Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll attempts to breathe new life into the classic formula by introducing Wii Balance Board support. Unfortunately, the imprecise balance board controls make navigating the game's challenging courses a frustrating exercise. However, traditional Wii Remote control remains an option, and the core puzzle stages still deliver the addictive ball-rolling gameplay fans know and love. It's a mixed bag experience; the fun of Super Monkey Ball still shines in spots, but the core gameplay is hampered by inconsistent control options.

oh god where do i begin
you have two control schemes; using the wii balance board and using the wii remote a la banana blitz. If you use the wii remote, you just get a really dumbed down monkey ball game that doesn't really do anything interesting and has really boring levels. If you use the wii balance board, the levels are more designed for your control method, sure, but also playing for a long enough time can and will physically hurt you so really pick your poison. Avoid.

Not the worst entry in the series but definitely very forgettable. It's lacking content (as almost all the post SMB2 games do), level design is bland, and it's just not very satisfying to play.

Please go back in time to when these games were good. 😭

weak sauce
more like chimp ball

Relieving the board isn't mandatory, but this marks when Monkey Ball descends in level design from short challenges with a clock designed not to take too long to long and dull unchallenging levels outside the clock since the level is designed to last the entire minute just why.
