.

MEGAMAG
